Primo - Rockland Ratings and Reviews
We have done some extension traveling and this is by far my favorite restaurant. Atmosphere, Garden fresh produce and meats, locally sourced and exquisitely prepared! I am lucky enough to be able to travel each year for our wedding anniversary! Splendid! Thank you!
Food was exceptional. Service was great. Definitely a special place for dinner. My only concern was the noise level. The restaurant was full and it was difficult to have a conversation with my wife because of the noise. However, the noise would not keep us from coming back. The food and service far outweigh the noise level.
Amazing place - the food was awesome and the atmosphere was perfect. Was disappointed in our waitress as she didn't talk up the food or do it nearly the justice it deserved. She kind of mailed it in, if you will. But this place is top notch and highly recommend!
We celebrated our anniversary at Primo on Friday night and the experience was just outstanding! Coming from the Hudson Valley and working in NYC, we have an opportunity to dine at many fantastic restaurants and Primo ranks right up there (if not better) than many of the high-end farm to table establishments in our region. It is no surprise that Melissa Kelly is the winner of multiple James Beard awards as her attention to every detail shows from the attentive service to the exquisite food!
Also, the best lobster risotto that I have ever had and my husband loved the charcoal ravioli! Both simply phenomenal!
The food at Primo is beyond belief. It is fresh, locally sourced, beautifully prepared and presented, and delicious. The service was excellent. The only down side to Primo is that on a busy night (and they are apparently all busy nights....a testament to how wonderful they are!), the restaurant becomes extremely loud. But I can overlook that for a dining experience like my wife and I had as we were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary.
This was my third visit. I have gone each time I have been there with family for dinner, with a group for a birthday, and with my daughter for a meal for two. The cuisine is exquisitely prepared, creative, locally sourced, and seasonal. Their handcrafted cocktails are excellent as is the wine list. Service was friendly, timely, and informed. Ambiance is not loud but not super quiet. Dress business casual to a bit more casual, but one would not stand out strangely if dressed more formally. Overall, it is an area standout. The only lament is that I cannot afford it often.
We had been looking forward to trying Primo's because of it's reputation for it's food. The food was good but for the price, there are other local options that surpass Primo's. The tables were very close, it was too loud to hear someone sitting right in front of you and it was overpriced. We may go to sit at the bar in the future for a drink but will dine elsewhere.
Looks like a very good restaurant if you eat meat. Very limited options for those who do not, although the waiter /kitchen were as accommodating as they could be. But nowadays I really expect any fine restaurant to offer at least one legitimate vegetarian main course.
The food was so good. However, I don't think it is as good as they think it is. They are a bit pretentious. I ordered the sirloin medium rare, but it was served medium to medium well. The white pizza appetizer was a bit heavy. We made our reservation through Open Table. However, trying to teach a person on the phone was next to impossible. We have dined there twice and don't need to go back.
We were very disappointed. Service was very slow. My cocktail was served moments before that salad, which was a head of butter lettuce with a boring dressing. Other salads were nicely presented. The problem was that we expected to be blown over with service, taste, presentation but it was all so underwhelming. I do not like writing a bad review because I know this restaurant can do much better.
This was my second time to dine at Primo. I will never go back. Exceedingly overrated and extremely and ridiculously overpriced. I ordered the waiter's recommendation of the chicken cordon bleu. It was awful. So dry I had to send it back. The stuffed ham was way too fatty. The "single" small potato served with it was so undercooked it was unetable. Primo is not all is its cracked up to be from reviews in quality and serving size. A very unpleasant experience.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Maine. The chef provides wonderful locally sourced seasonal dishes . We usually come here for special occasions because it's a two hour drive, but we sometimes come just to create a special occasion. Our rule is you must come hungry and prepared to dine.
I first must tell you I never leave food reviews because something always seems a bit off at most restaurants to me... sorry I'm very picky when it comes to food. But Primo is off the chain... everything is awesome there from the comfort of the room, table setting, menu, friendly staff, and awesome food. This was our 10th time eating at Primo we went for my daughters 17th birthday(she had never been) .. her eyes lit up when she ate the farmers salad ... then came the duck she loved.. the sweet potato flan was amazing! For dessert she ordered a warm chocolate cake and we had the cream puffs with sea salt ice cream... everything was perfect! We have never been disappointed by any of the meals we had. BTW - I had the scallops and my husband had the lupino fish both were spot on! BRAVO Primo... even on a busy Saturday night you seem to never rush us and have everything done perfectly!
A gem in Rockland! We are foodies that always look for the Top Chef/ Master Chef type places everywhere we go. Recently while we were touring through Maine, we came across this find and were not disappointed! The ambiance is beautiful, the service was excellent and the food was fantastic! We had a fabulous evening and would highly recommend!!
Over priced ...and attempt to include so much on a plate resulted in minimal portion...ex...$48 pork chop special was supposed to be on cheddar polenta....could not find any polenta..veggies good but not distinguishable- pork so tough that they did end up comping half the meal... vacation special night was terribly disappointing
We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Primo! The food was all fabulous. The foie gras was especially good. Definitely 'farm to table' as we could see the chickens and some of the gardens from our table. Our server Katharine was delightful and attentive. We were in Rockland to celebrate our anniversary and Katharine had 'happy anniversary' written in chocolate on our dessert plate - it was very sweet (pun intended!).
The food was amazing and service incredible!
I started with the Farmer Salad and my Husband started with the Tomato salad both very good.
My choose the pork saltimbocca as my meal ---it was so incredible and such a big portion too.
My husband had the lamb Bolognese and loved it!
It was a wonderful evening!
