Primo Plates & Pours
We split 3 courses, which they were kind enough to split in half for us. All 3 were very good, as was the service! My only complaint would be it was a bit chilly inside.
Very good place for any date night or a Valentine's Date night. Drove from Big Lake (45 min drive) and was highly impressed. Service and food were excellent. My only knock on the restaurant, was the wine. Their least expensive bottle is about $32.00, but I remembered the name and label as it's a wine my wife and I wanted to purchase outside the restaurant. Found it for $9.99 at Total Wine..Quite the up-charge.
Service was amazing, the food was underwhelming, I feel as though the flavors just weren’t there. Everything tasted a bit bland.
Let me clear that we love Primo Plates & Pours and have written very positive reviews in the past. On this visit though they were crazy busy and that might have effected the meal quality. First the good - they accommodated my advanced seating request for a table against the wall, in spite of being able to seat walk ins at the larger table, and for that I was very grateful. Our waitress, Stacy, was very helpful, pleasant and attentive, even though she was moving quickly between tables. And, quickly noticed when we did not receive our order as requested, and replaced it. The food though ultimately was the downfall. The veal parmesan was very tough, difficult to cut and chew. And, my go to dinner all the time, clams and linguine in a white sauce, just didn't taste right, almost sweet?? Maybe the wine used in the sauce? They quickly offered to replace the veal with something else (I didn't complain about my meal), but we said that wasn't necessary. In return, they did give us dessert, an amazing tiramisu! So, not the best night, but as I stated, the service was totally on par. We will be back!
Outstanding food and service!!
Food and service were outstanding! The portions were great and was a fantastic wait staff. Would highly recommend!
Everything was great!!
Yet another outstanding dinner at Primo! The waitstaff is wonderful, the food unsurpassed, the prices reasonable, and the ambiance is perfect. Primo is one of those rare, unexpected, hole-in-the-wall finds. A truly wonderful experience, don't let the outside fool you, come in for one of the best meals you can find. My only tiny issue is that they don't have veal parmigiana on the menu (although their other veal dishes are fantastic!). Strongly recommend reservations as it can get very busy!
Primo is great on service, atmosphere and value. Food is MOR otherwise this review would be a five.
My husband and I had a lovely date night at Primo. The service, food and ambience were perfect.
We really enjoyed the appetizers, pasta and steaks for dinner, and chocolate cake for dessert. Fun drink options too.
We thought we'd give this place a try. Our food - Chicken Parm and Baked pasta with fenil sausage was very bland. Presentation was good - our house salad was great and tasty. Service was good but bland entrees will mean we probably won't return.
I love this restaurant. It’s expensive- but the food is excellent and the service is excellent. For special occasions this is one of my first choices
I really like Primo, but the tables are so close and crowded that if you are seated almost anywhere-but especially in the middle area -one’s chair gets hit and jostled all the time. It is very disruptive and spoils any ambience and conversation. I really liked our waiter, but it was so busy that we had to wait way too long for service all during the meal. I think the food is good, but those tables for 2 in the middle are awful.
Great bruschetta appetizer. All of our meals were wonderful, with generous servings. Ambiance could be improved by removing a table or two to provide more room. Packed pretty tightly
Another great dinner from our family go-to restaurant. Exceptional food in large quantities, with stellar service.
Table was not ready
Service was excellent. Two of the three dishes ordered were very good, the pasta with saffron sauce was a bit weak in flavor and a little too thin a sauce. Feel a little "squeezed in" as tables are very close together and can easily hear conversations going on next to you. That being said, would definitely go back and try other dishes
Seemed to be understaffed. Waited a long time from the salad to our main course. Ceasar salads were nothing special and croutons tasted old. My wife ordered the fettucine and it had absolutely no flavor to the point she had to ask the waitress for a salt shaker and the noodles were overcooked. My dish had noodles with shrimp and a pesto sauce --it was just okay. Heard so much about this place and really wanted to like it-- but the food and service fell short of our expectations.
Our server was amazing!! Food was phenomenal and the place is just so quant! With nice jazz music. We brought our 70+ year old mother and our 2 kids. Easy breasy .... spaghetti sauce for kids was spicy!
Had heard great things but disappointed with food. Lettuce for salad was wilting and lobster in pasta was not good.
We’ve eaten at Italian restaurants all over the world, and this one is comparable with the best of them. Even the restaurants in Italy.
If you are anywhere near this restaurant, and you want to plan a meal out for a night, this is a place you need to experience at least once.
Thanks for the great service Greg!
The waitress was amazing, and the food was so yummy.
Excellent pasta. Great ambiance. Quite pricey for a family!
I hesitate to do this but we feel very let down by Primo. We made reservations for 11-16-19 and noted in the reservation that it was our 24th wedding anniversary. When we arrived the hostess seated us next to two other couples right in front of the kitchen. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever that it was our anniversary. We both ordered the Lobster Pasta (we almost always do) but it came out with too much lemon with killed the flavor.
The hosted was a young lady so she must have not read our reservation or did not care. We have gone back since and 10 times in 2019 prior with bills over $100 so do the math. Sadly our last two expereices have killed Primo for me. My review on 2-8-19 was a high point, unfortunately I no longer desire to eat at Primo
A hidden gem!
We had a great time with family. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. Space is limited but Wonderful service and exceptional food. We will definitely be back.
This was my second time dining at this restaurant, the food and experience as very good. The only negative wad that the bread that was served was warm on outside and cold and dry on the inside which leads me to believe it wasn't freshly made that evening and was a left over from the previous day.
Best fresh hand made pasta in the twin cities.
The tables are very close, it feels like a fishbowl if you are sated in the middle tables
Been too long since we have been here. Food was excellent, as was the service. Attentive servers and the food was quickly given to us which was much appreciated as we had a concert to attend. Funny thing is, we never mentioned it to our server, it appears that it is their norm.
The Seabass is as good as it gets between NY and SF...the setup is kind of heavy (Jasmine rice, Brussels Sprouts, and Bacon). We get it over sautéed spinach and Brussel Sprouts (Ex rice and Ex Bacon). This place is fit for Foodies but the space is just OK.
Always a good meal. Nice to have a good place in Long Lake
Super delicious food, scratch kitchen, excellent service! 100% recommend!
The discounted wine that was available during our dinner was nice. Food was good, with many selections for every taste palette.
Good local spot for dinner. Food is reliably good and service is friendly. Saturday evening the lace is a bit rushed and serve is not as attentive as on other occasions when we have dined at Primo.
This little restaurant reminded us of something back East. Clearly a popular local spot. Every thing cooked fresh in house. Very tasty bolognese sauce, yum. Most impressed with the quality of service. My guest is on a low salt diet, and she immediately offered advice and cautions on various selections my guest proposed. Really appreciated her.
This place is a gem!! Amazing service, scratch made pasta and yummy wine list. It is perfect for date night, and priced well. Highly recommend....way better than other options in Long Lake and surrounding area.
This is one of my favorite restaurants, it's one of the only places where I am not afraid to explore the menu and try new things. I'm usually the type to find a favorite entrée and then always get that. I had the butternut squash ravioli which was fantastic!! My husband had the Linguine shrimp pesto, which was also delicious!! The hand made pasta is amazing!!!
We're lucky to have this little gem in our neighborhood!!
We had an amazing anniversary dinner at Primo! Food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. Definitely recommend.
