Primo Italian American Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
We try to find a restaurant half way between Lombard IL and Milwaukee because our daughter and son in law live up there. This was for husband/fathers birthday celebration. We were all very happy with Primo. Our server and the staff were all great and the food was delicious. We were able to relax and visit as we were there from 3-5, less busy. We will be back!
I went here on a Friday, about a year ago. The place was packed - the food was mouth-watering, delicious!!
I went there this past Monday for my birthday, expecting the same delicious food. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon, with quinoa, and broccoli. It was average - the food wasn't hot, and had very little flavor.
I'm not sure if the quality of the food depends on who's cooking Monday vs. Friday. I'm sure the
better chefs cook on the weekends. Sorry, but I was really disappointed, and my guests were too.
I do plan on trying it again - on a weekend date - to see if there's a difference.
New Years Eve dinner was fantastic! Very attentive staff and service was prompt. The only bad thing was some debbie downers at another table wanting the fun lights turned off :( Boo! Stay HOME, its NYE people!!! But back to the restaurant - well decorated, clean and a nice variety on the menu. Would definitely visit again. Worth the price! I had the fresh oysters and Caprese tenderloin. Hubby had the tenderloin and loaded potato, and our son had the Mediterranean Sea Bass. Perfectly done!
Once again, another exceptional meal at Primo. Our party had reservations for 3:00 in the afternoon allowing us to order from the dinner menu. This was a good time for us as we were the only patrons at a table and the restaurant was quiet. (The noise levels during peak times in this restaurant are its only drawback) Our waiter was well versed and though always seen, he never hovered.
Service is always top notch, and the food is some of the best in the far northern suburbs. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Except for the tomato bisque soup (bland, probably from a can, with a soggy goat cheese crouton) and uninspired salads, every thing was good. Some nicely priced wines, always welcome to see.
We always get the octopus appetizer. It’s fabulous! We enjoyed the short ribs, lamb shanks and teriyaki salmon for our entrees and finished our meal with an order of the beignets. The presentation of the beignets was charming and the 3 dipping sauces were wonderful. Our server, Andy, was very knowledgeable.
We’ve dined at Primo previously and when Becky and Aubrey are serving the bar tea the service is always top notch. This particular Sunday there was a new server and it was just one bad experience after another. We ordered a nice bottle of wine which the server poured without offering a taste and poured the glasses so full and fast that wine splashed onto the table twice. He didn’t even offer to wipe the table down. We ordered the same dish which the server forgot so we had to reorder. And when the dishes arrived mine was incorrect. We were watching the football game that evening, a point made to the server when he asked, and then less than 60 seconds later he turned the one of two TVs we were watching over to a hockey game. We quickly asked him to turn the other TV back to the football game which he did but by then we missed the last 2 plays of the 4th quarter. We asked him for the check and he forgot. We had to flag down the hostess to close us out. Never dining there on a Sunday again.
Was very mediocre. Most of the hot items were cold and just not very impressive. Lots of choices in the cinnamon rolls were a nice touch but again they were luke warm and nothing special service was okay for a buffet but overpriced for quality. I had been there for dinner and felt the portion were too small for price.
I have been there for dinner and the food was fine. Nothing fabulous, but the atmosphere is great. Upscale, but comfortable. So for a special occasion it’s nice. I took my mom and children for brunch and for the money I would say never again. The only thing I really wanted was eggs Benedict, but a man who was there before me littered took like 6 and left nothing. By the time they refilled the eggs Benedict, I was full. The table side cinnamon rolls look great but they are dry and cold so no to that. Chicken Marsala was bland and the pasta was mush. The penne vodka was also bland. The chopped salad had good flavor but it was watery.
We came in after a long day of christmas shopping. We were tired and and a little crabby. Our server, Shannon instantly changed our mood. She answered all our questions and made a few suggestions for my daughter who is a very picky eater. I really appreciate that as sometimes eating out with her can be less than fun. Our food was wonderful and the service was outstanding! We will definitely be back, and we will definitely be looking for Shannon to be our server.
Every year my team at work gets to choose a restaurant for our holiday dinner and this year they chose Primos. To say it was a great choice would be an understatement. Our server was incredibly efficient yeah knew the right times to come to our table and went to leave us alone to chat. The food was spot on perfect. Among other things, we had the seafood tower, steak, Spicy seafood and pasta and pretty much all the sides. Everything was perfectly prepared and delivered properly. I can’t wait to go back. Our server, Marco, went out of his way to make sure we were completely satisfied
