I was looking forward eating here with my friend. I made reservations for the patio. I was disappointed with the patio seating. It didn’t match the excellent interior decor. It was basic and uncomfortable.
The service was not to par with an establishment such as this. Our needs were not anticipated, we had to flag staff for bread, water, and for the coffee that was ordered.
The food was good, but the service and setting made it seem average at best.
Limited menu and extremely overpriced
Our favorite venue in Tucson. StArt with a cocktail on the patio at Starr Pass resort, then patio dining at Primo.
Absolutely fantastic meal. The food was marvelous, nicely paced over the course of two hours. Never rushed so we were able to socialize with our friends. Wait staff was very good and the ambience of PRIMO cannot be beat.
The mussels du jour were cooked with sherry and bacon--delicious! My sea bass was cooked perfectly but my husband's frito misto was a bit oily. They brought back the goat cheese cheesecake and it's really good.
We had the family pasta special - 4 people for $80 with salad, pasta and dessert which is a great deal! The chef’s whim pasta was incredible! And our service was great!
Beautiful restaurant with farm to table menu. We had the filet and the chilean seabass. Both could not have been better. The side dishes were creative, healthy and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Tucson.
celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at Primo...each of us enjoyed the wonderful sea bass main and a surprise dessert from the kitchen...
Went in for date night and had an excellent experience. Definitely will be back!
The menu is very well populated with dishes would like to eat. I thought the prices were good and the wine list is pretty extensive. If you're going to stay at the hotel, eat here.
The food is divine, and Jessica is a fantastic, personable server.
The views are great, the food is awesome, and the service is top notch.
Fantastic meal, first time having eaten there, a 30 minute drive plus but worth it,will of course be baxmck. Our server Sarah was very knowledgeable about the menu ,suggestions, favorites. Great sense of humor, the food runner for her Vanessa was great as well. Thank you to both and chef ,GREAT MEAL. Can't wait to take my sister there when she visits from LA Jolla. Thank you
The food was okay but not memorable for the price and the menu is limited
Great meal wonderful staff. Beautiful locatiom
Went for our anniversary. Staff was very attentive and food was delicious. It was a wonderful experience.
Excellent staff. Very attentive. Excellent food. Venison was delicious
Sara, Vanessa and the entire staff did such a great job making me feel “at home.” And the scallops are amazing!
The service was fantastic and the food amazing!
Dinner, food and service were very good but it's missing that extra thing that gets it to five stars. I really wanted it to be an outstanding date night. Best thing we had was the frutti mari because of the variation in fish and vegetables. We had the bolognese and the beef tenderloin for dinner which were both good but we've had better.
Trekked our to Starr Pass for something different for my husband's birthday. Great decision! The food was great. We started with the scallop and octopus app--delish--then my mother-in-law and I had delicious sea bass, my husband had rack of lamb. We finished with their generous birthday cannoli and chocolate gelato that my husband, a true gelato looks ver, said was the best he'd ever had. It's pricey, but special. Great evening. We'll be back.
Dinner in Primo was amazing as always. Thank you Cerbi and Sarah for taking care of us, and thank you to the entire kitchen staff for making an awesome meal. It was great to see everyone!
Primo continues to have the best ingredients and most careful and innovative cooking in Tucson for a large high-end restaurant. The crab-stuffed snapper with shrimp risotto last night was delicious, and my husband really liked the new lasagna, which was a bit too rich for me. Cerbi continues to be an outstanding server.
Great service. Not so great food .. pretty salty.
My fiance and I were having a staycation at Starr Pass this past weekend, and decided to dinner one night at Primo to celebrate our engagement and recent new home. First off, the setting is beautiful! The views are gorgeous, and the restaurant is quiet and pretty. The service is wonderful as well, but the food just blew us away. The baked brie is delicious, heck even the bread they bring out before your meal is amazing. I had the papardelle with scallops (homemade pasta, flow in fresh seafood), and my fiance had the pork saltimbocca - both were one of the best meals we've had in a very long time. For dessert we had the made-to-order Italian donuts, and ended up taking home half to eat for breakfast the next morning. Just a truly lovely restaurant, perfect for a special occasion, and extremely delicious food!
I stayed at the resort and reserved a table at the restaurant with my girlfriend for our anniversary and the service was terrible. My girlfriends meal came out cold and we were not respected as guests.
If the asparagus "gazpacho" special is available, I highly recommend it--it was cold, refreshing, and delicious! My salmon was cooked perfectly: medium well, as I had requested, and came with some terrific roasted veggies. The pork lasagna is new on the menu, highly recommended by the cook staff, and we'll try that next time. If you're adventurous, try the foie gras gelato--it's outstanding!
There was such potential for this restaurant to be fantastic, but it fell short on every level. The waitress sporadically visited, she tried to fix the wobbly table we were at outside when our table was full of food and beverages (lifting it precariously toward myself in the process), and the food was nothing to comment on. We really wanted to love this restaurant... but basically decided it was worth driving a half hour somewhere else for dinner another night instead. We were very disappointed.
The service and every bite were top notch! We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and our anniversary and each were made more special by the thoughtful and creative staff with beautifully crafted desserts following our tasty meals. Thank you for a lovely evening and a fabulous meal. We will be back!
Great ambiance, great food, quiet location. Canoli for dessert was excellent!
Delicious food and table service was exemplary. We had such an enjoyable evening and our friends were very impressed with the special treatment
My husband brought me to Primo for our first anniversary. He had the lamb, I had the sea bass. Our food was delicious. We ordered dessert and they decorated our plate with hearts and the words "Happy 1st Anniversary". We had a small issue but they were quick to fix it and humble in their apology. The entire staff is warm, welcoming and attentive. The cannoli and zeppole were the perfect desserts. Definitely give Primo a try. We created great memories and the staff helped make that possible. Thank you Jose and Katie.
If you like foie gras, don't pass up the foie appetizer--it's great! The confit bread pudding that accompanies it is okay, but the foie is unusual and delicious: cold, smooth, and highlighted with some honey brittle crumbs. The lamb chops are really big and tasty, with a terrific mustard crust. I wasn't crazy about the farro and greens, but the fresh beets were very good. The budino dessert was pretty, and good, but not like any budino I'm used to--this one was more like a cake.
Great menu interesting wine lists
We had eaten there before and had been impressed. We had great anticipations for a wonderful birthday dinner with friends. We continued with anticipation even though our drinks & wine took 15 + minutes to be delivered. The menu selection was surprisingly limited and the prices started at $35 to $195 (no problem if there were adequate selections).
Our dinners took almost an hour after we finally ordered to be served, and others that came in later were served ahead of us. We had to stop other waitstaff just for water refills. After dinner (we waited about 15 minutes--no one available) we didn't see our waitress and I had to find her inside. I also requested the Maitre' d. He was 'ineffective' to say the least.
I finally commented that this was a highly rated Marriott, and that if I were a quality shopper 'the entire restaurant would have a very bad day the next day'.
OUR PARTY CONSISTED OF FOUR (4) PERSONS - AGED 70 YEARS TO 81 YEARS OLD. THE STAFF WAS EXCEPTIONALLY CORDIAL, RESPECTFUL AND VERY ACCOMMODATING. WE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT OF THIS DINING EXPERIENCE.
Well I was impressed with food, however, it was our anniversary and it took forever for us to get our food. We were informed their was a conference so noise was expected. Loved our waiter who was very informative. Price was not an issue, our tab was $175.00 and I tipped the waiter $45.00. We had reservations but we were delayed by additional twenty minutes. Service just needed some more attention.
This was not our first visit to PRIMO but it was our best. When you visit the same restaurant more than a few times, you get to where your expectations are set and having the food, the service, meet or exceed those expectations is the exception rather than the rule. Last night, every expectation my wife and I had was exceeded and a new standard set.
The meal was exquisite. From the Field Greens salad to the mussel appetizer special to the entrees of Chilean Sea Bass and King Salmon, the food was excellent. The timing of the meal allowed us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed or pushed, and time to visit with each other which we normally do not find the time to do.
The service was outstanding from the moment we were greeted at the entrance to the restaurant to the staff thanking us for coming as we were leaving. The Manager of PRIMO came by the table at least three times to check as he did for all of the guests.
If you are looking for a special place in Tucson to have dinner with a special person, PRIMO should be at the top of your list.
Great food, creative recipes and top notch service.
Our favorite place in Tucson for a special meal. Upscale but nested into it's desert surroundings - inside or outside - the food is always spot on from the bread and olive oil to to the appetizers and main course. Special take on mostly Italian but great fish and meat entrees.
