The atmosphere was good. The food cooked to perfection. The price of dinner was definitely pricey. The waitstaff was attentive.
Providence has an abundance of wonderful restaurants. This isn’t one of them. When I booked the reservation for this first time visit, I anticipated a typical high end steak house, based upon the menu and pricing. Instead, we arrived at a “steakhouse” that is located within a “dance” club. The interior design is straight out of “Miami Vice”. The food was mediocre at best. The steaks were all overcooked, as was their “signature” salmon. Sides were equally disappointing. The final insult was the 3% surcharge that was hidden in the check for “non-cash” payments; in other words...for anyone paying with a credit card, which is everyone. My best advice is to make another selection to scratch that “steakhouse” itch. This one will leave you feeling deeply unsatisfied.
Services was good food not so much

We went during restaurant week in January 2019. There was only about 10 other customers besides my party of 7 but the food took much too long to arrive. Appetizers came almost 25 minutes after we ordered. Our entrees, did not get to our table for at least 40 minutes after. Our server was very nice, but not once did he offer an apology for how long the food took to arrive. The food, when it arrived was delicious and hot, but the length of time to wait for our food was unacceptable.
Service and food was subpar - not what you would think from the prices on the menu. The biggest surprise was the "non-cash adj" that was on our credit card receipt. Nowhere on the menu or on the doors leading to the restaurant was there a sign saying we would be charged that if we used a credit card. Poor business practice for a restaurant that considers itself to have a "dining experience second to none." Capital Grille or Flemings would say different.
The place was very nice inside, however the price and food didnt match. Way too much money for a very little bit of food, with very limited menu. We did this for New Years with reservations and too be honest I would never do again or recommend. The quality of the food could have been better including more steak options, better cooked and better prepared.

Our server was pleasant but overall we were disappointed with our meal. Although there was only one table of customers that was finishing up when we arrived and no additional customers, food was not served for over an hour. They did not have everything on their very limited new menu. There was no presentation in their plating. Basically, the warm steak was on a white cold plate without anything else, unlike the photos on their website. The sautéed mushrooms I ordered were definitely canned mushrooms. We ordered cheesecake to go; unfortunately it tasted like it was frozen previously and had a cardboard aftertaste. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this steakhouse to anyone for any occasion.
Overpriced!!! No wonder there were just 2 couples at 7:30pm in the whole restaurant. Steaks came out looking worse than 99 steaks but priced at 4x. The apps were also gross in desperate need of seasoning.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service
The restaurant isn't in the best neighborhood, and there was only on street parking. But the building itself was very nice, and the decor is high end. We got seated in a nice big wrap around booth, and the server was very friendly and helpful. We were the only ones there, which at 7 on a Thursday night was a little surprising. One other couple came in during our meal, but other than that we had the place to ourselves. We had the bruschetta, which was very good, and we each got the 16oz ribeye, which again, was excellent. Lobster mac & cheese and sauteed mushrooms as sides were also delicious. Everything about the place was very good, and the prices were not cheap, but they were also not as expensive as a Capital Grille or Fleming's.
It was a pleasant surprise, food and service were good. Will come back
The restaurant is hidden inside an old building (some might say "run down") that has been made into a nightclub and restaurant. Once inside, you'll be impressed with the decor - reminiscent of art deco with a modern twist. We went on a Sunday night and there was only one other couple in the restaurant, so service was excellent. The food was good, perhaps not great, but you won't regret it. We will definitely be going back.
I am not one to write reviews. But what a fantastic dinner! It was our first time at Prime Cut Steakhouse and we went to dinner with some friends It was delicious and the service was great too! We as a group ordered the risotto balls and calamari. Both were fantastic. For entrees, there were filets, Strip steak and the lobster ravioli. The meat was prepared as we ordered and was flavorful. The lobster ravioli was full of lobster and the pink vodka sauce and was one of the best that I have eaten. It also had shrimp which was an added bonus. For sides we had the truffle fries, lobster mac and asparagus. Again, fantastic! Yes everything is a la carte, but that is to be expected in steak houses. We will definitely be back! Kudos to the Chef and the staff!
Not impressed at all! The actual decor is beautiful, but there was no one to greet us when we walked in. We waited at the door for a few mins there was NO ONE there. A few mins later a waiter walked out and seated us right in front of the door, even though the place was empty. I could see the kitchen from where I was sitting, people going in and out of the restaurant, (possibly employees picking up paychecks) they were chattering. The waiter had a smile on his face but wasn’t inviting, possibly because we came in at 8:45pm. We ordered quickly asked for recommendations, waiter gave us recommendations, ordered appetizer, which was really good. When food came in we were shocked! We got the steak, since we were in a steakhouse. The waiter brings in two plain cuts of steak with NOTHING on the side!!!! I waited to see if sides were coming on a separate plate, but nothing came! One steak was $39 and the other one was $27, ala carte???? I have NEVER, seen something like this before!
My husband ate his steaks which wasn’t cooked as asked, it was chewy and dry! I ordered the filet mengon, of course it was ala carte, which I could NOT eat plain at all! I don’t recommend it at all, I will not be back again!
My partner and I went there for the first time for our Valentine's Day dinner, and were supremely disappointed.
The restaurant is located inside of the fancy club, Mezzo, but it had no street sign indicating the restaurant was inside. Once inside, the interior decoration was bleak and minimal with only black and white tables and chairs. The pale white LED light overhead and the lack of background music whatsoever made it feel less like a restaurant but more like a cramped business conference room. The romantic ambiance at Mezzo with great music and exotic lighting made the contrast even more blatant.
Additionally, we waited for 15 minutes and my partner had to finally get up to get his own drink from the bartender (The waiter was only serving 3 tables!). With the restaurant sparsely seated, it took 30 minutes for our entrees to come out.
The quality of the food was ok, but it was still overpriced for its quality. In the end, the waiter finally brought out the bread, after we finished our entrees! I guess he did this either because he was a terrible waiter or the restaurant was trying to save money.
What a let down.
We were turned off by the decor right away. The lighting was very bright and the room was small and oddly designed. The waiter did not know the protocol for the bottle of wine we ordered. My $47 steak tasted flat and had no seasoning on it. And the staff twice told us about the jazz band that was playing next door. We won’t be back.
The hostess was excellent but after that the experience was awful. I ordered a filet it tasted as if the meat had turned. When I mentioned to waitress she talked to chef who offered me a free dessert, no apology for bad meat. This was a $40 steak which I couldn’t even eat and yet it stayed on the bill. My friends salmon was undercooked and inedible. After the offer of free dessert was declined we never saw waitress again.

Asked for a table in upper section, there are approx 6 -10 tables. Hostess said
all reserved. When we left at 7:15, 1 table had a couple seated there.
Only other table occupied in resturant was 6 noisy ladies on cell phones.
Will not return.
There were 4 of us in our party for my anniversary dinner, and no one else in the restaurant the entire time we were there. The drinks took forever to come out, and we ordered a bottle of wine, and the waitress told me I could pour it myself, with the cork in it still. That was strange. When I went to order, they didn't have 2 dishes that I wanted to have. We received the appetizers ok, and the food came out really quickly after. The waitress asked us to cut into our steaks to see if they were ok, and all of them were over cooked. My in-laws steak was suppose to be rare and it was medium well if not well done. My husband and I , all of our food was cold, like not warm at all to the touch. We first sent back the bernaise sauce as it was cold and hard. When she came back we told her the food was cold, both steaks, potato, everything. She went and got the chef. He asked what could be done to make our meal better, I told him I would like hot food, and it was over cooked. He sad it just came off the grill, it clearly didn't and it was really embarrassing that a restaurant could have a 'chef' on staff that would think serving the food like that was acceptable. I told him if he thinks the food he served is ok, then there isn't much I can say about it. He walked away in a huff. We asked our food to be removed from the bill, and they took everything off except the fries, as those were actually hot, and we had a few. We left and went to Al Forno, which is where we should have started. Save yourself the time and don't go. It should be an indication that the restaurant is empty and I had to our my own wine that we should have left.
We had a wonderful time. The food and wait staff were fantastic. We will return.
I showed up at my reservation time. There were no other customers. There were no employees . It was a completely empty restaurant. It appeared to be open but no employees. I waited a couple of minutes and left. One of the more bizarre dining experiences of my life.

Loved the restaurant! Food was great...neighborhood was weird...not a steakhouse looking area. We had a late reservation and were able to park right out front but I can only imagine if it was crowded we'd have to park on the Wendy's or Walmart lot. But...besides all that...ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS restaurant, elegant, charming, romantic....and great food.
Well meaning but young and inexperienced staff. Food was either overcooked or plain which is inexcusable at this price point. The appetizer, however, showed some promise the rest of the meal forgettable.

Then we were told that the club was only playing cape verdian music when in fact outside was not.
The food took forever to come out and was mediocre at best.
Chicken was bland.
Brussels sprouts were charred to death and potatoes were tasteless.

Never eat there! The drinks were mixed wrong. The lobster bisque was COLD. The creamed spinach looked like spinish served in a a bowl of skim milk! The $10 bearniese sauce for my steak, was semi frozen!!! The water was from the tap . No bottled water offered.

We were the only ones in for Mother's Day brunch at 11am. Food was great, service was good . It did seem like it was everyone's first day when we had called prior about menu and parking. Also when I walked in I wasn't exactly sure where to go , but once I walked inside.... beautiful. Loved the decor and it was a great brunch spot. Def a diamond in the rough . Wish there was bread in between ordering and food, other than that the food was great! Steak perfectly cooked, avocado toast out of this world and the crab cakes stuffed with amazing crab. Thank you for being a great host to our Mother's Day!
The ambience for this restaurant was very nice. The food was good but not amazing, especially for the prices listed. The service was very good and the food was served hot. My favorite fish was the baked potato which had a crispy skin and lightly salted. Very flavorful. I don't recommend the Primecut corn. With they're name on this item I was looking forward to something special but it was just corn in a bland cream sauce. The corn did not look fresh either. I would not recommend this restaurant since the prices are very high for the quality and quantity served.
The outside my not look great but the inside is setup with great contemporary decor. Food was good but service was slow die to an inexperienced server.

My daughter gave my wife and I a Groupon for Primecut. When I told a friend about it, he purchased one also. We made a reservation for 4 on a Saturday night at 6:30. It is in somewhat of a sketchy area however there is valet parking. There was only one other party in the restaurant when we arrived. As the night went on, several more groups arrived. It was probably 1/3 filled by the time we left which was around 9:30. The restaurant itself appears to have been recently renovated and is very nice. Some of the other reviews complain about the service however our server did a great job. She however was unable to pronounce several of the specials. We had a few questions on the entrees and she had the chef come out to our table. The menu indicated Shrimp Scampi accompanied a particular steak however it wasn't offered as a separate entree. The chef said he could offer it as an entree. We were surprised when we saw it was 38.00 on the bill. The menu prices are close to twice as much as you would expect to pay for an entree in providence. I had the 10 oz filet mignon which was excellent however it was 48.00 a la carte. The side dishes are reasonably priced at 10.00 and are large enough for 2. I ordered a glass of pinot noir and was informed a short time later that they were out of that brand however they had a different pinot noir that was a 2.00 difference. I asked if it was 2.00 more or less and of course it was 2.00 more. I would have expected to be given the available pinot noir at the same price as the one I ordered.
On the whole, the restaurant was very upscale, the food was excellent and the service was fine. The prices are too high.
If we did not have a Groupon, we never would have tried Primecut. I think I will stick with Capital Grille.
