Prime29 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Steak and most of the food was excellent. The waiter (Besnik) was terrible. The other servers were great. The waiters table side manners made our experience a 3 Star out of 5. The general manager apologized but did not offer any discount or coupons. However he did say he hopes we return in the future. Hostess confirmed he has had several complaints.
Tried Prime because of restaurant week special. We were seated but nobody came to our table for atleast 10 min. Had to go to hostess stand to request a server. People who were seated after us were a knowledge. Waiter gave us a quick “I’ll be right w u”. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and I requested medium. Server brought steaks and mine was rare so he took it back. My husband was waiting til I got mine and when he cut into his it was well done. Server blamed him for not cutting into his to check. Once the steaks arrived they were good. Too much aggravation for the price. We won’t return.
I am a huge Prime 20 fan. Unfortunately this visit left a lot to be desired. They were offering a special menu and it seems they were overbooked. I had to wait for my table, and the food was underwhelming. My steak ( which has been cooked to perfection on every other occasion) was over cooked.
This was our first time to Prime 29. The food was excellent as was the service. We truly enjoyed our evening out for my birthday with friends. Even though we do not eat meat or shellfish ee has the Sea bass which was fantastic. The truffle fries were the best fries I have ever eaten! Would definitely return for a special occasion.
Overall food quality did not justify the premium price. A similarly priced meal at the now closed “Coach Insignia” in Detroit would have far surpassed this in both flavor and quality. Fit and finish of the amenities fits the price point, but the food just doesn’t quite match. The sides however were more gourmet than the entrees. My wife had the sea bass, while I had the filet.
Service was bad from ordering all the way to getting the check. No one check on us to make sure our food was ok. Complained to the manager and received a gift card for a future meal. However not sure we will go back. Our waiter had a party of 16 that took a majority of his time and his attention. Should have had a additional waiter helping him or our table given to someone else to serve.
Came here for my girlfriends 21st birthday, the ambiance is very nice and relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, we brought it in our cake and they stored, cut, and served it for us. The food was excellent, the lobster Mac and cheese in particular was outstanding. The steaks were all cooked perfectly, the calamari was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place for special occasions, as it is pricey.
When I made my reservation through Open Table I mentioned we would have one plant based diner and one person in a wheel chair in our party of three. They called me back to make sure they would be able to take care of the plant based diet requirements. Always a good sign. I told them their menu was filled with vegetable options and I would be fine. They seated us immediately and we ordered cocktails that were generous, as were the wines by the glass. My wife and mother-in-law loved the crab cakes and the gnocchi with crab in a cream sauce, something they never had before. My salad and vegetables were well seasoned and also large portioned. The staff checked in to make sure everything was satisfactory. A wonderful dining experience for all of us.
Great service, great cocktails, great food. I will say, however, that the "Oscar" option is not worth the price. The hollandaise is wonderful and the crab tastes fresh but I would have expected more for the $. I would also forego the Truffle Fries if you really like Truffle. Sadly, I didn't detect any "Truffle" flavor.
