Prime Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Steaks were good but way under cooked. I ordered my filet med + and it was more to medium rare. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and was more to rare than medium. Nether steaks were very juices. We enjoyed our dinner. The salad and soup were both very good as well as the sides.
The wait staff were very attentive. If they say your water glass empty regardless if it was their table or not they stopped by our table and refilled them.
Would recommend eating here but remember to order your steak a little more done than usual.
The steaks are the best. Not inexpensive but worth the money considering the ambiance as well. Making and early reservation for a special occasion, we got the private dining area. Cozy and private. Our waitress Kim was exemplary in her attentiveness while also being very pleasant and had a great sense of humor. I would definitely recommend asking for her. This is one of the most expensive restaurants in Key West, but if you are in a mood for meat, it is well worth the money if you want a special evening.
I found prime on Google as I was looking for a top quality steak with local seafood while my wife and I were in Key West on holiday. I'll start the review with the food. The shrimp starter was delicious, with a bed of the, freshest, strongest horseradish I've ever had supporting four delicious, and huge shrimp. I chose the surf n turf for main and my 8oz lobster tail, and 10oz fillet steak were cooked beautifully, and as I asked. The truffled macaroni side I ordered was also nice. My wife had the fish of the day, topped with a crab cake and Asparagus, which she found delicious, and very filling.
Our server, Sterling (I think he was called) was nice and helpful in explaining the special's. However I, and the table opposite us felt that quite a few other people seemed to be getting a lot more priority service as we had to wait a long time for starters (+35mins, it was only chilled shrimp) and the bread came with the starter, cold, with no butter. In fairness to our server I think some of this was due to a loud group behind us demanding a lot of our server, and another group who ours, and the table of 3 opposite me assumed were regulars as all the servers were very attentive to them but seemed to serve us as and when they remembered. A shame as our sterling was a nice guy, when he was with us. As a Brit, and a member of CAMRA I would say the two beers I tried were poor and flavourless, and overpriced! Especially given the choice of wonderful craft ales available in the USA nowadays .
This website asks if I would recommend Prime, so I'd say give Prime a go as the food is excellent, however only go when it is quiet as the service, and crucially the "details" are not worth the cost, I have had much better timing of the food in considerably cheaper places, which is sad as the restaurants core food is really lovely. To summarise, Our food was lovely but we wouldn't go again as we know better overall options are available in Key West.
The hostess seemed to be inconvenienced by our request to be seated outside. There was a lot of confusion about who was serving us which worked to our advantage as we were well taken care of. Outdoor seating had little ambiance especially for being in Key West. Enjoyed our meal.
Six of us to celebrate daughter’s 30th Bday while in Key West for a wedding. Great steakhouse, but don’t go if looking for local color. Go for the meat. Big steaks (I should have shared my delmonico, and two of the guys went for the 24oz bone-in ribeye...huge. Careful if you order that rare, it was truly rare (cold in middle), but that’s a true rare I guess and server kindly offered to give it a few more minutes. Sides are separate and large, we shared asparagus, hash browns and a Mac and cheese , all good. With 2 bottles of lower priced wine we were >$600. A friend had ordered a cake delivered and server kept that a surprise and graciously served it. A great evening for the Birthday Girl, top notch service.
Found this restaurant on our trip to Key West last year. It is located above Dante"s pool/bar. My wife and I went their that night for a great romantic dinner . We have now been back to Key West 2 more times and when we planed our trip the plan included dinner at Prime, every time the meal and service were outstanding. Two of our dinners included 6 of us and all 6 had a great meal including several fish entrees , my favorite is the NY strip and I can not wait to return to Key West in February and enjoy another great meal.
Great place! This was my first time here, and I was PLEASANTLY impressed! My wife and I went on a date here, and we were blown away! I guess if I "had" to complain, then the mashed potatoes were a little dry. But other than that, it was amazing. Thanks guys, I will be coming back again.
It's nice to have a really good steakhouse in a little town like Key West. I've lived here most of my life, and while the local catch is awesome, I do sometimes crave steak done above the merely acceptable level of the local "Aussie" franchise. The sides are huge and meant for sharing, and the appetizers are nice, too, but the feature is the meat. Good cuts, skillful preparation, and simple presentation.
Visiting Key West with my wife and son and his girlfriend looking for a nice steakhouse to go to ... I had heard a few people mention this spot and they were right on the mark. Great meal, great service ... great time. I would recommend and definitely visit again when in Key West.
First time visiting Key West and Prime came highly recommended. Courteous, knowlegable, and attentive staff. Bartender patiently identified a wine for my wife's palette (She rarely drinks so she provided him with no reference). He found her the perfect wine within 2 samples. Excellent menu and wine options. Desserts are not an after thought, but reflect the same attention and creativity as the main course. Our server Pavel attended to us expertly the whole evening, and our host was very accommodating to seat us 30 minutes early as we had a change in schedule which allowed us to arrive early. Everyone was top notch.
Dinner consisted of Escargot w/ garlic, butter and seasoned to perfection. Not the standard 3 or 4 at some eateries, but several. Oysters on a half shell, delightfully fresh. Mutton snapper stuffed with crab w/ hollandaise and creamed spinach w/ garlic. Boneless ribeye medium rare with garlic smashed potatoes. Keylime pie dessert.
We will absolutely be dining here in the future.

Reserved a table at what is supposed to be the best steakhouse on the island for Tiffany's Birthday dinner. I had to return my steak 4 YES 4 times to get it right. Lynn and Tiff ordered there steaks medium and they came out rare.... When the manager came over we explained that the steak was suppoaes to be medium she said that is how THERE steak house cooks a medium steak. Needless to say I was not impressed with this whole experience. They took off our sodas and gave us dessert for free. But charged FULL price for ALL the steaks even after the horrible experience. I would not recommend them to anyone...Going to get off my soap box now I am so upset about this....but not going to ruin my vacation...
