Prime Rib & Chocolate Cake Ratings and Reviews
A place that includes “prime rib” in the name shouldn’t run out of prime rib by 7 pm. The waiter was rude and literally came up to us and said “I hope you didn’t decide yet because we just ran out of prime rib”. We didn’t get an apology or any kind words from management. Don’t go here.
Service is poor, server never introduced herself, didn't come back to check on us after food was delivered, and never asked us about our drinks and there was only one other table in the dinning room. It said reservations recommended but was empty when we arrived, we waited 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us at the door, even though multiple employees walked by. Prime rib was amazing though! Price is high, should include a soup or salad to start but didn't. I would maybe recommend just based on food alone, the prime rib is delicious.
Service was slow. Waited 15 minutes for a beer and a gin and tonic. Wine choices were week. All the reds were wine I could buy for under $15 at the grocery store. The prime rib was good but not medium rare that I asked for. It was overheated. Husband’s fish was good. The server brought us our bill without even offering us he dessert menu. With “chocolate cake” in the name of the restaurant, you’d think that would be a given. My left over prime rib made a delicious breakfast omelet.
We asked for the Kid's meal first and it was served within 2 minutes! That was a pleasant surprize! It was our 31 year old daughter's Birthday which we announced to the waiter. For the price of all our meals we did expect at least an icecream scoop with a candle....we were disappointed. The waiter barely wished her a Happy Birthday...also his service was pleasant but very slow, considering the place was almost empty he disappeared for long times during our meal. The Prime rib was delicious and done to perfection. My Chipotle Prime Rib was too salty for my taste. The Sirloin Steak was medium as we ordered but too black and tough on the outside, almost charred. We all liked the carrot/red pepper veggies. Also the Restaurant was freezing cold and most other guests also had their jackets on. The waiter did adjust the heat per our request.
This was our 3rd trip to PRC and our first date night in months, usually our experience is great.... We arrived for our reservation and were treated by a nice women who informed us they were out of Prime Rib! But they still had steaks (not even close to the same thing.) We sat down at the bar and looked at their menu, literally everything on their menu evolves prime rib in one way or another. We weren't going to pay $35 for a sirloin steak. So we finished our drinks and scrambled to find a new date night location. Very disappointing.
Was really looking forward to this. Everything was going good but we came on a Saturday at 630pm and the place was dead. Hmmm. Made me wonder. Our server was fine. We ordered two dinners. Both came to the table incorrect. One of as an easy fix, the other had to be redone from scratch. We got generic apologies but nothing else. $80 for dinner for 2 and it was just a “meh” ok experience. Maybe that’s why the place was so slow?
I made reservations here after being told it was a great place to go, that was not the case! When we walked in we waited to be seated for 10 minutes, mind you there was no one in front of us, and plenty of seating available, but more importantly 4 different employees walked past us and never said a word. The food was just OK, for the price! Our table was set in the corner of the restaurant, our server was horrible. We had to wave here down to get our beverages refilled, and when we asked for condiments she delivered them at the end of the meal! Definitely a disappointment when I was told it was a great place for a special occasion celebration!
We have been to PRCC many times and have always had a good experience. I wouldn't say this most recent experience was bad by any means. But it just didn't stand out like it used to. We were seated promptly and our server was pleasant and attentive.
It was the food. We used to be able to order different add ons to the prime rib meals, this is no longer an option. There was A LOT of fat on our prime ribs. I ordered the lava cake and there was no lava. It was just a small bunt cake. My husbands chocolate cake was rather dry as well. It tasted like day old cake.
Nothing was overtly terrible. Just sub-par for what we have experienced in the past. It seems to have turned more into a hipster bar. I wouldn't say we won't ever be back, but its definitely changed since the last time we ate there.
Made a reservation and asked for a quiet spot for our anniversary dinner. They put us in two different places that were noisy. Even after I asked again for a quieter location. We ended up moving to the bar where it was very quiet. Our server was very nice but the service was very slow. Our prime rib was rare as ordered but chewie not tender . Other wise the food was good.
Overall the petit cut prime rib dinner was okay. Though, I was disappointed about the quality of beef. It did not have that "melt in your mouth" quality I was expecting from a steak house. In fact, it had a chewy texture and was tough, with little flavor. Admittedly, my expectations were high. I rarely eat red meat, and when I do, it's organic, grain-fed Harris Ranch beef from Zupan's, which is consistently excellent, tender and flavorful. However, the chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream made up for it.
Went for my sons birthday. Also the first time many of our friends/ family visited. Out of mashed potatoes. Out of chili. Out of.... apparently there was a "rush" right before us. Was told that "a bunch of people came in and all left. Something must be going on at Moda" great. 10 people tops in restaurant (although I did make a reservation hmmmmm). Drinks empty. Waiter / waitress MIA. Went to bar to order own drinks since appetizers and round 1 of drinks long gone. Also, told them it was my sons b-day and special occasion . Crickets. Again family and friends visiting. Stopped to get candles on way home :( Not sure I'd go back
Only 2 of us and it took over an hour from the time of ordering until food was on the table. It would have been delayed further if we didn't change one of the sides as the one we asked for wasn't prepared or they were out of it. The waitress didn't ask us about that until after about 45 minutes of waiting. The restaurant was not busy at all, not even 20% of the tables occupied. They gave us free dessert but we had to take that to go because we were there much longer then we thought we would be, when we got home and opened the bag we saw that they only gave us ONE slice of cake that we shared (we were expecting one for each of us).
I've been here before as the name of the place made me laughed and a friend and I just had to try it. I have to say that was a positive experience and delivered exactly what was promised. However, on this return visit we were disappointed. They ran out of prime rib by 8:30p on a Saturday! C'mon folks! It's the name of the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't even busy. I feel like that was something the maitre d' could have led with before we went to get drinks and wait for a friend.
