Prime Rib & Chocolate Cake Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time going to prime rib and chocolate cake. It was a date night for me and my husband. We loved our meals. I had the knife and fork prime rib sandwich and he had the fish and chips. We also shared an order of the stuffed potato rolls. I even topped off my meal with a lava cake. It was all so delicious and food came fairly quickly. We expected to spend close to 100 bucks but our entire dining came to less than $50. Great value! We will definitely be back.
The food was delicious, and the service was slightly above average. We were here for our 13th anniversary, which happens to also be Valentine’s Day. That being said, I made reservations about a week in advance. The only negative aspect about our experience was that the hostess sat us in the middle of the room at one of the tables, instead of showing us to one of the many vacant booths. Maybe I am just being picky, but I was expecting to be sat at a more private booth given that we had reservations and it was Valentine’s Day.
We had a wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely go back. The chocolate cake is to die for 😀 this is also in a great location on Broadway, easy to find. The cost fit in with the menu and was not over priced. I would recommend the apple pecan salad, it's like a party in your mouth!
And....they have bacon gravy!!
Food quality was OK but flavors missed the mark. Our group had signature Prime Rib as well as the Salmon plus a combo order of Prawns + Fish Chips. We expected better execution ... especially with this being the same company that owns Newport Grill, Portland City Grill and many many more great seafood and beef establishments.
Our waitstaff was fantastic ...
This was our first visit to Prime Rib & Chocolate Cake. Of course, we ordered the Prime Rib and the Chocolate Cake; both of which were very good. The Prime Rib was cooked as ordered and the cake was firm, but moist. The waiter was attentive at the appropriate times. There were two large groups, a High School winter formal group and a marriage proposal, each with over 20 patrons. Noise was very well contained so general conversation could occur during the meal.
Looks great from the exterior. Any ambiance ended walking through the door. Over priced diner. Prime Rib very disappointing. Mashed potatoes Luke warm and hard, very plain. Wife liked the Brussel Sprouts and carrot medley but that was it. Didn’t stick around for the Chocolare Cake. Server was ok, not spectacular. Not a venue we’ll return.
The menu is so limited. I know it's called Prime Rib and Cholocate Cake, but come one have more than just THAT on the menu. (ok there is more than those two items but not much more; one stake, one fish one chicken item). So I asked if they had a hamburger and was told that they did, but that it was only served in the bar. If I wanted a hamburger I would have to move to the bar. Really? It's literally the same kitchen that makes the bar food and it's right there in front of us. The Bar is 30 feet away. There is literally NO one in the entire restaurant but us. Never going back there.
A place that includes “prime rib” in the name shouldn’t run out of prime rib by 7 pm. The waiter was rude and literally came up to us and said “I hope you didn’t decide yet because we just ran out of prime rib”. We didn’t get an apology or any kind words from management. Don’t go here.
Service is poor, server never introduced herself, didn't come back to check on us after food was delivered, and never asked us about our drinks and there was only one other table in the dinning room. It said reservations recommended but was empty when we arrived, we waited 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us at the door, even though multiple employees walked by. Prime rib was amazing though! Price is high, should include a soup or salad to start but didn't. I would maybe recommend just based on food alone, the prime rib is delicious.
Service was slow. Waited 15 minutes for a beer and a gin and tonic. Wine choices were week. All the reds were wine I could buy for under $15 at the grocery store. The prime rib was good but not medium rare that I asked for. It was overheated. Husband’s fish was good. The server brought us our bill without even offering us he dessert menu. With “chocolate cake” in the name of the restaurant, you’d think that would be a given. My left over prime rib made a delicious breakfast omelet.
We asked for the Kid's meal first and it was served within 2 minutes! That was a pleasant surprize! It was our 31 year old daughter's Birthday which we announced to the waiter. For the price of all our meals we did expect at least an icecream scoop with a candle....we were disappointed. The waiter barely wished her a Happy Birthday...also his service was pleasant but very slow, considering the place was almost empty he disappeared for long times during our meal. The Prime rib was delicious and done to perfection. My Chipotle Prime Rib was too salty for my taste. The Sirloin Steak was medium as we ordered but too black and tough on the outside, almost charred. We all liked the carrot/red pepper veggies. Also the Restaurant was freezing cold and most other guests also had their jackets on. The waiter did adjust the heat per our request.
This was our 3rd trip to PRC and our first date night in months, usually our experience is great.... We arrived for our reservation and were treated by a nice women who informed us they were out of Prime Rib! But they still had steaks (not even close to the same thing.) We sat down at the bar and looked at their menu, literally everything on their menu evolves prime rib in one way or another. We weren't going to pay $35 for a sirloin steak. So we finished our drinks and scrambled to find a new date night location. Very disappointing.
Was really looking forward to this. Everything was going good but we came on a Saturday at 630pm and the place was dead. Hmmm. Made me wonder. Our server was fine. We ordered two dinners. Both came to the table incorrect. One of as an easy fix, the other had to be redone from scratch. We got generic apologies but nothing else. $80 for dinner for 2 and it was just a “meh” ok experience. Maybe that’s why the place was so slow?
I made reservations here after being told it was a great place to go, that was not the case! When we walked in we waited to be seated for 10 minutes, mind you there was no one in front of us, and plenty of seating available, but more importantly 4 different employees walked past us and never said a word. The food was just OK, for the price! Our table was set in the corner of the restaurant, our server was horrible. We had to wave here down to get our beverages refilled, and when we asked for condiments she delivered them at the end of the meal! Definitely a disappointment when I was told it was a great place for a special occasion celebration!
