What is happening to this place?
Visited this restaurant about 5 times now not including happy hour in the bar, not the greatest but never disappointed. Usually do cocktails, apps, main course, and dessert. Not the last time, was notified before being seated that they are out of prime rib! (It's Saturday night at 8pm). The sign on the door says "Prime Rib".
Should have left but the hostess double check the kitchen and told us there's 2 cuts left so we stayed which was a mistake.
Waited 15 minutes for someone to get our drink order, 10 minutes to get our drinks, ordered our dinner with the drink runner and didn't know who our waitress was till she delivered our dinner. There seemed to be enough wait staff and the restaurant only had only 3other tables. Food was disappointing also.
The prime rib was excellent as was the chocolate Cake! They atw true to their name
Disappointed 😔 . Server was not friendly. They were not busy but, still never came to check on us or ask if everything was ok. Until he brought the bill.
He didn’t explain anything. He brought us bread but no oil. We had the artichoke shrimp dip... but No longer has shrimp. Then we asked for baked potatoes ... didn’t have that...
just seemed like we weee a burden that interrupted their set up/ first hour... and that they had talking and socializing to do before they wanted to serve.
We never were asked about dessert or told what their was until we asked after we waited for 30 minutes after we were done eating and they came back to bring the bill and oh, ask how was everything!
Honestly we got there at 2:55, walked in at 3:00 walked out at 4:35 and we were the first people in. There was two other tables that came in after us and then two or three tables all small in the bar and that was it! So, it couldn’t have been that they were super busy!
Special date with my son and sdaughter Inlaw celebrating college graduation and this is how it was.
They both had never been there and they were super excited to go they also said they were very disappointed .
It was rather cold in the dining room. Food was good but waiter was not readily accessible and left us for too long before checking on us.
Would have made rez for 5 but open table said no availability, so we made for 4 people. Surprisingly the restaurant was only half full with lots of options to seat 5. I'm not sure why OT said no availability. Food was good, French onion soup cheese a little burnt. Prime rib cut was good. Love the chocolate cake and a la mode. Service little on the slow side even though restaurant not full.
Good food and good service. The chocolate cake was not my favorite but the prime rib and was amazing. All the appetizers were great as was the bread!
Reminded me of a diner, like Shari's.
I think it was a former Safeway in the mall. Needs blinds on the windows, dinner lighting & tablecloths. Food was very good. Service was slow even though the place was almost empty. No Sinatra or any music as their website claimed. Ambiance is important for a steak dinner.
My husband and I ate there the first time this week.(Older folks, by the way.) What luck that recently he had to leave the freeway due to traffic issues and he saw this restaurant we hadn't tried! We went on Saturday night March 17th. We had a 7:00 reservation. It wasn't too crowded but there were several birthday parties going on which lent a festive air. The waitress brought bread and salads very quickly and was very attentive. Wish I could remember her name--she was very pleasant and good at her job. My husband had a prime rib which turned out to be bigger than he expected but that didn't stop him from eating it! I had the cod fish and chips which were delightful! We couldn't eat dessert there so we both brought home the chocolate cake and ice cream which we have been enjoying for a few days now! Our experience was great and we will return with family and friends! (I have already recommended it to someone.)
Good food and good service. Nice atmosphere
Granted, it was a Monday. We went to celebrate a birthday. As we entered, they told us they were out of Prime Rib. Ok, that’s fine, we can be flexible. ( I did wonder why they didn’t call and tell me as they seemed very concerned at the door).
They seated us. The place was EMPTY! We were the third seated table. We got our menu and started to check it out. I would say 75% of what they served was Prime Rib. When the server returned to the table I wanted to clarify our options. I asked if any of the other prime rib options were available (thinking they may have set aside prime rib for some of he other dishes that weren’t full cuts of meat). Nope. Only the prime rib chili.
Service was good, music was good, it was a little on the cool side. The servers were attentive without being overly attentive.
The roasted brussel sprouts were amazing! It’s a shame there wasn’t the main dish (prime rib) at Prime Rib & Chocolate Cake. We took it all in stride... it makes for a good story.
Food was OK. Prime rib was tender chocolate cake was moist but not overly chocolatey baked potato could of baked longer.
For the price the food was average
This was our first time going to prime rib and chocolate cake. It was a date night for me and my husband. We loved our meals. I had the knife and fork prime rib sandwich and he had the fish and chips. We also shared an order of the stuffed potato rolls. I even topped off my meal with a lava cake. It was all so delicious and food came fairly quickly. We expected to spend close to 100 bucks but our entire dining came to less than $50. Great value! We will definitely be back.
Overall the restaurant was a nice peaceful romantic ambiance. The only problem we had was we were freezing. The food was great and didn't want it to be finished
They do a good job with prime rib, but they should. It’s in their name. My martini was good and the desert was great excellent. I’ll try it again for happy hour some time.
As the name of restaurant would lead you to believe, the prime rib and chocolate cake were out of this world. It felt like our appetizers fell a bit short in flavor though.
The food was delicious, and the service was slightly above average. We were here for our 13th anniversary, which happens to also be Valentine’s Day. That being said, I made reservations about a week in advance. The only negative aspect about our experience was that the hostess sat us in the middle of the room at one of the tables, instead of showing us to one of the many vacant booths. Maybe I am just being picky, but I was expecting to be sat at a more private booth given that we had reservations and it was Valentine’s Day.
The prime rib was delicious and tender. Done to perfection. Enough we took the extra home and got another meal out of it. The chocolate cake was decadent.
The food was good! The drinks were not as good, however.
This is a great family friend, comfort food diner.
The food was very good. I thought it was going to be a little more upscale, but the prices reflected that it was a casual restaurant. All in all I would return for tasty casual meal. Only complaint is the wine selection could be bigger.
We had a wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely go back. The chocolate cake is to die for 😀 this is also in a great location on Broadway, easy to find. The cost fit in with the menu and was not over priced. I would recommend the apple pecan salad, it's like a party in your mouth!
And....they have bacon gravy!!
The steaks were great and so was the chocolate cake so they delivered on their name. The service was also very attentive and our order arrived just as requested. A very nice meal before a concert.
Food quality was OK but flavors missed the mark. Our group had signature Prime Rib as well as the Salmon plus a combo order of Prawns + Fish Chips. We expected better execution ... especially with this being the same company that owns Newport Grill, Portland City Grill and many many more great seafood and beef establishments.
Our waitstaff was fantastic ...
We felt like we were in a madeover Denny's. Menus were plastic and easy wipe. Prime rib was mediocre, cake was good and cocktails better than average.
This was our first visit to Prime Rib & Chocolate Cake. Of course, we ordered the Prime Rib and the Chocolate Cake; both of which were very good. The Prime Rib was cooked as ordered and the cake was firm, but moist. The waiter was attentive at the appropriate times. There were two large groups, a High School winter formal group and a marriage proposal, each with over 20 patrons. Noise was very well contained so general conversation could occur during the meal.
Looks great from the exterior. Any ambiance ended walking through the door. Over priced diner. Prime Rib very disappointing. Mashed potatoes Luke warm and hard, very plain. Wife liked the Brussel Sprouts and carrot medley but that was it. Didn’t stick around for the Chocolare Cake. Server was ok, not spectacular. Not a venue we’ll return.
The menu is so limited. I know it's called Prime Rib and Cholocate Cake, but come one have more than just THAT on the menu. (ok there is more than those two items but not much more; one stake, one fish one chicken item). So I asked if they had a hamburger and was told that they did, but that it was only served in the bar. If I wanted a hamburger I would have to move to the bar. Really? It's literally the same kitchen that makes the bar food and it's right there in front of us. The Bar is 30 feet away. There is literally NO one in the entire restaurant but us. Never going back there.
So disappointed. We were the first customer’s yet there was no medium rare prime rib. They never asked what we wanted on our baked potato so we got everything. Service was ok, but the prices are extremely high when you can’t get food the way you desire.
A place that includes “prime rib” in the name shouldn’t run out of prime rib by 7 pm. The waiter was rude and literally came up to us and said “I hope you didn’t decide yet because we just ran out of prime rib”. We didn’t get an apology or any kind words from management. Don’t go here.
Service is poor, server never introduced herself, didn't come back to check on us after food was delivered, and never asked us about our drinks and there was only one other table in the dinning room. It said reservations recommended but was empty when we arrived, we waited 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us at the door, even though multiple employees walked by. Prime rib was amazing though! Price is high, should include a soup or salad to start but didn't. I would maybe recommend just based on food alone, the prime rib is delicious.
Tried some where new for My Birthday dinner PRCC was a great pick. Service was great food was oh so yummy not very busy on a sunday evening. Had the place to our selfs!
Very little value for the money...went on a Thursday night and our group were literally the only people there.
Prime rib was tough and the baked potatoes over cooked.
Service was slow. Waited 15 minutes for a beer and a gin and tonic. Wine choices were week. All the reds were wine I could buy for under $15 at the grocery store. The prime rib was good but not medium rare that I asked for. It was overheated. Husband’s fish was good. The server brought us our bill without even offering us he dessert menu. With “chocolate cake” in the name of the restaurant, you’d think that would be a given. My left over prime rib made a delicious breakfast omelet.
Very good food, very slow service. Not crowded at all! Steaks cooked perfectly.
We asked for the Kid's meal first and it was served within 2 minutes! That was a pleasant surprize! It was our 31 year old daughter's Birthday which we announced to the waiter. For the price of all our meals we did expect at least an icecream scoop with a candle....we were disappointed. The waiter barely wished her a Happy Birthday...also his service was pleasant but very slow, considering the place was almost empty he disappeared for long times during our meal. The Prime rib was delicious and done to perfection. My Chipotle Prime Rib was too salty for my taste. The Sirloin Steak was medium as we ordered but too black and tough on the outside, almost charred. We all liked the carrot/red pepper veggies. Also the Restaurant was freezing cold and most other guests also had their jackets on. The waiter did adjust the heat per our request.
Great service and food! Wonderful holiday dinner with family. We'll definitely be back!
Great food and excellent service! Recommend it highly.
This was our 3rd trip to PRC and our first date night in months, usually our experience is great.... We arrived for our reservation and were treated by a nice women who informed us they were out of Prime Rib! But they still had steaks (not even close to the same thing.) We sat down at the bar and looked at their menu, literally everything on their menu evolves prime rib in one way or another. We weren't going to pay $35 for a sirloin steak. So we finished our drinks and scrambled to find a new date night location. Very disappointing.
Was really looking forward to this. Everything was going good but we came on a Saturday at 630pm and the place was dead. Hmmm. Made me wonder. Our server was fine. We ordered two dinners. Both came to the table incorrect. One of as an easy fix, the other had to be redone from scratch. We got generic apologies but nothing else. $80 for dinner for 2 and it was just a “meh” ok experience. Maybe that’s why the place was so slow?
Garbage! Enough said! In would never come here again or recommend anyone to eat here. This place is a joke.
