I would NOT return to Primavera. The food and service were lacking.
I told the waiter I had food allergies--allergic to wheat. My entree was served with GARLIC BREAD on TOP OF THE FOOD! Do they understand about food allergies and cross contamination? I ordered additional vegetables with my entree-- never arrived. The Cioppino was terrible--very salty, not much other flavor, the fish was like cardboard--dry and tasteless. The broth was terrible.
The web site is misleading. They highlight gluten free deserts--cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. The flourless chocolate cake does not exist. The cheesecake has a bottom crust the is made from FLOUR-- so it IS NOT GLUTEN FREE. Offering to " cut off the crust " is NOT GLUTEN free. Deceptive web info and a staff that needs food and allergy education.
Our experience was so good we returned the next day for dinner
Our server was great, but I don't recall his name. Has been there forever. Swordfish was truly outstanding.
The linguine with clams were the best I have ever had and a very generous portion. My husband had the filet which was cooked to perfection. What an enjoyable dining experience.
This venue is a must for San Diego dinning ; clearly in the top 5 .
If your seated in Arturo and Manny's section be prepared for exceptional service and recommendations for both food and wine. The menu is top shelf but the specials on this Saturday evening were extraordinary.... opah canneloni, baked barramundi, or munkfish. Starters were top quality and wine selection was well paired.
Not inexpensive, but this small ristorante is worth the price.
Sophisticated modern Italian decor in a relatively small restaurant. Multi-level seating provided a feeling of privacy. Interesting and different Italian food choices, well prepared and presented.
Decent wine list. Could use a few more wine choices on the lower end Italian wines.
Service was excellent. Limited parking but not a problem on a weeknight. All in all, a very satisfying dining experience.
As usual a great meal and even better service will be back soon
We were there for the Easter brunch. The food was great. The Bloody Mary was too small for the price but was good.
Great food and service
Loved this place. Loved it so much we are returning with a bigger group. Delicious food and excellent service. Some of the best food in Coronado
This is an excellent Italian restaurant. The bruschetta was easily the best I've ever eaten. Our waiter, Omar, was professional and helpful.
Very great place to eat. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Coronado.
High priced slightly above average food.
Fourth straight year we’ve come to Coronado for a stay. Prima Vera is a must at least once each year. Love everything about it.
I am an admitted Italian food snob. Primavera was phenomenal. So good, in fact, that we returned for a second night during our short trip to Coronado. The Osso Bucco was divine. The risotto incredible. The pappardelle bolognese was one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. The grilled artichokes and the bruschetta were also great appetizers. My only regret was that we didn’t have room for dessert! Can’t wait to return.
Highly recommend- everything was terrific!
Attendant staff and good meal.
Very Good. Food is delicius
An excellent experience. Extremely accommodating for our group dinner. A great night out for our business group.
Atmosphere is on the formal side, low lighting, banquettes, etc. Food was not as good as it has been in the past. Overall it was a nice meal. Good service. We have been here before. maybe it will be a while until we return.
This was a wonderful choice for our 27th wedding anniversary...the salad with pears was exceptional. My lamb chops were delicious. My husband got the carbonara and really loved it too! They comped us tiramisu for dessert and it was the perfect ending! Loved this place so much. We will definitely go back!
What an amazing Valentines Day menu! Absolutely exceptional. The filet mignon was perfect. The atmosphere is sophisticated and very romantic. Highly recommend.
Arturo was amazing as was the entire staff. Such a hidden secret...gem of a restaurant.
The food was really good. However, we ordered a appetizer at the bar prior to our reservation. It took 30 minutes before it was severed to our reservation table.
I will try another Italian restaurant next time I go to Coronado.
Excellent service staff, knowledgeable and very attentive. Good well presented and flavorful.
We went to Primavera SPECIFICALLY to have a nice quiet elegant dinner and avoid the Super Bowl. We thought this restaurant would be great for that. There were other diners that were obviously there for that reason also...well the nice quiet ambiance with the nice relaxing music was shattered because of a lone slightly drunk women at the bar who felt it her duty to applaud and yell loudly at every play for her team. She was also encouraged by the bartender to get into e game as he seemed to be watching also.
As a matter of fact, even though we were at the far back table and the bar was at the front, the partition opening lent itself to the tv noise...especially when she said "turn up the tv".. which the bartender did willingly. We could tell other diners were getting annoyed.
We were going to order dessert and after dinner drinks, but left instead to have it somewhere else.
The manager shouldn't have even had the tv on. It was obvious diners were there to avoid the game and the sports "ambiance. "
From start to finish, this was one of the best dining experiences I have had. Admittedly, I am not a frequent visitor of the more upscale (or expensive) restaurants around, so my experiences may be skewed a bit. However, the staff was excellent, very attentive and always seemed to be smiling! What a great atmosphere! Now, the food was something else, it was phenomenal. From the appetizer of the stuffed mushroom to our entrees, all was well worth the price. I only felt bad that I was unable to eat all of the wonderful risotto, it was my first ever -- and it was to die for! The meal was finished with a complementary dessert and coffee, which made it feel even better (if that were possible!). If I am ever in this area again for a special occasion, I will certainly be returning here to relive the experience.
Excellent meal! We will go there on future visit!
Amazing.. best waiter ever... 20 hrs experience
Primavera is our all-time favorite Coronado restaurant.
Elegant, old school atmosphere . Staff were all professional, efficient, and friendly. Food was delicious, and attractively displayed. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We were very impressed by the quality and value of Primavera. The food was well prepared with fresh ingredients and the service was superb. 5 stars all around ! Cheers
Another superior meal at Primavera
Always great!!!
Just me and spouse for a winter break in Primavera. We know that they menu, built on sound foundations, varies with season and times. The specials are great and hard to resist. For veggie and fish fans like us, there is plenty to choose from. The Hendrick's Martini was fabulous, the service was just right. Most importantly, we love to share dishes and the staff divided them (very generously!).
Always our choice for birthday and anniversary celebrations and we are never disappointed!
This was our first time at the restaurant and we will definitely return. The food was great. They do have happy hour and I would like to try it sometime.
Since it was NYE they had a prix fix menu. Great options and the food was really good. The service was seriously lacking. Water was left empty, food took forever to come out, and getting a dirty plate off of the table was like pulling teeth. Funnily enough, the tables around us didn't have the same issue. I had previously read a review that said they also had issues with service, but older guests around them received prompt service. That review seemed to conclude their poor service was due to their young (or perceived young) age and I would have to agree. We won't be back.
My wife and I have been eating at this restaurant for many years because it has consistently been delicious food served in an elegant environment. However, my wife, daughter and I were disappointed when we dined there on New Years Eve. First of, the waiters were no longer in their Tuxedos which added elegance to dining. Instead they were wearing ties. Two of us ordered the filet mignon from the fixed menu. Normally, this is absolutely wonderful, but not tonight. The meat was served warm at best and was not tender as normal. My beat salad was mediocre at best. I don't know if the restaurant is under new ownership or if they have changed chefs, but we were all quite disappointed with our dining experience. This restaurant has always been quite expensive but we were happy to pay more for what used to be exquisite food, in an elegant atmosphere, served by great waiters in tuxedos. We will probably give it one more chance, but if the New Years Eve experience repeats itself, we will not be back.
Just wanted pasta.. wow we had that and more!
Excellent staff.. we were seated in the upper part and we loved that.. usually sit downstairs. Food fantastic, had my pasta. Wonderful wine.. everything was first rate ..
