Primavera Ristorante- Coronado Ratings and Reviews
This was a wonderful choice for our 27th wedding anniversary...the salad with pears was exceptional. My lamb chops were delicious. My husband got the carbonara and really loved it too! They comped us tiramisu for dessert and it was the perfect ending! Loved this place so much. We will definitely go back!
We went to Primavera SPECIFICALLY to have a nice quiet elegant dinner and avoid the Super Bowl. We thought this restaurant would be great for that. There were other diners that were obviously there for that reason also...well the nice quiet ambiance with the nice relaxing music was shattered because of a lone slightly drunk women at the bar who felt it her duty to applaud and yell loudly at every play for her team. She was also encouraged by the bartender to get into e game as he seemed to be watching also.
As a matter of fact, even though we were at the far back table and the bar was at the front, the partition opening lent itself to the tv noise...especially when she said "turn up the tv".. which the bartender did willingly. We could tell other diners were getting annoyed.
We were going to order dessert and after dinner drinks, but left instead to have it somewhere else.
The manager shouldn't have even had the tv on. It was obvious diners were there to avoid the game and the sports "ambiance. "
From start to finish, this was one of the best dining experiences I have had. Admittedly, I am not a frequent visitor of the more upscale (or expensive) restaurants around, so my experiences may be skewed a bit. However, the staff was excellent, very attentive and always seemed to be smiling! What a great atmosphere! Now, the food was something else, it was phenomenal. From the appetizer of the stuffed mushroom to our entrees, all was well worth the price. I only felt bad that I was unable to eat all of the wonderful risotto, it was my first ever -- and it was to die for! The meal was finished with a complementary dessert and coffee, which made it feel even better (if that were possible!). If I am ever in this area again for a special occasion, I will certainly be returning here to relive the experience.
Just me and spouse for a winter break in Primavera. We know that they menu, built on sound foundations, varies with season and times. The specials are great and hard to resist. For veggie and fish fans like us, there is plenty to choose from. The Hendrick's Martini was fabulous, the service was just right. Most importantly, we love to share dishes and the staff divided them (very generously!).
Since it was NYE they had a prix fix menu. Great options and the food was really good. The service was seriously lacking. Water was left empty, food took forever to come out, and getting a dirty plate off of the table was like pulling teeth. Funnily enough, the tables around us didn't have the same issue. I had previously read a review that said they also had issues with service, but older guests around them received prompt service. That review seemed to conclude their poor service was due to their young (or perceived young) age and I would have to agree. We won't be back.
My wife and I have been eating at this restaurant for many years because it has consistently been delicious food served in an elegant environment. However, my wife, daughter and I were disappointed when we dined there on New Years Eve. First of, the waiters were no longer in their Tuxedos which added elegance to dining. Instead they were wearing ties. Two of us ordered the filet mignon from the fixed menu. Normally, this is absolutely wonderful, but not tonight. The meat was served warm at best and was not tender as normal. My beat salad was mediocre at best. I don't know if the restaurant is under new ownership or if they have changed chefs, but we were all quite disappointed with our dining experience. This restaurant has always been quite expensive but we were happy to pay more for what used to be exquisite food, in an elegant atmosphere, served by great waiters in tuxedos. We will probably give it one more chance, but if the New Years Eve experience repeats itself, we will not be back.
I have been here numerous times before tonight but it was a first date and a birthday. The service as always is impeccable and the staff are always courteous and cater to your every need.
The food is just as fantastic and the deserts are to die for.
My date was very impressed and that is something.
Well done to the staff and a big thank you for your attention to our every need.
We love Primavera and visit every time we come to Coronado (a fav. getaway). Service is just top notch. The food is not avant garde, but "classic," and pretty much superbly prepared across the board.
This trip, they accommodated my wife, a vegetarian, with a made-veggie risotto (including fresh fig!). The menu is not veggie heaven, but my wife has always done very well, if you ask. I had a pasta Bolognese, which was in my opinion on par with the best I have had in Bologna. Bolognese is one of my test dishes that I frequently try in order to compare Italian restaurants. Their carbonara is a similar favorite of mine. We even got a really good sale price on a wine we like, Silverado Chardonnay. I think they have these wine sales regularly (maybe Wednesdays?); check it out.
Might be classified "expensive," but we gave it a "very good" value rating for all the wonderful things they do for the price. Ambience is up-scale and quiet, and we've done both romantic dinners and family get-togethers.
Was told the carbonara was authentic,
It was NOT. Sticky alfredo sauce. Just be honest!
Our server was put off by my husband and I sharing a meal (we ALWAYS tip as if we both had a meal...we just don't like to waste food, and we're staying in a hotel). Server didn't return ONCE after food was served. Not to even bid us goodnight.
Disappointed in service, and food.
Both my wife and I were impressed by Primavera. The service was attentive without being overly so. The food was terrific. I think the Osso Buco was probably the best we've ever had and their Expresso was one of the finest we've enjoyed. We'll be returning here for certain.
