Presidio Social Club
What Insiders Are Saying
With both food from the 50s and kale, in a pseudo country club environment. Presidio Social Club works out better than we'd have expected.
We were there midday and ordered from the bar menu - ahi tuna and chicken soup. Of the three visits to the restaurant, it was the best experience so far. The restaurant can be noisy when full, and for us midday was perfect as we could carry on a conversation.
My wife had a cocktail; I had an IPA draft. My wife had the liver pate and I had the ahi poke. Drinks were good, food was very good. Prices were a bit high, but . . . that's what you get in SF.
Good meal and quality food. Nice place for lunch with friends.
If there is a way to de-crease the noise level you would make a lot of people happy! 😊 When you have a full house, which is often, it's impossible to have a decent conversation. The noise doesn't stop me from dining with you - but it would sure be a lot comfortable and inviting.
This restaurant is in a beautiful old building with lots of charm and character. Parking is easy which is unusual in San Francisco. They were able to accommodate my food restrictions which was much appreciated. The biggest drawback was the noise level - it was difficult to have conversation with everyone at the table because people couldn't hear.
We arrived early for our reservation and we were one short in our party, the lovely hostesses seated us all the same even though it was busy! Our waiter had great patience with us as our friend ran a little extra late, our service was fantastic, food excellent, they even accommodated some changes to our order that weren’t on the menu, couldn’t recommend this place enough! Always a pleasant experience when I come here and both of my dining buddies were first timers and loved it....
This is a great place to go with a group. The food isn't a big 'wow', but was cooked well, and came out as expected.
We love the presidio social club! But service can be slow and it is on the noisier side. Definitely get the beignets for dessert!
My favorite place to have a business lunch. As a Presidio business owner it makes me proud to take clients to such a special spot. Amazing crab Louie, btw.
Great place for drinks and apps. The service was quite slow, even when we were turning around looking for our waiter. There were only two tables open in our zone, and the restaurant was clearing out... so didn’t seem to be a customer volume issue.
The deviled eggs, ahi tuna app, broccolini, East/West chicken noodle soup were highlights!! Our cocktails were great!
The butter lettuce salad didn’t have any flavor (really - zero), but was pretty on appearance. The asparagus was fine (get the broccoli instead, most definitely).
Overall, it’s a cool place to go in the Presidio. The hostess was nice. I’d probably sit at the bar and order apps/sides in lieu of getting a table in the future.
Service was a bit slow and the waitstaff appeared to be over burdened. Not a bad experience but nothing special.
Excellent location, great food, attentive service!
We were very happy that our request for a table by the window was fulfilled.
And now we understand why we had to make a reservation for a Monday night. The restaurant was full by the time we left at 7:30pm.
It did get a little loud, but not much different then a lot of other restaurants.
Will definitely go back for more!
I love the Presidio Social Club. My husband I drive up from San Jose and meet our son. The service is friendly and fast. Food is tasty and interesting. Love the the people who eat there. It is great place.
Servers on the patio seemed overwhelmed and were not attentive to basic needs like new silverware at the change of the course, or bringing beverages to us in a timely manner.
Otherwise, it was a lovely experience. Bring sweaters or coats as it can be cold and breezy on the patio. They do provide blankets, which the kids appreciated.
A beautiful outdoor area, perfect escape from the city
Eggs benny was very small
For the price
Have been here several times and the food is usually good but there were a couple issues this time. The salmon had a fishy smell and taste and the food took an hour to be prepared. Other than that, we had a nice table and the server was fairly attentive - despite being overwhelmed with too many tables all being seated at once.
Would recommend with some hesitation because the service was so very, very slow. This has been the case the past 2 times we’ve been there, so it can’t be a fluke. Really too bad, because the food was delicious. We got our food an hour after being seated — crazy.
Good food, good value and fun ambiance. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the hostess was great! Either I had made an error or there was a computer glitch and our reservation said only 3 people but we were actually 6! In a few minutes our table for 6 was ready! Very accommodating. I follow a special food plan and our server got things just right. He even had a nice bowl of fresh fruit for me after my entree. The only change I could imagine would have been for our server to take our order sooner.
We will definitely return!
The French toast were amazing!!!! We also tried the chilaquiles and the chorizo with potato and eggs. Everything was so tasty
Too noisy! Only two of us, placed at a small table in the center of a very noisy room
Sat out on the patio on beautiful San Francisco Spring day so everything was positive to start with. Great service, basic American hamburger done perfectly all positive. My only caveat would be that the yummy desserts are VERY sweet and ample portions - most people will probably be happy splitting the dessert assuming you can agree on what to order.
Lovely evening celebrating our daughter's 28th birthday. Since we were a party of 8, we were seated in the small dining room, which was ideal. It allowed us to converse easily with everyone. Service was wonderful and the restaurant brought my daughter a sundae with a candle.
Absolutely delicious, fun atmosphere and easy walk to and from the Palace of Fine Arts where we attended an event. Highly recommend and we'll be going back!
The setting and decor of this updated, yet old timey restaurant was lovely. So nice to have a veggie main option, along with a wide variety of other mains. They sat my party of 8 in the corner at a lovely round table. It was intimate and tucked away a bit, so not as noisy as I thought it might be. The server seemed less than happy to be there. She knew the specials and checked in appropriately, but did not come off as a fine dining server. I will definitely be back!
This was our first visit to the Presidio Social Club and we made reservations based on previous reviews. Fortunately, we agree with all the other OpenTable reviews and really liked the place. The location right off Lombard Street was extremely convenient considering we live in the north bay. Courtney, our server was professional, efficient and friendly...everything you could ask for in non-intrusive, yet attentive wait staff. While the food selections weren't anything extraordinary, my pasta carbonara and my dining companion's meatloaf were well prepared and very tasty. Because we live out of the area, I wouldn't drive into the City just for this restaurant, but we will definitely keep it in mind the next time we visit or are passing through.
Note: the Moscow Mule cocktail was a treat in itself!
Staff went above and beyond to accommodate all
Of our needs and to make it feel very easy for them. The height of quality service and the food and drinks were all delicious.
The PSC is one of my favorite places for lunch. Recently went for dinner. They were pretty crowded and the service was very slow. Food was great though! I’ll be back!
The service has always been bad- expect to wait to be greeted by waiter and also at least 15 min after your done to get your check. But the patio is always where I want to sit and just bring good company to enjoy the time.
A lovely venue for Easter dinner and any other occasion. Simple , honest food, great SF ambience and friendly wait staff
It’s our birthday dinner spot for everyone in the family
This was the worst experience I have had in the three years of visiting the restaurant. The service and staff were unfriendly. Different from the warm and bubbly staff I have come to know. The food came cold/Luke warm.
I took my parents here for their 40th anniversary a few months back - we loved it. Today really changed my mind. I wanted to go somewhere I wouldn’t feel away from home, on Easter. Not sure I’ll come back.
It was a bit crowded due to Easter Sunday brunch. We sat outside and luckily weather was perfect. Food was good and satisfying but not memorable. Thin pieces of ham on plain English muffin with poached egg and hollandaise were decent, but presentation was bland and unimpressive. Small menu. Venue is picturesque. You have to pay for parking there, even on Easter Sunday.
The servers were great but the time between ordering and being served was excessive. In addition, one member of our party was served an entree that was cold when it arrived at the table and had to request it be replaced resulting in further delay. Add to that being seated against a very cold drafty wall ... The restaurant was not overly busy (multiple empty tables) so it is hard to understand the kitchen delays. Although I may return for brunch where past experiences have been good, I am unlikely to return for dinner.
Great spot to take family
The best thing about Presidio Social Club was the ambiance and setting. The food was okay. Service was lacking. We won’t be returning.
Yes! This place is a gem, and the cocktails were creative and tasty!
Great food, good ambiance.
Love this place! Went on the way back to the Peninsula from Muir Woods. Great food, staff and ambiance on a lovely sunny day... can’t fault them! Oh, and very nice cocktails!
Does not disappoint; can always count on a good meal, good bar, and great service.
