Presidio Social Club Ratings and Reviews
We chose PSC based on a prior visit and convenience of location for our friend from Marin. We chose to be seated inside but quickly realized it was very noisy. So we requested an outside table on the patio and were moved immediately. Although the patio was much quieter and perfect for conversation, the sun was in our eyes despite the many umbrellas. It would be helpful if PSC would install a shade that can be raised or lowered when necessary. Service was excellent; our waitress, Taylor, was friendly and delightful. Regarding the food, 2 of us ordered the Vietnamese Vegetable Sandwich with chicken added and were disappointed. It was basically a chicken sandwich with some marinated veggies and wasn't close to the genuine Vietnamese sandwiches we've had elsewhere; even the French roll it was served on wasn't particularly great. However, the dish our friend ordered (mission style chilaquiles) was quite good. So the lesson is stick to the egg based & other more traditional breakfast dishes. Nevertheless, we will try PSC again and be more selective about what we order.
Have been to this restaurant many times. Wondering why, after this morning’s brunch.
The service was slow, the ambiance was loud and the brunch selections were limited.
I was especially disappointed in their not offering anything except mac and cheese
that would be appealing to young children. With as many families as frequent this
restaurant, I am certain that a children’s menu would be appealing.
Perhaps catering to families is not important to them. One clue that it isn’t
is that they do not have plastic cups with straw lids.
i have eaten here before a few times and always seemed satisfied with selection. This place is not cheap but all means. Two of my friends had the short ribs and they were 3/4 's fat. When told to the waitress, she said so sorry, will tell the chef. that 3as a $31.00 plate of 3/4 fat, dolop of potatoes and small serving i think of a vegetable.
I had never tried this restaurant before and thought it would be good to take out of Towner's. It was a great choice. The food and service was very good and it was lively and fun. I definitely would go back--brunch is very good but I want to try dinners there as well.
Disappointing. The food quality was average but certainly not what one would expect for the price. The only item we enjoyed was the wine. We shared 5 appetizers and the soup of the day. Everything tasted bland and unappealing. There are too many other dining experiences to choose from in the city, best to not waste your time or money.
We love the ambiance and the parking here at the Social Club. We've eaten here several times, but we booked a table for 4 last Saturday to celebrate a special occasion only to be disappointed with the food. The sole was over cooked and very dry and the meat loaf also was over done. The service was good; however. We should have sent the food back to the kitchen since likely they would have served something else- or remade the dish. We were in a hurry and didn't want to embarrass our friends either.
Noisy and slow service. Seems to trade on the vibe and nice appearance and Presidio location, but a disappointment overall. If the long bar had been occupied, noise would have been intolerable. Food was generally OK, but not special. Served only a small cup of soup in place of the salad. Eggplant fries could have been special, but were thick and so full of moisture they quickly became soggy. Vegetables accompanying the meatloaf were well prepared, but were ladled unattractively into a small side dish. A glass of white wine was served near room temperature. Generally not attentive to the details that separate the better restaurants.
The place is wonderful with easy parking. The food is very uneven. The mashed potatoes tasted as if they were made out of a box---awful. The service this last time (and I have been there many times) was rushed and overly efficient bordering into unfriendly. The place was not full, so we would have expected greater attention to food quality and to providing friendly and welcoming service.
We had a nice dinner at Presidio Social Club. For appetizers we tried the butternut squash bruschetta and the oysters, and both were good, and the tuna poke which was excellent. For entrees we tried the macaroni and cheese and the roast chicken. Both were very good. Our one complaint is that Presidio Social Club charges what we think is an unconscionable amount for sodas. They charged us $3.25 for a Coke, with no refills. There is no justification for charging $6.50 for two soda fountain cokes. Hopefully they will rethink their no-refills policy.
I have been to the Presidio Social Club a few times. The food always has been unexciting, but decent, and the service mediocre; but on this occasion both aspects were worse than usual. As examples: the eggplant fries were overwhelmingly oily, mushy, and bland; and we had to hail a server after sitting for 10 minutes just to get some water. But, the worst thing of all was the fact that at the tables next to us and behind us, patrons were working on their laptops in the middle of dinner, with their bright screens glaring at us. In one case, this went on for the duration of our meal. We were surprised that the restaurant condoned this, and we won't be going back.
I took my mom here for her 90th birthday. They have her favorite on the lunch menu, liver and onions which she rarely has the opportunity to enjoy. Since my mom is legally blind, I had to cut the meat for her. It was quite tough. I ordered the burger which was $15.00 with no extras but was charged $17.00 (not a big deal but they should keep their menu up to date or tell the customer). My mom ordered coffee with her meal. She was never offered a refill and it is a very small cup to begin with. I had to flag our wait person down several times. The restaurant was not busy at all at 1:00PM during our lunch. When my coffee was delivered it was ice cold. I enjoyed a delicious brunch at the restaurant last year on a very, very busy weekend day. Service was spotty that day as well but I attributed it to the restaurant being so busy. I was quite disappointed with my return visit, especially since it was such a special occasion. They did put a candle on my mom's dessert which was a nice touch. The lemon meringue cake was very good although an offer to warm her coffee would have been appreciated. Sadly, I'm not sure I'll be returning soon. The best thing about the Presidio Social Club is the cozy ambiance, easy access and parking.
This is an old army barracks converted to a restaurant that has the feel of a speakeasy and diner. It is elegant, yet casual and comfortable. A great menu with something for everyone, including a daily special. Service is good and attentive, and the food is delicious. Well worth the drive into the Presidio to enjoy this restaurant and the surrounding scenery.
arrived early for an early 5 pm dinner reservation and told hostess we would have drinks until the 5pm dinner time. Restaurant was mostly empty but had to call a waiter over to order drinks and appetizers. Long wait for wine and appetizers. Dinner waiter was pleasant and engaging but didn't make up for earlier experience. We tried this restaurant because it was close to the Disney Museum. Not worth a second trip.
We had lunch outside on a beautiful San Francisco day. I got the burger with truffle parmesan fries and it was very tasty. The fries were quite yummy and the portion was very large. The hibiscus sangria (non-alcoholic) was also very good and refreshing. Service was very good and attentive. I would definitely go back.
