Presidio Social Club Ratings and Reviews
Excellent service and excellent food. The oysters on the half shell were some of the best we’ve ever had—so fresh! The spare ribs were wonderful. My husband is still raving about them. The ahi was amazing. Our server was personable, efficient, and warm. We will be back and have already recommended PSC to our friends and kids.
We went on a Wednesday afternoon, it was empty, but we were 3 moms with 4 kids, and the servers avoided us like the plague. They didn’t give us plates even though we asked two times, so my friend stood up and took it off the counter. I used to come here as a single person with friends (no kids) and never experienced terrible service like this. Lucky for them their food is delicious, but their hospitality was pretty horrendous. Especially considering how well behaved these kids were being.
This was my first time to the restaurant. Girlfriends and I were having a Holiday celebration. We shared the Beignets and they were lovely. Two of us had the Huevos Rotos and it was one of the best egg dishes we have ever had. The Aperol spritzers complemented the meal. I highly recommend coming here... Cannot wait to go back.
Smashed Peas were fantastic, as was the chicken. Liver and onions not enough food, but rib eye plentiful as was meatloaf. The place was SO loud that we couldn’t hear a word, so ask to be in front room. Corkage too high for locals. Wish they catered more to those who live in neighborhood like so many other restaurants in the Marina where they waive corkage for regulars. You miss the volume of repeats!!
Tough review? I've kinda had it with SF restaurants charging a fortune for a meal that just isn't excellent. Sure, I liked my fish, but it was a little dry. Same with the wine, but again nothing special in the selection. The ambiance was clean, modern...as well as noisy, busy, and kinda cold. I was there for a dinner-reunion with a very old friend, and though it's well located for us to meet I don't think it's going to be our favorite new place.
We love the Presidio Social Club and enjoying taking out of town friends there. Parking is easy and the vibe is always fun. The food was quite good! The service was absolutely terrible. We've never had such poor service. We were there on Monday, 11/27 (party of 4) and our server was virtually absent the entire time we were there. The atmosphere and food were such positives, it's unfortunate that the service compromised the overall quality of our experience.
Went to Presidio Social Club for brunch on a rainy day, but it was nothing but comfort in the restaurant. Service was great and quick, and being vegetarians, glad to see there were options available. Drinks were also great - overall, great atmosphere and ambiance.
Although this restaurant worked in terms of great food and location (we were picking up some out-of-town friends on Lombard who did not have a car) and parking (all four of us are senior citizens and at least one of us was walking with a cane), it was VERY noisy. I think that is due to no tablecloths and hardwood floors. As a result, the sound was bouncing off of everything. I guess I should have checked further into the reviews to see about the noise level. I don't think we will be back, even though the food was great and the service was good.
There was a party of 14 at thebar waiting to be seated next to us. We were jostled and ignored by staff. After complaining to hostess the guests were seated.
I will say the waiter did not charge me for my glass of wine.
I feel that that large a party should have been seated at back of restaurant or in covered garden.
But I will go back!
It said there were vegetarian options, but what that means was you got a portables mushroom on brown rice with Brussels sprouts. A very poor substitute for thanksgiving dinner. Each time I asked about vegetarian options, I would be told no but there are gluten free options (not the same thing). I was definitely not happy that I ended up eating Mac and cheese as my thanksgiving dinner. Will never be returning and will not be recommending this place.
Hostess cold. Never made reservations for outside deck but got stuck there w/no option or sympathy. Exterior quickly turned into a sweaty, plastic enclosed terrarium.
Toast appetizers terrible: tiny bread, hardly any gruyere in cheese version. Beyond 1950s Southern ladies’ luncheon tiny.
Thanksgiving portions profoundly inconsistent. No actual turkey as far as I could see. Cooked only turkey breasts is my guess. I had two tablespoons of mashes potatoes, less stuffing, fewer yams and 8 identically shaped breast slices. Gentlemen next two me had 3/4 C portions of all side dishes and 5 identical pieces of breasts. Pie slices tiny and filling + crust = 1/2 in depth.
Asked for new silverware after every course (5 different times). 300.00 $+ for three meals and three drinks. Absolute scam.
On the plus side, was the best Coach airline meal I’ve ever had.
Will never recommend let alone return. Fire the front desk staff and place management on an unpaid sabbatical where they feel bad for delivering such a horrible holiday meal to families that deserve so much more.
Ick. Shame. Shame.
We had a nice table by the window for group of 5 at a rectangular table. We made that work and when the big group behind us left the noise was much reduced and conversation was easy.
Gluen free options are very limited: the kale salad & frendh fries. It was good. Te fried eggplant is GF but was too sweet for an appetizer. The honey should be left off and replaced with something savory. Meatloaf sandwich pleased my spouse, the chopped liver is just that and not a mousse style which our guest would have prefered. The menu is quite limited. We had a nice bottle of Sancere for a reasonable price. We have eaten here before and I just didn't care for it as much this time. Everything was just not as good as we remembered.
This had become a go-to place for us but unfortunately, we may not return again. For the last three visits we have been disappointed by the food (not that tasty, way too expensive for what is served) and by the poor service (often you need to shout in order to get the attention of the servers, yesterday, my guest finished his meal before the coke he ordered arrived and only after asking the server more than once). This poor pattern of performance is disappointing since the PSC had been a good place for food in a historical setting with available parking. Something has happened and the place is not what it used to be. I will not go back and would not recommend it to others,.
We chose PSC based on a prior visit and convenience of location for our friend from Marin. We chose to be seated inside but quickly realized it was very noisy. So we requested an outside table on the patio and were moved immediately. Although the patio was much quieter and perfect for conversation, the sun was in our eyes despite the many umbrellas. It would be helpful if PSC would install a shade that can be raised or lowered when necessary. Service was excellent; our waitress, Taylor, was friendly and delightful. Regarding the food, 2 of us ordered the Vietnamese Vegetable Sandwich with chicken added and were disappointed. It was basically a chicken sandwich with some marinated veggies and wasn't close to the genuine Vietnamese sandwiches we've had elsewhere; even the French roll it was served on wasn't particularly great. However, the dish our friend ordered (mission style chilaquiles) was quite good. So the lesson is stick to the egg based & other more traditional breakfast dishes. Nevertheless, we will try PSC again and be more selective about what we order.
Have been to this restaurant many times. Wondering why, after this morning’s brunch.
The service was slow, the ambiance was loud and the brunch selections were limited.
I was especially disappointed in their not offering anything except mac and cheese
that would be appealing to young children. With as many families as frequent this
restaurant, I am certain that a children’s menu would be appealing.
Perhaps catering to families is not important to them. One clue that it isn’t
is that they do not have plastic cups with straw lids.
i have eaten here before a few times and always seemed satisfied with selection. This place is not cheap but all means. Two of my friends had the short ribs and they were 3/4 's fat. When told to the waitress, she said so sorry, will tell the chef. that 3as a $31.00 plate of 3/4 fat, dolop of potatoes and small serving i think of a vegetable.
I had never tried this restaurant before and thought it would be good to take out of Towner's. It was a great choice. The food and service was very good and it was lively and fun. I definitely would go back--brunch is very good but I want to try dinners there as well.
