Not enough Vegetarian Options - they need to offer at least a Veggie Burger

Fun outdoor dining in La Jolla. I enjoyed the roasted beet and spinach salad. Make sure you try the roasted chicken - it is flavorful and perfectly cooked. All food was very fresh and delicious.

This spot in La Jolla has become a favorite of ours. The menu items are always fresh and interesting. Two of us had the fish tacos, which were superb; one person tried one of their sandwiches, which as I recall involved squash and pear--she pronounced it fabulous. We had time at the end before our concert to order dessert; we shared the bread pudding, and although we each resolved to take only one bite, it was gone in a flash. Great food, great service.

The experience at PrepKitchen La Jolla was a bit mixed. I enjoyed our tempura cauliflower appetizer, though my boyfriend felt it was on the saltier side. He had a meat based dish which he said was very good, but unfortunately I wasn't blown away by my fish meal. Our server had talked it up as one of his favorite dishes, but unfortunately it didn't match what I had hoped. The fish was the daily catch, a fresh bass cooked to perfection. I didn't realize it was a red sauce preparation though, and I don't usually like red sauces with fish. On top of it was a sweet pepper type topping, and unfortunately I prefer salty over sweet. Overall the service was amazing (they gave us a free and amazing cake slice for a very minor table confusion that didn't bother us at all too much) and while I wasn't thrilled with my food I do believe it was simply a matter of taste preferences. I'd definitely try to go again to try something else.

We were never asked for our drink order until we were asked for our food order & it took a long time after we were seated with a reservation for this to happen. Our food was good & everyone said they would order the same thing again but the service was poor.

The staff at Prep Kitchen were so friendly and helpful! My friend and I went for my birthday dinner. Even though they were closing at about 9:30 pm, they let us stay a little longer and didn't rush us at all, which was really nice of them. Five stars for sure! I plan on coming back.

Stopped by for a quick bite before catching a play at the La Jolla Theater and it was wonderful. Service was fast, food was delicious and the ambiance refreshing. Sat on the patio and soaked in the late summer sun as we ate. Will be back!

Food here is always great. Just beer and wine but certainly sufficient with a good meal. Their roasted chicken is the juiciest chicken I ever had and its delicious. Will always be back.

Food was great. Service was friendly, and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. But, wow, getting the waiter to come back to your table was super frustrating! Waited to order wine way too long, waited to order dinner too long, and waited to order dessert. Our server had tables all over the place, yet others seemed to be only mildly busy. Still a nice place to go for a casual dinner - if you're super patient.

Excellent food and what a great little covered patio. Really enjoyed the food and the setting. The service was pretty slow, but it was friendly and accurate. I would come back here again, some of the menu items are fantastic (bacon wrapped dates and chilaquiles)!

Overall the food was good. I had roasted cauliflower, which was just ok. My wife had the chicken, which was outstanding.
It's a small place with a lot of outdoor seating. On a nice sunny day, I imagine the ambiance would be terrific. When we were there, it wasn't a nice sunny day.
