Prepkitchen - La Jolla
Every time I go to Prepkitchen in La Jolla, I'm always blown away by the food and service. I'm reminded each time why I keep coming back. The menu always seems to have items that will please everyone without compromising quality (so delicious!) nor quantity (ever get overwhelmed by the pages of items menus can have?). The best date spot with your significant other or with friends.
We ate here late on a Tuesday night, it was quiet, there weren't many other people there at the time. Not a huge menu but what we had was good! The inside is very small but they have a cute patio in a nice little area of La Jolla.
Prep Kitchen can be counted on for delicious food time and again, and this was no exception save for some minor issues.
We went for Mother’s Day brunch. Prep Kitchen La Jolla doesn’t have an espresso machine, so no Latte’s, Capuccino, or Macchiato. Some of the full price dishes were very small like the Fresh Berry Toast - 1 piece, small, albeit quite good. Chilaquiles were solid!
Great food, service and a lovely patio. The French toast was heavenly with bananas, pecans and caramel.
My new favorite place in La Jolla. Fantastic, interesting food and delightful atmosphere. Kid-friendly also. Fantastic “cocktails.” The sake margarita is just brilliant.
Brussels Sprouts - the BEST ever !!!!
Service was personable without intrusion.
Great place for dinner before attending anything at The Conrad.
Entree's we tried:
Short rib - delicious and fell off bone.
Salmon with a glaze - delicious cooked to perfection.
Great food, great service !
First-time diners at Prepkitchen, pleasantly surprised. Very nice menu, good value, good location, will go again.
Such a cute space! Definitely make reservations as seating is extremely limited. Service was excellent, food was fantastic and a well valued. I would recommend for everyday dining or a date night. Very intimate and quiet.
The food is outstanding with a really nice, quaint setting.
They made a great effort to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. The brussels sprouts were terrific. The chicken piccata was bland. I never would have thought a cream sauce was what is intended for a piccata dish. I added lime to mine and it helped.
Great food and really nice people
Really good experience-excellent food nice service would definitely come back again!
Our whole group of four enjoyed their dishes. No matter whether you try the Brussels sprouts, or Bacon wrapped dates to start with or dig in to the short ribs, Pasta or chicken, all were amazing.
Well, that was a surprise and a delight. Don't miss it! Going back as soon as we can. Brussels Sprouts with bacon and parmesan cheese, Diver Scallops and the show stopper..Grains and Seeds..ya gotta try it!!
And you'll love the staff. They must like being outside while they work.
This is a very comfortable restaurant that we found very welcoming and the food to be excellent. Patio seating is comfortable (heaters helped because of chill despite gorgeous weather). We enjoyed beers, appetizers (brussel sprouts w bacon are not to be missed), scallops with rissoto, spare rib and found them each outstanding. Service was attentive, friendly without being too in your face or omnipresent. I would gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for an comfortable, outdoor/indoor experience with excellent food and friendly ambience.
Amazing everything! Food and service were excellent. Lovely outdoor seating small place so I think for sure a reservation every time.
This is a must try restaurant in La Jolla. We had a great dinner on the patio. Space heaters kept us warm. Food was amazing. Definitely try the brussel sprouts. Also the beet salad was great as it was smoked table side. Salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly. Their menu changes seasonally.
Service was direct and to the point...not bad not great. Food portion sizes somewhat lacking for the price $29 for 6 ounce petite filet was nice but only came with side of broccolini. Wine pour was good. Overall nothing impressive, but well executed.
Overall only 3 stars because they were understaffed and the wait was too long! We were a party of 7 with a 10am reservation on a Sunday. Our server was amazing and did the best he could, maintained a great sense of humor and totally won us over! Food was delicious all around! Luckily we had time to spare because we had already finished our 2nd round of coffee and the food was still nowhere to be found and we were starving! There were only 6, maybe 8 other people occupying 3 other tables so the wait should not have been that long.
Good food, good service and good location. Somewhat limited menu.
Nice atmosphere on the ouside courtcard patio. Heater available
OK so one caveat here. We shoed up at a really busy time and our food took a long long time to come. But (1) the server gave us a big discount to compensate for the delay; (2) everyone there was incredibly nice; (3) the ambiance was great, (4) the food when it came was phenomenal.
One of the best places we went to. Excellent value and great menu.
Great food and service. Cool little restaurant. Paring on the street was good, but we went during the week. Great dessert.
Incredible Tastes. Fabulous Service. We LOVE PK! A dining delight every time.
Food was delicious! Service fantastic! All around wonderful experience
Great food and superb service!! Great for brunch or anytime.
We enjoyed our dinner so much that we went to the San Marcos location the next day!
Scallops were perfectly cooked and service was outstanding. S’mores dessert was the perfect ending to a great meal.
Amazing service! The food and ambiance were great!
Went to Prep Kitchen twice this week! Shaun was our server and did an excellent job both times. The first time we had the free range chicken and caesar salad; the second night we had the salmon and beet salad. Both nights we shared the brussel sprout appetizer. . . a not to be missed treat. The second night Kyle was there; he was our server the first time I ate at Prep Kitchen and added that additional level of professionalism. Both Shaun and Kyle are highlights and interested in seeing that you have the best experience and seeing that you get your food hot and just what will satisfy you. The kitchen works hard and everything is delivered in timely! This is a not to be missed stop when in LaJolla!
The food was delicious and the service was great! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful day. My husband highly recommends the pancakes.
The staff were not very attentive to our table. We were never checked on except when our food was brought out and never offered a refill on water. The staff should be attentive regardless of how much you are spending (which I did spend a decent amount).
This was definitely a 'treat' for me as I don't go out to eat often. The ambiance of the restaurant reminds me of Paris! Small and quaint, great wine selection and freshly prepared food. This is a great intimate setting and I will definitely go back to treat my loved ones in the future.
Went here on Valentine's so the restaurant was busy but the service was still very good. Did was good also and I definitely recommend the bacon wrapped dates. The price is a bit high was the only negative.
Delightfully quiet place for weekend brunch! I loved the Avocado toast with Bacon!
Food was truly exceptional. Brussel sprouts are a must. Scallops delicious! Braised short ribs delicious and rich. Filet excellent. Service was a bit slow or relaxed (?). Would love to have had the cozy table for 4 indoors but that table was occupied. Chilly outdoors that evening even though partially enclosed. Quiet enough to converse freely. Much better for conversation than the Little Italy location. Will be back.
The staff was rude and uninterested in their work.
