Every bite was excellent!!! We ordered brussels, sea scallops, crisp tuna, miso salmon, brownie smore, but I am sure whatever you order will be fantastic! The server was friendly and service was quick.
Our server provided good customer experience. We had the steak filet. It was delicious.
Really wonderful food and service. I always enjoy eating here, if you are in the area, treat yourself.
We were so disappointed that prep kitchen has changed their menu completely. There are no original favorites on the menu that all of us go to prep kitchen to enjoy. The menu is boring non original Asian infusion and doesn’t pair well with the restaurant at all!!! We are sad to say this will not be a go to anymore:( the beet salad tasted like cigarettes.
Last evening of our vacation
half of our party did not get their food on time. one of our kids was served PERFECTLY RARE CHICKEN NUGGETS. The BLTA is very good, if they remember to make it for you. We will not be back.
The food was delicious, especially their appetizers. Service was very good and they were very accommodating to move us from one table to the next. I was unaware (my bad) that it was outdoor dining and I get cold very easily. Even though I had on a sweater and jacket, I asked to be moved close to a roll down window almost directly under a heating lamp (they have lots of them) and to roll down one of the outdoor patio plastic windows. They also gave me a throw which kept me comfortable during dinner. There were four of us for dinner and the food came out hot and delicious. The waiter was very good, checking on us occasionally. We spent quite a bit of time there and was next to the last people to leave. They did not make us feel like we had to leave which I am a big fan of, rather than start cleaning around you as a hint. I would recommend this place to anyone for any meal with the caveat that for dinner it is outdoor dining and in the San Diego winters (67 degrees) you might dress a bit more warmly if you are cold easily, yes I am a wimp with cold weather. We will be back and try lunch and dinner.
One of my favorites in La Jolla right now. Excellent small plates; creative; excellent service the night I was there--knowledgeable and enthusiastic without being intrusive; very good wine list.
It was fine. Waiters seemed a bit checked out occasionally but not bad. Just kinda mellow.
They try to stick you with a per- tax 3.95% service tax under the pretext of off setting the increase in minimum wage. So we can stop tipping the wait staff? No, you are expected to do that too. And since it is a pretax charge you tip the service charge. It’s greedy. It’s very greedy.
Amazing food with amazing service. The stark was extremely tender and I recommend the Passion Fruit Mammosa.
We went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was charming and romantic. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. I got the butternut squash and the scallops. Both were amazing. Definitely, recommend!
This place is really lovely - the seating is almost completely outdoors, but the heat lamps kept us warm. The style is very "hipster" with a drink menu in a programming manual and several specialty food items. The food is really delicious, in reasonable portions, and the ambiance is intimate.
1) They took all our favorites off the menu.......... fish tacos and crispy chix sandwich.
2) Shared Caesar salad was dry and chopped in a little bowl.........we asked for more dressing
3) Changed the pasta bolognese recipe and wasn't nearly as flavorful
4) Seared Hamachi ($25) just ok. Waitress "suggested" the steamed rice with it. Ok, but a $6 upcharge for a bowl of rice? Should have come with the fish.
We liked it better when it was affiliated with Whisknladle. This used to be one of our "go--to" places so we are sad.
Excellent service and extremely creative and delicious food!
Fantastic venue and food for a family get together. Staff was attentive and courteous. Our group came late but they said, “no problem”!
This is great place to take kids or grandkids. Service is quick and food very tasty.
The service was excellent. The presentation was beautiful and the food was delicious. I hated my meal to end. Definitely order the brussel sprouts appetizer. Best I've ever tasted!
First poor dining experience in seven years. Food below average. Not a good value. Understaffed.
Wonderful outdoor patio and service, but the food was just ok. Nothing special.
New menu not good. Used to be a bit of a value place but not anymore. Value menu at premium prices. Caesar salad very mediocre. Portions quite small. Not going back.
Service was terrible. Food was ok. I’ve eaten at the Little Italy and Del Mar locations. Can’t believe they are affiliated, the other locations were so much better.
All outdoor seating
Food was way too salty. Very disappointing dinner. Normally it is good at the prep kitchen.
Prep kitchen has recently changed ownership and it’s so sad to see something that was amazing turn into a poor attempt to make it different. Why change something that was already awesome? The moment we walked up to the hostess stand we could tell it had changed over but tried to remind open minded. Unfortunately everything from the service to the long wait for the food to the actual food itself was sub par. Hoping they make some changes over time to reflect the old prep kitchen but seems not likely.
Food was way over priced for what it was. The burger was 19 bucks and was made from a frozen patties
Waiter was great. More expensive than anticipated.
Very limited menu. It’s more of a take out place. Seating is all outside.
Small, limited menu. Hostess was very nice. Server was nice but never offered dessert so we left looking for a dessert place.
Another good night at prep kitchen. Restaurant a good job with all the food preparations. It is in a funky spot in La Jolla. Gets cool at night with mostly outside dining. They do have heaters and I recommend a sweater. Food service was good. On this night the waiter had some difficulty with our brought from home Vintage bottle of wine. Eventually we got it filter decanted and got the cork pieces out of the wine. The food was good, service was friendly and it was a pleasurable night all the way around.
Very charming place! Service staff was wonderful and gave us good recommendations. Great outdoor patio.
Food was great, service was on point, but parking was VERY difficult to find on a Friday night.
Well-prepared farm-to-table food, but the service could have been more efficient. I enjoyed my fresh caught, local halibut. Seared to perfection with a light sauce of vibrant peppers and olive oil mashed potatoes. Several of my dining partners chose the chilaquiles, which is unusual for dinner, but had great flavor. Our wine was delayed and our server took quite awhile to take our order, without any bread or beverages to distract us, it was quite noticeable. Suggest providing local baked bread with the water, so that staff has time to get to all of their tables.
Prep Kitchen was awesome. My wife and I were on vacation and I googled “farm to table” restaurants and it came up. We shared everything, which consisted of a burrata and heirloom tomato salad which was just perfect with a drizzle of very good balsamic vinegar, then another salad—spinach and roast beet with honey goat cheese, which was also note-perfect. Our entree was a seared steelhead trout that had perhaps the crispiest, most well-seasoned skin I’ve ever tasted. Kyle, our server, waxed rhapsodic over the piperade served with the fish, and it was pretty darn tasty. I can’t wait for their downtown LA outlet to open.
Pasta bolognese was outstanding and Ayla was a terrific server !
Loved our dinner at Prep Kitchen La Jolla! The bacon-wrapped dates are incredible!
Great brunch with friends. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
The food was amazing!!!! I had the braised beef. We got dessert just because our meals were so amazing that we had to see what the dessert tasted like. We were not disappointed
This is a really casual dining venue. Staff was cordial an accomm
This is a bit like a bistro--not an extensive menu, but everything is good. The fish tacos are outstanding!
