We love the “buffet” table of seasonal food. And the desserts are wonderful!

Disappointed in the soup

Halibut entree had too many potatoes

The value of Prelude is the proximity to McCaw Hall. The menu is always interesting to review. The plating of selection is often creative. However, they just as often miss the mark in terms of taste, portion size and food temperature. The many reviews with critical comments have not made any difference in the areas critiqued.

Would urge Prelude to go back to the drawing board on the avocado soup. There was no clue it was a cold soup nor that it would be sour - intentional or otherwise. Had the halibut been served hot, there may have been a more appealing taste.

No question we return for the convenience and a very accomodating staff of greeters and servers.

The halibut main was excellent. Nice glass pour selection. Perfect for before the ballet.

Very good food in McCaw Hall -- and very fast service. Nice to get there early , have a good meal, and not have to worry about traffic at the last minute.

Promptly seated as soon as they opened. Server came quickly, poured our water, and reviewed the Harvest Table option. we had already decided on that so he brought our plates, bread, and drinks. Good food and service!

We were give poor menu choices OR a buffet that had been severely picked over & not replenished. We had made a reservation but were placed in a very tiny back booth- I only weigh 105 & I had to squeeze in AFTER pulling out the table. The restaurant was only half full. Prices too high for such a poor & sloppy meal.

My friend and I arrived with reservations and were seated promptly. I was expecting a quick average meal and so I told her that this might be a dining adventure. We were both very pleasantly surprised by the excellence of the meal and the outstanding service before attending a performance. The avocado soup was smooth and quite delicious. I ordered the present chicken offering, expecting it to be spicy (don't do spice), but it was quite wonderful... great flavors along with the rice and carrots. I would definitely order this again. Next time we are going to be more eager to come here and would totally recommend it as a dining venue before any performance. The dining experience was excellent and 6:00 reservations are just about perfect for an 8:00 performance.

This is a favorite spot for dining before events held at McCaw Hall in Seattle. Having a very good restaurant located right inside the venue makes it particularly convenient. I was only slightly disappointed by the limited menu, but the food and service were very good. Parking is conveniently available in a garage across the street which is connected to the hall via a covered skybridge. We will return here for dinner again before the next Seattle Men's Chorus concert in June.

I went for the buffet prior to the 2pm performance of Paw Patrol LIVE! with my 5 year old son. The buffet was cute, and had a "Paw Patrol" theme to it. The food choices (pb&j, potato chips, mac and cheese, hamburger sliders, etc.) were kid friendly. The food was good, but luke warm to cold. Also, drinks were extra (expected) but refills on soda were not included, so $8 for two glasses of diet coke, which was mostly ice, was disappointing. Over all, I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for ease of use before a McCaw Hall performance. Arrive early, get good parking, have a decent meal, and be there in plenty of time for the curtain. Convenient would be the best word to describe this restaurant.

A disappointing experience. We will not be back. The only positive I can add is the server was friendly, professional and seemed to enjoy his job. The lack of cleanliness and the buffet they tried to pass off, were laughable.

Made reservations for our party of 11 at 5:30pm with theatre curtain @ 7:30pm and this was a great place to get tasty food just before show time! We were seated promptly; James our server was excellent with food & wine info and took care of our large party in a timely manner with a smile. Everything we ordered was delicious -- kudos to the short ribs with the taro mash (honorable mention to the Mandarin Orange Tart)!

Any downside is made up for by the convenience of parking once at the venue garage, beating the crowd for that and getting a spot with a quick exit. The food was ok. My entree could have been warmer.

We had dinner here prior to a show at McCaw hall. We dined early and got a nice window seat and very prompt service. Our meal was served up with in 15 minutes after ordering. We both had the chicken, and it was tender, seasoned with a sauce that was tasty, but too hot for me, I wish I would have been forewarned and substituted the sauce. The small serving of chicken was served with some cooked greens. My husband was still so hungry, he also purchased the harvest platter which is like an appetizer plate with meats, cheeses and crackers. It costs an additional $15 if you purchase it with an entre. The desert was delightful, I had the almond cookies and ice cream. Very tasty. The staff was polite and efficient throughout our experience.

Peelude’s attempt to do Asian food when Shen Yu was in town was a big miss. Past dinners there had steak and seafood type options that were delicious. They should stick to the basics.

We had a lovely meal & service at Prelude before a show. The Cioppino was delicious. Very fresh tasting. Husband had eh "Harvest Table" which is a buffet style serve yourself comprised cheeses, meats, salads, etc. He enjoyed it and thought the selections was quite varied. Would definitely eat here again before a show at McCaw Hall.

We enjoyed great food and service at this open to the atrium restaurant at McCaw Hall. The entry portions are not large, you may want to get a salad with your meal. Wine selection is a bit price and is quite good. Service was fast and attentive. Great for a dinner before a theater program. We had a reservation at 6:15 which worked fine for a 7:30 show time. We'll be back to try some other items on the menu.

A perfect place to dine before a show at McCaw Hall. So nice to eliminate the hassle of finding a restaurant in the area, parking and then reparking, rushing through a meal to get to the performance on time, etc.!
Very friendly staff and great food!

We chose Prelude for the convenience. Located in the lobby of McCaw Hall, it's a great option if you are going to see a performance, which we were. Everything about this restaurant is good, not great. It is a very simple menu with only 3 salad options, I think 5 entrée options & 3 or 4 dessert options - and that's it (no appetizers). The food was good, not great and pricing is a bit pricey, but what I would expect for this type of restaurant. We would probably not go here again and opt for a restaurant within walking distance if coming for a show.

The chef joined us at our table to answer questions about the ingredients and preparation of the chicken breast entrée. He was most informative and open to conversation. And, he was brought to us courtesy of our server. All-in-all, the experience was delightful.

We always enjoy the "harvest" table. sunday it felt a little sparse. It would be nice if the meats were labeled. The desserts (which are separate) were delicious (I had the apple). We thought our waitstaff was a little overwhelmed and it seemed to take a long time to get my delicious apple, which did not need to be heated....but we'll be back. its our treat when we go to the ballet!

what food we got was delicious, but the prices are appalling for the amount of food you get. Obviously that's why I don't routinely dine at "high end" restaurants.

The hostess was rude, and when we asked for a different table, we were put right beside the noisy kitchen and machines.
My appetizer, grilled halloumi and beets, was dreadful, but the main meal was acceptable.
Our waitress was polite and courteous, but those who heard us complaining, showed their disdain and were quite obnoxious about it.
However, the assistant manager, was more than apologetic, and gave us complimentary dinner for two, which shows at least she acted with professionalism.
It was a shame that the evening started out that way, as it was an evening at the ballet.

My husband and I dine here before going to the Opera. The food last year and this year has consistently declined. The selections are fewer but most importantly, the quality of the food is mediocre at best. This is disappointing because it’s a convenient place and the turn around is good. The prices, however, continue to be high and the quality low.

We have been patrons here for many years as opera patrons. The place has changed this year. The cheese plate has morphed into a "Harvest Table", with a higher price, but more options, most of which did not appeal to me. The entre of beef was tasteless, the kale salad, simply a small plate full of kale, also a tasteless dressing, without anything to break up the kale like nuts or cheese. The desserts we choose, an apple tartine and a sorbet, were sour, and had no texture. The seat I was offered, a small bench like thing right behind the harvest table, kept tiping forward. It was not held in place on the floor. The convenience of the p[lace for opera is a draw, but the food deterioration may cause us to look elsewhere.

This is a convenient choice if you are attending the opera or ballet at McGaw Hall. It lets you find event parking easily and they are geared to quick pre performance service. To accomodate this, the menu is limited, but always includes a vegetarian option, and varies from event to event. If you choose, it is possible to postpone dessert until intermission.

Our fish entrée, which we were looking forward to, was overcooked, tasteless, and dry. We were greatly disappointed because we like fish. The dessert was good. Most of the entrees are likewise disappointing.

There should be at least one standard entrée that my teenage granddaughters can eat, like a hamburger.

If it has been a while since you last visited you should give it another go as the menu has been upgraded and is now much more interesting. The food is great and so is the service. I don't know if they are open on non-opera nights as that is the only times we have been there. If they are open they should advertise that fact as it is worth a shot.

I ate at Prelude before the opera. The food was delicious. I ordered the beef roast, mashed potatoes and carrots. I asked if I could substitute the carrots and she gave me turnip greens instead. The servings were so huge that I could not finish my meal, but the food was great! Because it was a special occasion, I did not feel that the price was too out of range

This was our first visit to Prelude. We dined here before the Anderson Cooper presentation. The food was very good, my only issue was that the plates should have been warmed, my chicken was not as hot as it should have been . Our waitress, Senait, was excellent! She was efficient without rushing us. We will be back.
