food excellent except for the bread pudding that was bland.
Perfect! You can be casually dressed and enjoy great quality amazing food!
Delicious food and amazing service. They went above and beyond when we celebrated a birthday there.
Excellent server, good food, live music.
The menu has great selections from local to favorite cuisine…
Fantastic food. All staff was cordial and very accommodating. We love Prejean's!!!
The food was fantastic. The ambiance is welcoming and even when they are packed the food is still spectacular. We had a great meal. And will enjoy the leftovers tonight!
Over all it was very good. I had the gumbo and I found it a little too thick for my taste but I know everyone's gumbo is different. I would have preferred a little more chicken and a less less andouille. I would also suggest a combination appetizer plate for a table to share. Maybe also offering bread or hush puppies before your meal would also be nice. We will visit again hopefully soon.
The food was absolutely wonderful. We came to visit a family member and wanted authentic Cajun cuisine. Prejean’s did not disappoint. The gumbo was phenomenal as well as the shrimp and grits.
Appetizers were excellent! Had the chard broiled oysters supreme, and truly enjoyed them. My husband had the duck gumbo, and had the chicken gumbo. Entrees were just ok. Preferred the appetizers.
Great food!! Much improved since the new owners took over.
This is my Wife and I’s second time eating here in a few weeks, this time we brought some friends. The waiter remembered us and remembered the drinks my wife ordered, that was a plus. The service was fast, the food was hot, and very well cooked. Everyone enjoyed the drinks and food. This will not be our last time eating here. I can tell it’s under new ownership. Great place to eat and spend time in the Acadiana area with friends and family.
We had reservations but arrived a few minutes early and our waitress wasn’t there but they accommodated us. They sat us and got our drinks until our waitress arrived! Definitely recommended. The Eggplant Pirogue was absolutely amazing!! Everything was great.
Our experience was a 3.5 star experience. I was really hoping that the reopened prejeans had improved the good, and maybe had taken the food quality back to days long gone.
We had a combination of chargrilled oysters, chicken cracklings and gumbo. The cracklings weren’t described properly on the menu. There’s no indication they’re breaded, yet they were. It only states they’re seasoned. So they’re like small pieces of KFC extra crispy. Not bad, but they aren’t the simple fried cracklings I longed for. On to the oysters. There are so many places to get charbroiled oysters nowadays, and some are outstanding. Prejeans we’re mediocre at best. They were also very salty and spicy, although they weren’t described that way. I suppose the best part of the meal was the duck and tasso gumbo. The roux was rich, the duck meat had been cooked down until it was falling apart - might be a plus or a minus depending. There was t quite enough broth, yet the ratio of meat was quite generous.
All in all, I doubt we’ll return. Too many wonderful places to eat in our area. There need to be tweaks here to bring it back to, or to surpass its’ glory days.
My husband and I went with another couple for dinner. We shared appetizers to try several things. We had the gator bites with the Thai Pepper Jelly, seafood stuffed mushrooms, Nacheauxs, Blackened Shrimp Flatbread and Fried Green tomatoes. All were very well seasoned. I think our favorite were the mushrooms. We also got the hush puppies and my husband got a cup of the duck gumbo. He said it was quite tasty and it looked like a really rich roux. They had a lady playing guitar and singing. It was a lively atmosphere. Would recommend
We got an order of raw oysters that looked like they had been shucked several hours before they were served. Should have sent them back. Food was ok but not worth the price. Hush puppies were burnt. Can't recommend the place.
Great service and food! Like menu variety. Pleasant staff.
I was very upset with my bill because I was charged for an adult fried fish dinner when we ordered a childrens fish dinner for my 4 year old granddaughter at a difference of $13.00 that was not noticed until we got home and checked the bill.
Great food again. The new Prejean’s is again a great restaurant.
Noise level was high, because the band was playing, making it a little hard to hold a conversation but overall a great dining experience
One of our favorite places to eat, food and service is excellent
Very great service. Joseph was amazing! Good was excellent!
One of our guests food order was not prepared along with the other guest. Was not provided until everyone was finished eating. When it was brought to them it was not what they had ordered so it was refused and the guest was so upset that they refused to let them prepare the correct order knowing how long it would have taken to cook again. The guest stated that they were not hungry anymore but I think they were just being nice. This was our anniversary celebration with a party of nine which did not go well. Everyone else at the table felt bad for the guest and offered them some of everyone’s food but they declined. I found it odd that no one in ownership or management approached our table to offer any assistance nor explanation as to what happened but left it up to our waiter to handle the error as they just left him out to dry. He was embarrassed I’m sure but I don’t feel it was his fault as he does not work in the kitchen nor make sure each meal that is ordered is prepared. I learned a lesson tonight about Prejeans and I’m sure the others at our event did also.
What a great Cajun Place!
Great ambiance and a variety of delicious Cajun dishes!
Server needed some help when tables were pulling him. Kitchen took awhile to execute order. Food came out at separate times and missing items .
Everyone was very friendly and awesome food. It is expensive but worth it!
The chargrilled oysters were very good.
Good service, good food. It’s great this landmark is under such good management.
We eat often, just a little high priced. Glad they added to the menu. Will go back
The food was tasty and hot. The order came to the table fast. We will return.
If you want so.e of Acadiana's finest food Prejeans is unbelievable
After a long absence, we decided to try it again since under new management and we were surprised at how good the food was. We will be back.
Great food. Service is top notch and the atmosphere is very pleasing.
I enjoyed everything about it, did and service. It was really nice.
Great food and staff
Food was good, but a little pricey. Stuffed mushrooms app were excellent, but the fried pickels were not good at all- Had the eggplant dish was very good, but shrimp in dish not deveined!! ( yuck)
All in all was enjoyable but a little tweaking would go far.
Nice being able to reserve table and was ready when we
Great Food, great staff, great atmosphere.
If you are looking for good cajun food and ambiance this is for you.
It’s located on I49 no need to search back roads and you don’t need to learn to speak Cajun.
I honestly think Préjean's is (1) the best restaurant I've ever been to in the Lafayette area and (2) the best Cajun restaurant anywhere. As the moonshiners of yore used to say, this is the "real corn"! I can't wait to go back and work my way through the entire menu: both gumbos I tried were amazing--and I'm grateful for the smaller portion option--but I can't believe I haven't tried their crawfish étoufée or shrimp and grits yet!!!
Reserved a table for 8 last night to celebrate my mother’s 82nd birthday. My husband and I paid for all. $450 with tip! Good little waiter! Thank God for the good bread pudding at the end of the meal because the food was surely nothing to write home about! Only 2 of the people were actually satisfied. My husband ordered the ribeye ( pricey) with crawfish étouffée on top. He said steak was so fatty! Another thing was that the food came in separate intervals so half were almost finished eating when others were just starting. Also, we thought about it on the way home that my husband never received his second side. (Mac n cheese). I’m not just a complainer, as I am one to write when I’m satisfied as well, but really disappointed that that kind of money was spent on something so dissatisfying. Never mind the fact that it was so hard to visit as we had to scream over the loud music. I know some enjoy it, so not a big deal, but if we had known! Sorry, but will be our last visit.
