Precita Park Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We love Precita Park Cafe! Unpretentious, wholesome fresh meals with craft beers and higher end California wines.
Pasta always tastes super fresh. Classic Italian
Kids personal pizzas are popular with our kids
Chicken with lemon sauce also delicious
Local Brew black lager (Yes!)
Servers are friendly
Service can be spotty when busy
Walking in servers can be a little too casual as it can be confusing when walking through the door
Overall, a casual go to inviting place with great food and affordable for San Francisco
I live very near the Precita Park Cafe, so it's an easy solution for last minute get-togethers with neighborhood friends or a quick bite, good glass of wine on the way home from a long walk. All their pasta and pizza is homemade and good. They offer small healthy items like locally sourced wilted seasonal greens and small interesting salads. Their specials are usually very good, fresh, healthy and creative. It's one large room, very echo-ish and can be full of neighborhood families and kids, which are quite welcome. Outdoor seating overlooking the park is lovely on a nice evening.
This cafe was not a decent food experience. To begin the service was totally inadequate. Our order was delivered as incorrect. We ordered risotto but they brought us gnochi? We had to ask twice to have our water glasses refilled. They sat the only other diners that came into the place at a table right next to us while there was an empty restaurant full of empty tables.
My wife and I live just up the hill and have been going to PPC since it opened. We usually just walk in and have a good experience; quality wholesome food with quick and friendly service. This day we made a reservation because my mom was with us and wanted to be safe with the bigger party. It started off great with the waiter being helpful. We were completely surrounded by tables with screaming kids, but I know this is a family place and don't hold that against the restaurant. We then proceeded to wait 50 minutes for our food. The waiter did check in on us a few times and apologize. They were as courteous as the could have been. But this is a neighborhood cafe for a nice-casual meal. If the kitchen is that backed up, we should have been warned ahead. We were all very hungry and would have made a different plan..weren't looking for a long dinner. I really expected something to be comped on our bill for the crazy long wait. Maybe our burrata or one of the beers comped would have been a pretty standard gesture in this situation at most restaurants (I made a living as a server for several years so I know from professional experience). But instead of something comped .... we actually had a drink we never ordered charged to us; kind of a kick in the gut at that point. Staff need some training on how to handle busy times.
Very cold! And service was incredibly slow.
Food ok - cherry tomatoes were on everything.
Tomato/cucumber/mozzerella salad - mozzerella tasted like store bought and/or frozen cheese - hard and tasteless. I assumed it would be fresh.
Prosciutto pizza was good.
The night we went (with a reservation) they had only two servers and were very busy so the service was a bit slow but they kept checking with us and we were fine with it. The noise level is high... hard to hear the conversations. Everyone in the place is having fun. Great limited menu. Yum. Great place for breakfast, too.
Looking for good creative dinner that would work for an omnivore, a gluten free eater and a vegetarian and not be too expensive I just happened across Precita Park Cafe. I nearly ruled it out, since its sister cafes didn't have a dinner, and the decor is that of a coffee place with some food. Wow - I was really amazed. Delicious dinner, interesting choices, very fair prices. The wait staff was warm and authentic. You won't go here for the atmosphere - because it really is designed to look like a coffee cafe - but you'll be surprised and delighted by the high quality food with fresh ingredients.
We have eaten at Precita Park since it opened. It had been once a week in the beginning.
Once chefs changed the food started to become a bit precious. Our weekly visits became monthly and then every 3 to 4 months. Last week we had dinner on a Saturday night. The noise from the kids mixed with the brass forward jazz to make the noise level un comfortable.
We ordered a Margarita Pizza with light cheese. When it arrived it had no sauce. It did have light cheese but no sauce. We didn't have time to wait for another so we asked for it to be boxed up ( we always find someone hungry who is happy to have the gift of food.) We paid and asked for the take but it had been tossed out. I do not think we will be back. This is another disappointing
meal in a place we used to love.
My husband wanted pizza and they had pizza and other items. It was close to where we were staying and we were tired. They didn't have a pizza my husband wanted - so they made him one!! IT WAS FANTASTIC!! The cooks were going to make it for their dinner. They need to put it on the menu.
I had the roasted chicken. It was the best chicken I have had in a very long time. So juicy and flavorful!!
I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Service was great!!
It is on a corner in a neighborhood with a small park across the street.
WHAT A FIND!!
We will eat here again when we are in town.
Great find. Nice location with exceptional food. Unfortunately, too many parents with screaming children. What is wrong with the people who can't teach their children how to act in public. If you raise them without rules, they act like savages. Get a clue and pay attention. You are ruining everyone's experience. What will you do with these animals when they get older?
When I first walked in, I thought it would be a perfectly fine but generic neighborhood restaurant. I was wrong. It is something special. The food was excellently prepared from local produce. It was delicious and very well done. I'll definitely come back. A great neighborhood gem that is worth the trip.
I was really pumped to find this place. I've lived around the corner for like 2 years and never even realized this was here. I'll be back often. *Good* vegetables, well prepared, and an excellent beer list, in a low-key place that was not super busy. I hope the latter changes so it'll be around for a long time, but in the meantime I'll revel in the quiet atmosphere because I'm selfish like that. Woo!
The trout with succotash was a particular win.
What a gem! Tucked away in Precita on a quiet residential street (with a decent amount of street parking!) it looks like any other neighborhood spot. I was super impressed with the menu: all local and sustainable, with many items made in-house (get the burrata). From heavier fare to light and delicate, there is something for everyone here. I will 100% be back! Note - also very veg friendly.
Great food—fresh, local ingredients—deliciously prepared home-style cooking. Swell service—super friendly and accommodating. Huge portions—almost too big, but having that half burger for lunch the next day was fun. Clearly beloved by the community, and now, by me too.
The service and food was excellent and because of that I would return. However, the ambiance at night left a lot to be desired. It is a cavernous, soulless place with high ceilings and what appears to be fluorescent lights behind a scrim. The candles on the tables helped but I really felt like I was in a bus terminal.
Neighborhood gem with all around comfort. Personable friendly service, excellent wine list for a neighborhood place, excellent craft beer list as well.
Buratta and fried fish with very good. Filet mignon and Salmon where cooked perfectly and excellent especially for the price. Most places would probably charge around $10 more per dish.
This place never fails. It is easy, it is comforting and the food is pretty pretty 99% of the time.
I've had better food here in the past. A few of the dishes tasted as though someone dropped a salt-shaker into the food - seriously over-salted. My roast chicken, which in the past has been excellent, was a little overdone and dry, and several side dishes and the risotto were oversalted.
