I ordered the crab cakes and my date ordered the Thai Fried Chicken. The crab cakes were lukewarm and the french fries were cold on both platters. The sangria was warm and not chilled. This was at 12:45 p.m. and it appeared that they just opened because the place was empty ,still no excuse for food that was not hot enough to enjoy.
This used to be a nice place with a big beautiful dining room that had floor to ceiling glass windows. The dining room is now reduced to a tiny, windowless room in the back of the band we were literally the only people there. Cocktails were good , food was poor, the whole place smelled like a wet mop. And don't order straight liquor - you will get one of the tiniest pours in Manhattan.
Not what I expected, thought its was a lounge environment since it does state that on the website, took my friends there in hope of having a good eat then do a little danceing since we're not big on the club scene , but on a Saturday night, when we walked in I thought it was closed.. Food was good
Absolutely loved this spot. the waiter and hostess were extremely friendly.
Only critique that I have is that they should make it aware that the kitchen opens at 1pm. I had my reservation for 12pm, was hungry when I got in but had to wait for the kitchen to prep.
So this is my husbands and I go to place when we need somewhere for a double date or just date night for us. We haven't been there in a while and everything has changed. We actually had our engagement party here and if I seen it in its new form that would not have happened. Food is still the best part the service is still a bit off
After Dinner we were asked to leave the club leaving our drink as they had to clean the club for other event. The Staff was rude to my friend and we had dinner not that we were there for nothing. WE vacated the table as there was a line for table but they didn't respect it.
I'll spoke to the manager and he was helpless in front of the event people. When we had called earlier they mentioned if you are in the restaurant the entry would be free for the event but they charged us for the event.
Bunch of Rude people and Liars. Never go there if you are celeberating anything special, not worth it.
I was extremely disappointed that nowhere did it say the place was under construction and that the ambiance completely changed. I was there last year and it was crowded with a big dj and dance floor and there was no dance floor. The place was barely filled and the waiter was terrible. I felt embarrassed to take my friends there as I had made the place out to be a fun time meanwhile it was not even close to that.
Pranna's new look is really quite a stark departure from the last one, but I like it. The older one was really open, with the dining room to your right past and behind the bar and the second level also visible as well. Now there's no second level anymore from what I saw, and the dining room has been shrunk and moved to the left hand side behind the bar. The food is still pretty good and they still have the same menu as before. The waiters are really attentive and courteous, always present when you need one. I would recommend Pranna for a group dinner or brunch or an afterwork bar time.
Pranna was pretty accommodating considering my party was 40 minutes late - and now I realize why. I came to Pranna over a year ago and it was amazing: food, music, unlimited mimosas, etc. They've changed a lot since then for starters no unlimited mimosas. Additionally the mimosa we did have was made with flat champagne :( Also got a martini that wasn't any good either (more melon juice than anything). Our waitress decided to suggest dishes on the menu she thought were healthier lol it was kinda weird. The place was VERY empty for a 1:30 - 3:30 brunch/day party spot in Manhattan and now I know why. Last time I'll be dining at Pranna.
We loved our experience at Pranna but had a horrible encounter with the hostess. She was in a bad mood and looked like she hated her job. We asked her if we could change tables and she told us no (without checking to see if any others were open - without even moving). We were also unaware that the place is being renovated so it is not how it looks on the website currently (packed out with a DJ). It is a nice small place that has great food. A great place for conversation and brunch.
...so I could give this place 4 thumbs down.
Without a doubt my worst dining experience in NYC. I booked this place because I heard it was upbeat and fun with good food and drinks. It was the opposite in every sense.
The bouncer out front was not friendly, the place was dead quiet despite marketing itself as uptempo, servers and staff were unfriendly and inattentive, the drinks and food were entirely overpriced ($20 for three broken sunny side up eggs and some potatoes with greens). And worst of all they didn't serve Bloody Mary's.
When I say "never again," I really mean I'll never go anywhere near this place again.
Came here forcmy birthday and the music was great and it was awesome. Only thing was tgat everything was spicy!!! Fries, even a salad was spicy its like someone git carried away with peper without informing ppl!!! Portions where good though! And great overall time!!!
Pranna used to offer their brunch entrees and unlimited brunch drinks for under $40, but ever since their problem with an unruley guest, they stopped the unlimited - which is a shame. They now make you have drink tickets and charge you $45 . Still fun, but not nearly as fun as it used to be.
Was offended after the DJ stated the manger did not want him to play urban music because they don't want to attract a certain type of crowd. My overall experience was good until that statement was made. I'm all for different genres of music, but that statement was uncalled for.
Came here for my birthday brunch. After reading some really bad reviews, I was very nervous about how my party would turn out. I am so happy to say it all turned out great. Things ran smoothly, people were fed with very good food, drank to their delight, and partied the day away. Thanks Pranna, you have great marks in my book!
this is a daytime lounge that serves brunch. the drinks are very weak so def order a bottle of champagne to top everything off, but this is a fun place to gather friends, dance, and get silly on a random weekend. food actually isn't bad, but just be aware that a lot of ppl have birthdays and bachlorette parties here.
my experience at pranna was pretty good. I actually planned a brunch there and the person who helped us was really nice and helpful (Alex) he made sure everyone was happy and everything was ok. dj was pretty good as well the had belly dancers which was pretty cool. would I recommend ppl to go there for a brunch absolutely. One of the girls in out group wants to throw her bday party next mth . looking forward to goin again =)
Overall, the restaurant was nice. I've been here at night to party but this was my first time for brunch. The food was wonderful and the drinks tasted good. The only thing was the cups were plastic party cups, which looked very tacky. But the service was good. The noise level was very loud, I guess that's why they limit you to five drinks, because people can get a little out of control. It was nice to celebrate my 30th there and for the price it was a lot of tasty food and yummy drinks!
