Praline Bakery & Bistro
In the Bistro upstairs, you can dine on all times favorites or on chef's creations like Lamb Stew, Steak Frites, Chicken Pot Pie, Crab Cakes and freshly made sweet and savory crepes.
Excellent food!
The food was mediocre and the service was not great.
The food is always good, the menu offers an interesting variety of options. the staff is friendly and accommodating, the patio in the Spring, Summer and Fall is very pleasant. A sure bet for lunch!
How long will Praline fly under the radar? The food is wonderful, you can hear yourself talk, and there is ample free parking. This time we shared a butternut squash salad (they are enormous) and enjoyed trout almondine and scallops on a mushroom risotto. Cocktails are tasty and the wine list is varied with unusually helpful notes. The dining tables are located upstairs surrounding an atrium with lots of open space, keeping noise down. Only a few minor flaws and a slow start marred the otherwise fine service. We were curious about the brunch menu, and after seeing it, decided we will not only have to come for brunch, we'll have to come more than once.
The experience was awful. It was great last time I went a couple of months ago. The server was terrible. I wanted to swap out the tuna with salmon for the salad Nicoise and this time I was told I could not make that substitution unless I added the price of the salmon. I got the frisée lardon and egg salad. Awful - almost iniedible. Won’t be going back.
This was a most pleasant experience for 4 of us to celebrate my mothers' birthday. Food, drinks and ambiance were excellent for an afternoon brunch, and I appreciated that both brunch and lunch options were on the menu.
The only slightly "off note" was when we were lingering and asked to leave as a party was setting up for a baby shower. It was obvious something was happening, so we were about to leave--it would have been more diplomatic to ask us to move to a downstairs table or somewhere else instead. We might have had another coffee!
Pralines was wonderful. It’s the first time all of us have had dinner there. I would recommend it to all of my friends. It was a first class five star restaurant! I have had lunch at pralines or taken lunch and desserts to go. They have always been delicious!
We went back to Praline for New Year's Eve dinner and it could not have been better. The food was fabulous. The Beef Wellington was perfectly prepared. The meat tender. The green beans and mashed potatoes flavorful. The Arctic Char was delicious and the rack of lamb, perfection.
Excellent, as always.
Lovely place. Everyone enjoyed their meal
Since the space is so small, the guests at different tables can join in conversations with those at other tables. That might be ok to some, but definitely made a more business focused lunch awkward. No elevators so an older guest asked but was told he had to take the stairs. Definitely a no go for future lunches.
Great, as always.
Great food, including daily specials of duck confit, scallops, and desserts (creme brulee and cookie sampler). Expensive, but ... .
Very tasty, great service!
The food was great. We had a nice table upstairs. Our waiter was a friendly guy.
The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! It is a cute bistro with a great staff.
Waiter seemed overworked and kept forgetting items we had ordered. Grilled chicken sandwich was super ordinary and fries not as good as usual. Dessert crepes do not disappoint.
Great as always
I have read about Praline for years, noticing the consistently enthusiastic reviews. Now I am kicking myself for waiting so long to go there since I live so close. I met a new friend for lunch, and had the omelet of the day. The food was special, the service was classy, and the dining room upstairs from the bakery was a perfect context. I will be back as soon as I can.
Praline is a lovely spot for lunch. The food in the restaurant and the baked goods are quite tasty.
Thanks for the pleasant surroundings and providing a space that enables people to easily converse without shouting.
Hmmm . . . from my most recent lunch, I’d say there’s room for improvement.
The food at Praline is consistently good and the baked goods are fantastic. I am sorry they are only open three nights a week for dinner. I appreciate the makeover the dining room, but I am afraid that it missed the mark. The nicest ambiance has always been the terrace and the bakery,
The waitress seemed a bit new, perhaps, - she didn’t seem to understand why I told her on arrival that I had a reservation - but the food was excellent. And we were in a wonderfully quiet spot where we could talk - which is one of the things we always love about Praline..
Great, as always.
My first visit. Food and service were excellent. Lots of choices for each course and they are reasonably priced for similar quality elsewhere. I will go back.
Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and not too noisy! A wonderful place.
we arrived a few minutes late due to the person giving instructions over the phone failed to tell me the correct floor to exit the elevator. We were seated, fifteen minutes later and after a table seated 10 minutes after us was served the waitress noticed us sitting, waiting. We ordered drinks and meals - well tried. We had a couple from out of town for dinner.. He wanted crab caked - no, I'm sorry, we are out. We are out of swordfish, dolphin and some other fish. The gentleman and I settled on chicken pot pie the ladies ordered salad, Ten minutes later the waitress came back apologizing for not having arugula for the salad. She tried to excuse the lack of supplies to a "large party this afternoon," I attribute it to poorly trained cook, the cook is responsible for ordering supplies for the kitchen but the wait staff takes the guff for the cook being concomitant. Susan called on Saturday to apologize, too little, too late. We have been going there for a number of years, this is the first time this has happened but will be the last time we go there. The couple we took there was less than impressed with the restaurant and our choice, Thanks!
Enjoyed our lunch—a little noisy for this business occasion,
Lunch/Brunch: Always a pleasure to dine there. Staff is extremely courteous and attentive and food choices are varied and tasty.
Customer service is extremely poor at the bistro section. The were out of croissants so told us we could go downstairs to the bakery to pick out another pastry - we picked a tart that was listed as ~$3 and brought it back upstairs ourself to the bistro. When the final bill came we were charged $7 for the tart - nobody told us of the 100% upcharge to serve our own food. Even the waitress said she did not know of the price difference, however the manager just laughed and said that's the price we need to pay. We would have definitely come back to this restaurant otherwise, but not after this poor customer service experience.
One of my favorites in the neighborhood. They treat me very well there. Love to go after church.
Consistently very good in all phases: service, food quality and quantity, ambiance & value.
Praline is one of our favorite restaurants. It is especially enjoyable when the outside patio is available for dining, as at present.
We are sorry to learn, though, that starting September 1 dinner service will only be available on Friday and Saturday evening. We can understand that this is for budgetary reasons, but it is sill a great shame as Praline is an excellent place for dining during the week.
My friend and I so enjoyed dining on Praline’s lovely patio on an unusually 75 degrees and low humidity August evening. And the food and service didn’t disappoint, as usual. We’re regulars at this restaurant anyway. Loved the smoked salmon appetizer, the lamb chops were cooked nicely to order, and the walnut D’Acquoise (sp?) cake was moist, fresh, and not too sweet. Yum!!
Excellent as always!
Go here! We felt like we were in Europe! Everything was amazing!
There’s a reason why I am a regular at Praline. The food is consistently good as the service. And it’s not a loud restaurant. My friends and I can actually hear each other when we’re dining at Praline, unlike at a lot of other restaurants. Definitely a neighborhood gem!
Excellent as always
Our first visit but we will be back. Delicious gazpacho followed by branzino & roast vegetables. Pacing was good & food very tasty. The a-c wasn’t working well so it was rather stuffy.
