Praline Bakery & Bistro
In the Bistro upstairs, you can dine on all times favorites or on chef's creations like Lamb Stew, Steak Frites, Chicken Pot Pie, Crab Cakes and freshly made sweet and savory crepes.
Great, as always.
My first visit. Food and service were excellent. Lots of choices for each course and they are reasonably priced for similar quality elsewhere. I will go back.
Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and not too noisy! A wonderful place.
we arrived a few minutes late due to the person giving instructions over the phone failed to tell me the correct floor to exit the elevator. We were seated, fifteen minutes later and after a table seated 10 minutes after us was served the waitress noticed us sitting, waiting. We ordered drinks and meals - well tried. We had a couple from out of town for dinner.. He wanted crab caked - no, I'm sorry, we are out. We are out of swordfish, dolphin and some other fish. The gentleman and I settled on chicken pot pie the ladies ordered salad, Ten minutes later the waitress came back apologizing for not having arugula for the salad. She tried to excuse the lack of supplies to a "large party this afternoon," I attribute it to poorly trained cook, the cook is responsible for ordering supplies for the kitchen but the wait staff takes the guff for the cook being concomitant. Susan called on Saturday to apologize, too little, too late. We have been going there for a number of years, this is the first time this has happened but will be the last time we go there. The couple we took there was less than impressed with the restaurant and our choice, Thanks!
Enjoyed our lunch—a little noisy for this business occasion,
Lunch/Brunch: Always a pleasure to dine there. Staff is extremely courteous and attentive and food choices are varied and tasty.
Customer service is extremely poor at the bistro section. The were out of croissants so told us we could go downstairs to the bakery to pick out another pastry - we picked a tart that was listed as ~$3 and brought it back upstairs ourself to the bistro. When the final bill came we were charged $7 for the tart - nobody told us of the 100% upcharge to serve our own food. Even the waitress said she did not know of the price difference, however the manager just laughed and said that's the price we need to pay. We would have definitely come back to this restaurant otherwise, but not after this poor customer service experience.
One of my favorites in the neighborhood. They treat me very well there. Love to go after church.
Consistently very good in all phases: service, food quality and quantity, ambiance & value.
Praline is one of our favorite restaurants. It is especially enjoyable when the outside patio is available for dining, as at present.
We are sorry to learn, though, that starting September 1 dinner service will only be available on Friday and Saturday evening. We can understand that this is for budgetary reasons, but it is sill a great shame as Praline is an excellent place for dining during the week.
My friend and I so enjoyed dining on Praline’s lovely patio on an unusually 75 degrees and low humidity August evening. And the food and service didn’t disappoint, as usual. We’re regulars at this restaurant anyway. Loved the smoked salmon appetizer, the lamb chops were cooked nicely to order, and the walnut D’Acquoise (sp?) cake was moist, fresh, and not too sweet. Yum!!
Excellent as always!
Go here! We felt like we were in Europe! Everything was amazing!
There’s a reason why I am a regular at Praline. The food is consistently good as the service. And it’s not a loud restaurant. My friends and I can actually hear each other when we’re dining at Praline, unlike at a lot of other restaurants. Definitely a neighborhood gem!
Excellent as always
Our first visit but we will be back. Delicious gazpacho followed by branzino & roast vegetables. Pacing was good & food very tasty. The a-c wasn’t working well so it was rather stuffy.
Excellent, as always
Some years ago, Praline was our "go to" restaurant. We'd eat there several times a month and often a few times a week. We went back the other night after a long hiatus. To my delight and surprise and delight, one of the long-time wait staff welcomed me warmly. The food was reliably satisfying — no complaints there — but the service left something to be desired. No only could our waitress not explain some of the terms on the menu, she also failed to check me off on OpenTable in spite of my having asked her to check. Because of this, I had to spend too much time contacting OpenTable to rid myself of a "no show" for the evening.
Praline is still the restaurant we remember, perhaps too much so. It is the worse for wear and sorely in need of some, if not extensive, renovation. A legacy of an earlier employee — a once-beautiful garden she maintained on the terrace — is showing signs of neglect, detracting from rather than enhancing the outdoor dining experience. We'll still return to Praline on occasion, if not with any regularity, if only because the menu falls squarely within my French bistro comfort zone.
Food is excellent, except for Sunday nights.
Service is fairly hit or miss; the last time I dined at the restaurant, I had to tell the waiter that we were ready to order, no water had been poured, no water was re-filled during the meal. I had to request the bill, and the waiter did not check in with us at any time.
I am a frequent customer, and there are differences in the wait staff, most are attentive and helpful, but for some reason water re-filling, and checking in at times are not consistent.
The outside patio, with carefully tended flower pots, is gorgeous, and lovely to sit out on when the evenings are mild.
Prices are reasonable, the menu creative.
We enjoyed our meal. Praline's menu includes a number of traditional French fares I like at a reasonable price.
The food at Praline is truly exceptional. They have redecorated and it is charming! More gourmands should give it a try!
The roast chicken had obviously been cooked hours earlier and re-warmed. You had to hunt for the vegetables in the risotto--and this was re-warmed too. $28 for 4 scallops and gloppy rice! The Niçose was made with canned tuna, not filet. The restaurant is not what it once was.
I love the place but it could use a larger bathroom.
A great neighborhood bistro. The food and the service is excellent - my favorite stop lunch or dinner.
Excellent setting, good food and nice service
The Sunday brunch is quite delicious. We came for Father's Day and our party had a wonderful experience. The eggs Benedict are especially good.
Beautiful roof terrace, excellent French brunch, friendly and accommodating staff. We will definitely be back!
Praline can always be relied upon for good food, sometimes outstanding food, and excellent service.
The atmosphere is pleasant, and the noise level is never overwhelming.
One of our favorites and we are regulars for brunch, lunch and dinner.
The waitress was attentive and friendly, and each one of us (we were four) enjoyed what he or she had ordered.
Ate on the patio. They’ve made it really attractive - if only the furniture was more comfortable.
A delightful gem tucked into a shopping plaza. Food is lovely, service friendly and attentive. On pleasant days/evenings be sure to sit on the patio.
As always the food was excellent what let it down was the service we tried to get the attention of our waiter/waitress but ended up running after them and we couldn’t find the manager to voice our concerns.
My husband and I took a friend visiting from out of town. The weather was nice enough to allow us to sit out on the patio. The waitstaff were friendly, cheerful and responsive without over-hovering or interrupting our chatter. The food was WONDERFUL -- our friend could not get over how much salmon was stuffed into her crepe, and my husband said his burger was perfect. Really an all-around success!
We enjoyed a lovely warm summer evening outdoors in the patio dining area. The patio has the feeling of a lovely garden with the beautiful planters full of flowers. Our seafood and avocado shrimp salads were wonderful. We're looking forward to coming back again soon.
Overall my son and me like to have a lunch or dinner at Praline after his Karate class.
We like merguez sandwich and pizza for kids and almond cake for dessert. The food is very good but I have bad experience today with the lady who manage the seat. I requested the couch seat because I have an issue with back and my son is special need. The couch helps him to sit down during lunch or dinner.
So the lady told me that she had 5 people and I cannot sit there. I left the couch but I stayed there for one hour and half and there were no guests. The 5 people were a ghost lol.
My poor back...
A good place to experience French bistro cooking. A good wine selection and decent if hurried service. Been here many times and will continue to come.
We love Praline! The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and our server went out of her way to make sure my sister got the dessert she had especially been pining for (they originally thought they might be out of it), which lived up to her high expectations! This is a favorite Easter brunch spot for us, but I would recommend Praline any time.
Very good food - fresh, simple, clean and very well cooked. A little pricey (esp drinks) but overall we were very pleased and will return, and recommend. Also, great to have European sized portions and not to be outfaced by the food on the plate. Many thanks - Julian
Always reliably excellent French bistro food in a charming, quiet setting.
