Praline Bakery & Bistro
In the Bistro upstairs, you can dine on all times favorites or on chef's creations like Lamb Stew, Steak Frites, Chicken Pot Pie, Crab Cakes and freshly made sweet and savory crepes.
Food not very good.. Omelette was poor
Delightful and relaxing place for catching up with old friends. Varied and not-the-same-as-every-other-place menu and attentive but not intrusive service.
Outstanding, as always!
We were able to sit outside on the terrace which was very nice and quiet. The food was good and the service was very attentive. There is free parking in the lot which is nice as well.
This is a terrific neighborhood restaurant with outstanding fare and service.
Local French Bistro is quite authentic, and the bread and bakery products are superb. Not a spot for a romantic evening but solid and reliable dining.
solid neighborhood eatery. we both had the duck special which was very good, with sweet potato puree and spinach mousse. surprised that we've not seen any new desserts given that the owner is a pastry chef?
We love Praline, but miss the "Frenchness." We were asked to order our dinner before we'd ordered a drink, told the specials or even looked at the menu. We felt rushed- once I had to grab my plate before it was removed with food still on it. And, PLEASE, don't call people in their 70s "you guys"!
My husband and I love this restaurant whether for lunch or dinner. My beautiful arranged Salade Nicoise on a large white square plate was delicious (actually much better than one I had at a hotel in Nice some years ago); my husband had the poached pear/candied pecan salad and topped it off with a Nutella/Strawberries crepe; he was in heaven.
Great food and service.
Bakery is awesome but restaurant is a bit overpriced for the ambiance and food quality you get
Our server, Brian, was exceptional! He was ready with drink refills before we even asked for one.!
One of the best of our local restaurants. The food is always well prepared and delicious. Service is very good. Grab a coffee and extraordinary pastry (best in town) from the downstairs level or linger at a tasty meal upstairs. Highly recommend!
We used to come here often, but in the last year sadly every visit has been marred by sloppy service, inattention to simple requests such as leaving a food allergy item off the plate, not bringing bread, minuscule portions, seafood that had been sitting around for hours such as a rubbery mussel in the seafood salad. The cooking still has great moments but the overall experience has declined toward dismal, sad because it was an outstanding neighborhood bistro for a long while. The bakery continues to be excellent.
Our lunch was delicious and served with a smile!
I brought 3 friends who were new to the place and they're coming back with friends!
Definitely worth a visit!
We started with smoked salmon that was delicious -- we'd come back to have this and wine anytime! My scallops were cooked properly and delicious, but the risotto was a bit heavy and gummy . The opera cake for dessert was excellent!
I love merguez baguette and my son pizza for kids. Almond cake is so yummy.
But I have an issue with the fresh fruit. I ordered that twice but it was not fresh at all.
sorry, I don't write reviews. Each visit is a new experience and to each their own!
Went for New Years Eve dinner, as it was one of the few that were available with a last minute reservation. Now I know why. Most items were fair to average. The only real plus for this place is location, if they had more local competition I think they'd probably be gone by now (or the bakery is supporting the restaurant, hard to day).
The duck confit with lentils was sensational!
Been going there for years. Great for brunch, lunch and dinner, or just coffee downstairs by the fire. Add in the bakery, and Pralines is hard to beat. Reasonably priced, and good value for the money.
A fabulous French local who has now brought in one of the area’s top restaurant managers from Great American Restaurant Group. Great gets better. Wonderful food. Great wine cellar. Save room for homemade pastries!!!!
Food was great as usually. Love the bakery.
Praline is tucked away in an out of the way shopping center, but it is worth the ride to find it. I had the rack of lamb - delicious. My friends had the risotto and scallops - also delicious. And we each had a marvelous dessert. I particularly recommend the signature dessert - walnut cake. Memorable in the best possible way.
We shared the steak frites special and the chicken pot pie. Both were delicious. Service was friendly. Food came out fast and perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.
Excellent Sunday brunch. The buckwheat crepes were massive; I had the smoked salmon. My friend liked the quiche Lorraine. Salad was plain but good. Latte average. Service was fine. Visit the bakery counter downstairs on your way out. Plenty of parking.
The food was very good. The lighting was very bright and not relaxing for an evening out. (Also, the new decor is not so appealing)
This is an attractive, small and quiet restaurant which is easy to get to (by car) and has ample free parking, being in a shopping center. The food is good (I had an excellent vegetable risotto), the tables are well-spaced, and it is not noisy (a rare commodity these days). The prices are average for Bethesda. The menu is rather short, which is perhaps to be expected given the size of the place.
The service was not great on this particular occasion, but it has been better on previous occasions we have been there for dinner.
I love Praline and eat there often. The food is wonderful. I good weather eating out on the rooftop deck is a treat, especially surrounded by all the beautiful flowers and herbs that are growing in profusion.
I have eaten at Praline several times in the past couple of years and enjoyed every meal. The crepes, egg dishes and quiche that I have sampled are really delicious and generously apportioned. The service was prompt and friendly and eager to please. After each meal, I look forward to visiting the bakery downstairs and usually walk away with some outstanding goodies from the showcase.
Our waitress was quite wonderful - so lovely to speak French. My crab cake was quite delicious, but I might have enjoyed it more without French fries. Perhaps an option could be offered for a non-fried vegetable.
Birthday lunch with ladies
Well, with the fabulous bakery downstairs, what more can you ask for? Thoughtful, knowledgeable staff. Authentic French. Perfect for a quiet meal with a friend or five.
All three of us agreed this was he bst mral we have had all Summer! Lovely presentation and flavors to remember days afterwards. Crepe Suzette too good! Cant wait to return!
Food was good as expected. Service was a bit slow/spotty. We were seated outside so could not see what was going on inside but we had several periods looking for our server in between courses.
Last three times, the food has been mediocre at best.
Salads poorly dressed with little flavor. Overcooked and dry salmon.
Disappointing. Greens not fresh and portion limited.
My friend's salad was drenched in mayonnaise and little seafood
Pleasant place with good parking.
Terrace is a nice place to sit when the weather permits.
I will not suggest is again.
it was the perfect combination of good food and quiet ambiance.
It was the tag-end of a long weekend so not surprising they were out of a few things. But Cointreau? In a French restaurant? Salads are a high point - always fresh and generous, with nice combinations of ingredients. We both had mahi-mahi, and it was like buttah, nicely presented with broccolini, quinoa, and a delicious sauce. Especially attractive list of wines by the glass. I have to knock a couple points off for service this time, though. They brought my husband's cocktail before telling me they didn't have the ingredients for mine, and they left the cutlery rather than bringing fresh ones between courses. That said, Praline is a local fave and we still love the food.
It's a neighborhood gem - consistently good food and atmosphere.
