Took my son and grandson for my son's birthday. We all enjoyed it greatly.
Wonderful food service, wonderful tasteing food, beautiful views from all seats. Great attentive staff.
Service was slow and tuna was over cooked, have had better experiences in the past.
I had the petite steak- while tasty it was full of fat and gristle
great taste. Fish was over-cooked. Beautiful setting and furnishings.
We made a reservation
Was put in a small room with a table Of four very loud people.
Ordered margaritas they were horrible we didn’t even drink them.
Steaks came out asked for med rare and they were well done.
Meal came with steal bread pudding that was more like a burned muffin with too much herb.
The bread they brought out was hard.
Been going to this place for a couple years now and it use to be great.
No more! last three visits we have seen food go downhill.
Good visit for a evening dinner. Did the Wednesday Night Wine and Dine. Our server Daniel was very attentive and friendly.
Everything was great, our window was hazy so our view was kind of annoying, and there was a few ladies behind us who were playing youtube videos the whole time, but of course we don't blame PS for that. A great experience, we'll be back.
I had heard Prarie Star was under new management and decided to give it a try again. Our server was wonderful. Very attentive, but gave us time to visit. We were also seated in a smaller room without any other diners and this made it quiet and easy to visit.
My husband ordered a gin and tonic. The tonic water was flat and when the server brought him a new drink it was still flat. Our friends had the duck. They both thought it was very tough. It came with a type of blue mashed potato, but came out looking like a grey paste. The rest of us had the sirloin. It was flavorful, but very tough. I had a hard time cutting it in places with the steak knife.
The price was more reasonable than say Artichoke Cafe, but I would have rather paid another $10.00 a plate for superior food and atmosphere.
Sadly the restaurant looks like it hasn’t been renovated since the 90’s. It’s unfortunate because the restaurant has some wonderful views of the city lights.
I took my fiance for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent. The waiter was very friendly and polite but not quite as attentive as I would expect for a place like this. It wasn't very busy. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a group of four older people that bitched about everything when the wait staff walked away. It was hard to enjoy the evening. But we managed to make the best if it.
Prairie Star always delivers. My wife and I went Valentine's Day for the prix fixe 5 course meal. Everything was terrific.
Once again, very special place, Great service, good food. A little pricey but worth it. Valet parking would be a good addition.
Excellent restaurant, Bosque and golf course views, excellent menu, wine and service. Worth the trip.
Food was great. Need to update your menu and add a few new things. Sorry you were out of red roasters. I loved it when you had polenta. Need to have a soup option. Lovely view and ambiance. This was for Fat Tuesday and there was NO recognition of that in the menu or the staff awareness.
The food was good but not the quality of previous visit. The vinaigrette for the salad was one of the worse vinaigrette I ever had. There were spiders climbing the walls by our table. The napkins smelled horrible! I really have enjoyed the food in the past. I was disappointed in the quality of the food and cleanest.
Been here many times and been happy
This time felt wait staff ignored us and portions were very small
Came for an intimate family celebration for my son's wedding. We loved the experience in the cozy main dining room with the hummingbird painted fireplace that sets the relaxed atmosphere! This place continues to be our favorite on this side of town!
Food is awesome and never disappoints!
Love the coziness. The food is consistently good. Service never fails.
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Both the trout and bison were skillfully prepared and well seasoned. Extensive wine list included some affordably priced options. Will have to go back to try new dishes.
Excellent dinner in a romantic setting for hubby's birthday celebration.
Prairie tar is our favorite local Restaurant. We always go there for special occasions - anniversaries, birthdays. We also love the Wednesday night specials. This place is true gem of New Mexico.
It's been a long time since we've been to Prairie Star but I don't know why. The food is fantastic. The service is impeccable. The view is amazing
I ordered the steak with potato and broccoli I and crew Brûlée for dessert. It was fantastic!
Restaurant is difficult to get to during rush hour, especially if you are coming from Albuquerque, Food was average and served slightly on the cool side although there were few other customers.
Prime rib cut is thin and tender.
We love the Prairie Star. Always Outstanding service, wonderful food, and lovely atmosphere. Also it has a killer view of the Sandia's at Sunset.
We've been considering the Wednesday Wine and Dine for some time and finally made the drive from Albuquerque. Well worth the drive just under 20 minutes. Very nice change of pace! We'll be back with friends soon.
Prairie Star is always our choice for a special night out. Wonderful ambience, excellent service and good food. Wine and dine is a wonderful value that is well worth the drive.
We went for "Wednesday Wine and Dine" which is consistently great! And, this visit was no exception. From appetizer to dessert was perfection!!
Prairie Star has always been very consistent in showcasing delicious mid range priced meals with exceptional service.
Wednesday night is a wine paring special dinner and dessert. If it's available try it.
A window seat for a couple is a treat especially at sunset.
The Prairie Star lived up to it's reputation. It is DEFINITELY one of the BEST restaurants in New Mexico. Several years ago, I brought a group of international business associates to the Prairie Star for dinner. Many said it was the best meal they had had in the US! And our dinner on New years Eve was just as good. If you want a GREAT meal, you can't go wrong at the Prairie Star!
We have been away from Prairie Star for a long time. A former favorite, at our last visit (several years ago), the food was poorly prepared, the wine list had been reduced to a one-page laminated card, and the service was sadly lacking. We stayed away a LONG time.
We decided to try a return visit and we’re glad we did. While the menu is more limited than when it was a favorite, the excellent wine selections have returned and the service was good. We both had the baked salmon, which was prepared per our request. My husband’s portion was much thicker—nearly twice the size of mine, but it was OK for this time. The creme brûlée was perfect.
We will put Prairie Star back on our list of restaurants to enjoy and we are glad to be back.
We were there for the Wednesday special for 2. We loved our salad and soup, the entrees were well prepared (we had the ribeye) and the chocolate dessert with amartena cherries was to die for. The wine that came with the meal was excellent too.
We went for my sister's birthday. I was hoping for something a little more impressive. The ambiance is certainly lovely - fire place, intimate tables, nice lighting, but the food was underwhelming. There were 3 of us out together, and we all left something on our plates...the vegetable medley with lima beans (warning please), or the dry polenta. They served some exotic potato with my sister's and my choice of a "seafood duo"...nothing special. And they heavily breaded and apparently fried one of 2 fish offerings in the seafood medley. No seasoning at all on the second one. We ended up using some sauce our dinner companion had been given with his beef entree to give our fish some flavor. Given the setting and the hype, I had expected something more. Alas!
Had Christmas Eve prix fixe menu with wine pairings. Great food and the wine pairings were spot on. Had a great table next to the fireplace. Service very attentive, but not too attentive or overdone. Nice evening out.
The food was very good with unusual touches. The ambience and quiet (low murmur) were also very nice. The service although friendly was hit or miss. The wait staff was not at all coordinated and didn't seem to know who was doing what. Would definitely return for the food with the hope service improves.
We went for their special Christmas Eve Dinner & were told we could not sit in the bar for a cocktail, but had to go to our reserved table. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation & wanted to relax in the small bar area for the ambiance. Anyway, we went to our table reluctantly. We waited for over 20 minutes before someone ever came to our table to acknowledge us. I had to go into the bar area to order our cocktails from the bartender. He was great & brought them to our table & sent our waiter over to us finally. The 4 course meal with the designated wines was good, though very small portions and the main course seemed to be dry/cool as if it had been sitting for awhile.
I would love to come back for a normal menu dinner, but I don't recommend their course dinners.
Food and Service great!
Beautiful atmosphere oils highly recommend
Very disappointed....no sommelier on staff...wait person did not know anything about wines....
We had a mixed experience. We enjoyed the atmosphere, and the service was excellent. We had a party of four. One person ordered a bison dish, and that was very good. One person ordered the Sirloin, and that was very good. Two of us ordered the Prime Rib special, as it was 'Prime Rib Thursday'. The prime rib dish came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The Mashed potatoes were room temperature, as was the asparagus (for both plates). The Prime Rib on my plate was one half rare and one half medium well. I had to send it back for finishing and to get the potatoes warmer, as they still were not hot when they came back. I think I would try this restaurant again, just not get a special that seemed like it was made in advance.
Everything about this meal, from the service to the food, was perfect! Keep up the good work.
