Chef Sarah Stegner joins husband Rohit Nambiar & fellow chef George Bumbaris in creating this casual Northbrook restaurant, boasting a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Wood-top tables without tablecloths give the main dining room a contemporary feel while seating is also available in the bar area. A menu, changing monthly, features contemporary American fare featuring seasonal ingredients. For dessert, Chef Stegner's mother bakes delicious pies.

Ordered skirt steak salad— very bland , cheese tasted processed, salad dressing too thick, requested balsamic vinegar dressing instead.

We have been to this restaurant several times and have moved out of town. We always make sure to come back whenever we return to the area. Food is consistently wonderful. Service is always terrific. One of our favorite places to eat.

Prices here are 40% higher than my country club, quarter mile away, where it's quieter and the décor far superior .....

The service is always attentive and knowledgeable. I had and loved the half duck, delicious and the skin is so crisp. The sides that come with it are wonderfully complimentary and tasty. The crispy Brussels sprouts are a great treat.

I thought the menu was limited and it was difficult to find something in the menu that I wanted.

The service was horrible and disrespectful. We had to wait 30 minutes for someone to take our order. That was only one example how terrible the service was. The restaurant wasn’t even full.

Good food, generous but not huge portions, excellent desserts. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Daily specials include a soup we always have, usually a cream soup with a marvelous texture and deep flavor. There are many standard dishes, some with special touches, including a flank steak with ancho chilies. We think the fruit pies are the best. Noisy at lunch, invariably busy and crowded, so we book late for lunch at 1 or 1.30, when the crowd has thinned and the din is down. Many on the staff have been here for a long time, so the service is almost always excellent. Warm and friendly, start to finish.

The food was excellent and plentiful. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. However, the restaurant's look and feel seemed a bit dated, and could be a bit nicer for the level of the menu and food offerings.

Their Portobella Bene is just fabulous. The service this time around was kind of slow perhaps because it was just an hour into their opening, but still the food was decent.

The smoked salmon was a bit salty.

The low rating on ambiance and overall experience is due to a circumstance that I hope was a single experience. At an adjacent table to ours a group of three women arrived with a tiny, presumably credentialed “service” dog that was allowed to stand on their table, sit in a child’s booster chair and eat from a dish on the table. The hostess claimed not to be able legally to interfere with that process. While I fully support well trained and behaved dogs being welcomed in a restaurant and I’ve experienced this in settings where they are not even required to be “service” animals, dogs are not people and should be expected to be unobtrusive and remain on the floor. I suspect the Board of Health would and should have regulations that prevent animals from being fed and entertained on the table. Sadly for us, this spoiled what would otherwise have been a pleasurable meal over which we would have lingered and added dessert and coffee. We love dogs, have dogs and even have a child who is a veterinary surgeon so we are not anti-dogs. But we are concerned that a restaurant does not use its authority to set some standards and expectations that serve the needs of all its guests.
