Always a very satisfying experience. Thoughtful, attentive service and always a warm welcome. Best times for lunch as 11-12 and 1 to 2. It is very busy 12-1 with a lot of enthusiastic business people and can feel a little crowded. Top to bottom the menu is full of great food. On our most recent visit the asparagus soup was the star of the meal, velvety texture, fresh asparagus taste, perfect spring color. I took a serving home. Crispy chicken salad is a hearty lunch choice, crunchy texture on the chicken paired with a slight touch of sweet in the dressing. On other visits the steak has been great, also the (limited) fish choices. A great variety of sandwiches, always an omelette of the day. Save room for dessert. The strawberry-rhubarb pie (with ice cream) list visit was the perfect finish to a lovely lunch, charming. We will be back. Highly recommended. consistently great food, nice pace, lively but never noisy. Watch out for weekend brunch, though, and tables with kids running around.

Our dinners were great. We all had fish - halibut, whitefish and talapia. I would definitely go back. A little pricy and everything is separate as far as a full meal. It is loud. Hard to hear one another talk. Good service. Waitress was very nice. We did have to ask for bread three times. Bread boy wasn't very nice.

We live in Northbrook and have been going to Prairie Grass since it first opened. It is probably our favorite restaurant anywhere. For whatever reason, we have not been there in several months and really missed the Prairie Grass experience. Returning there for dinner last week was like going home. The food is excellent. The service is friendly. And there is always Mom's pie.

15 minutes before waitress stopped by our table while others seated after us were served meals. Depending fried fish was mostly coating. Very noisy.

My "award-winning" sirloin burger was dry and of uninteresting texture and the bun is too dry to accommodate it-- just as the last time i ordered it.

Shrimp phyllo dough roll - excellent. Miss the peekytoe crab cake from the past. Flavorful kale-cheese-mushroom flatbread. Daily specials are always a joy.
Seafood always excellent. Western sole - outstanding flavorful, spring preparation. Terrific!
Great fish and chips . Dietary request, like, olive oil allergy, is now honored here. That is a positive change from the past. Excellent cooking. Reminds us of Ritz-Carlton days.
This is more of a local North Shore dining experience with seasonal specialties. Seasoned waitstaff is professional.

Miss Prairie Fire. Glad Prairie Grass is thriving. Because the fish is specially sourced, it makes
a difference.

Always a pleasure to dine here. Most nights there are families. Keep up the excellent work.
Worth the trip from the city.

The food is always well, seasoned, well prepared and very good. Our server seemed overwhelmed, even though it was that busy, can’t say she wasn’t attentive, but in a very awkward way. She didn’t understand a wine request, and rolled her eyes when it was pointed out to,her that it was not what we ordered. It was just the service we received, and by no means would keep us from returning.

Quiet enough to be able to have an intimate conversation, we enjoyed this restaurant. I ordered the house Cabernet and the Salmon Pizza appetizer and both were very good. The pizza was a wonderful take on the locks-and-bagels, but served on a crispy thin crust with capers. Delish! My friend ordered a nice caesar salad and added chicken, as she was dieting and she said it was very good. I ordered the lamb sausage, served with lentils. Great, not too spicey. I also tried the double-chocolate cake, and took some home to share; extremely rich and decadent buttercream. I recommend! Service was great, not intrusive but attentive. A warm, friendly restaurant to visit with friends and or business associates, but nice enough for a birthday or anniversary, in Northbrook.

Yuck! One and Done. Very disappointed with this restaurant and would not bother going back. I had mushroom soup that was very good, followed by mozzarella and tomato salad, fair and the half duck which was awful. Although it did not describe the preparation of the duck other than "crispy" I expected it to be roasted, which is the usual preparation. This duck was deep fried and a most unappealing yellow color. I regret that I didn't return it. The service was just so-so, but it was especially irritating to have the waiter reaching in front of our faces to refill water glasses. The prices for the quality of the food were too high. Definitely would not go back.

There was a hair in my daughters meal. She is 11 and was upset. We showed the server and he took the plate. The manager came over at the end of the meal and said they couldn’t find the hair and that the server didn’t see it. I was dumbfounded. She said that “if I wanted” they would take the meal off the bill but they didn’t see a hair. Knowing that we specifically showed the waiter, it was pulled from my daughters dish and she was visibily upset...I was offended by the flippant and accusatory demeanor. When I said yes, it should be removed, she said ok but no one working for her had “the color of hair we found” and started laughing as she walked away. This was our fourth time hear but needless to say, we won’t be back.

I usually love PG and eat here when we're dining locally. However, this one time it was not up to par. When I arrived, my friends were already seated (though they said the hostess wanted them to wait until I arrived -- even though one woman had just had hip surgery and was walking with a cane, they didn't want to seat them). My friends said the staff was not in a good mood. When our food arrived, the server gave everyone the wrong plate. My hamburger was supposed to be medium rare and it was not pink inside at all: I sent it back (and when I did, the waiter seemed annoyed). This was the first time ever that my burger was not cooked correctly. . .and the first time the wait staff was surly. So: has there been a change in management? Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

I was very disappointed, the place is dingy and needs to be updated. The food was prepared ahead of time and the $36 halibut came cold as did the mashed potatoes. I was grateful my friends weren't able to join us. I would have been embarrassed selecting this as a fine dining option.

The noise level was extremely loud. We had forgotten that Prairie Grass attracts families with babies and elderly parents. We won’t go again on a Saturday early evening. The meals were good. We had the duck, a chicken dish and fish and chips. Our server was very nice but rushed off his feet so we had to ask twice for vinegar for the fish and chips, another round of drinks and the bill. In future, we will stick with Sunday brunch.

Very reliable and enjoyable. It's a good idea to show up after 1 p.m. for lunch, which can be very busy. Service is prompt as well as attentive and friendly, just formal enough. The menu is full of rewarding staples, including fish and a nice mix of salads. The chef makes marvelous vegetable cream soups, and desserts are lovely--lemon pie, banana cream pie, we've had a lot of them. Brunch is great here, wonderful ricotta pancakes, coffee cake, and good omelettes.

I have been to Prairie Grass many times but I have not been for lunch in a long time. Let me say this place hasn’t been around this long for no reason. The service is impeccable and the food never disappoints. It was Birthday and my parents took me out for lunch,we ordered a cocktail and they said “ happy birthday “ Our waitress must have overheard us and at the end of our meal brought out a decorated Happy Birthday plate with a cupcake and sang! That is a very attentive waitress. I will continue to go back because the food is always delicious!

I LOVE this restaurant!! Their specials are always delicious, but I especially love their seasonal menus. The season salads never disappoint. Tonight’s, shaved Brussels sprouts with butternut squash was fantastic. We each had that and their drippy half duck over braised cabbage which was so tasty and wonderful. The coffee is also excellent!
