Prairie Grass Café Ratings and Reviews
This was a great place for brunch. We were celebrating a soon to be new addition to the family, but were a small party (6 of us). The hostess and waiter were great about accommodating us some extra space due to the number of gifts we brought with. The food was great. Would definitely come here again.
I have have eaten at Prairie Grass quite a few time but I brought my adult son with me for the first time. He thought he had died and gone to heaven. The food was excellent! We had the butternut squash flatbread and Brussels sprouts, the Pablo crusted pork cutlet and he took a piece of the pumpkin pie Home. Our waitress was also excellent! Delicious and we will be back!
Always reliable, a warm and welcoming place with an attractive menu and a daily special. Soups are terrific, nothing less than that. The squash soup this visit was perfect, creamy and smooth with a distinctive fresh-squash flavor. Guests loved the tuna melt and egg-salad sandwich, and my whitefish was fresh and accompanied by crisp green beans. Sensible portions, light food. The pumpkin pie was another example of sophisicated preparation that preserved garden-fresh taste (but I would have liked more whipped cream). Greeting and service at all levels are just right. The restaurant feels noisy from 12 to 1, when the business people pack it for lunch. By 1 it is quiet and easier for conversation. A wonderful restaurant.
We love Prairie Grass! The food is great and the service outstanding! We dined there on Saturday with friends. 3 of the 4 of us ordered Salmon which was a special. A few minutes later, our server came back to the table to tell us that they had run out of Salmon. 2 changed their orders to Halibut , 1 to chicken. When our food arrived the waiter brought a lovely plate of Salmon...the last that the kitchen had. The chef sent it out gratis so we could each have a taste. A lovely gesture.
We had never dined here, and decided to try it out because it looked like a nice place to meet an older friend for dinner and conversation. As it turned out, the restaurant was incredibly loud. We ended up in the smaller, less special-looking dining room, in a corner, in order to escape the noise, but we still had to huddle and raise our voices to be heard. Our friend is hard of hearing, so this was a particularly bad situation.
The meal was very good, but not better than one would expect for the price. It would be good if the management would focus on how the restaurant sounds (not just how it looks), and invest in some acoustic paneling or other solutions.
We have been to Prairie Grass for brunch and lunch on several occasions. However, we found dinner to be very disappointing. The restaurant was busy, lots of children and seniors and the noise level was deafening. We had a chicken cutlet meal (which was fried) and a sirloin burger. The burger was delicious (it's a signature dish) but the chicken very mediocre. We will go back for breakfast and lunch but give dinner a miss in future.
Celebrated my mom's birthday. Wanted to have brunch, gave Prairie Grass a chance and we were all pleasantly surprised. Our server was wonderful and attentive. The restaurant was just busy enough. The food was usual brunch menu of eggs and pancakes but all very tasty-nothing over the top. Prices were very affordable too. They brought out birthday treat without my asking, out it in the notes on my open table reservation notes. Would definitely go back, especially with large groups.
