The food was delicious! I had a halibut dish that was very tasty. Two in our party had the fish and chips and love it.
Fabulous food & service!
We dine multiple times a year, with great pleasure, at Prairie Grass.
Never ever disappointment.
Superb (very attentive) service.
Outstanding menu choices to select from.
Often -- especially on weekends -- we make a 5:30 PM reservation to avoid the rising hub-and-bub tempo.
We'll be back soon.
Overall was very good. The food was good, atmosphere was fine, and service was good. The only negative was it was pricey for the amount of food.
Just a great dinner at one of my favorite restaurant. The owners and entire staff are great.
Service was slow. Very noisy.
11:00 reservations. We had our birthday lunch for my sister. They accommodate her request to add an over medium eggs as a side to compliment her steak. The busboy or gentlemen was so attentive and kept our coffees refill and warm bread on the table. The waiter even surprised my sister with a chocolate cupcake with candle. Great touch.
I do recommend the restaurant and we’ll be back.
I have been dining at Prairie Grass for many years. It is consistently excellent in all respects and the food is always good. They are especially good with fish. Highly recommend.
As always, you exceeded our expectations. There were eight of us celebrating our daughter's birthday. The food was spectacular. The server was outstanding. Could not have been better. Thank you
always welcoming Nice hotesses at all times like the booths
Excellent healthy food with wonderful care by the staff!
Happy to see this place doing a vibrant lunch business The meal was very good and as ordered (substitutions and deletions). Service great. Lively atmosphere yet quiet enough to converse.
Consistently good. Enjoyed the duck and halibut dinners.
Always a very satisfying experience. Thoughtful, attentive service and always a warm welcome. Best times for lunch as 11-12 and 1 to 2. It is very busy 12-1 with a lot of enthusiastic business people and can feel a little crowded. Top to bottom the menu is full of great food. On our most recent visit the asparagus soup was the star of the meal, velvety texture, fresh asparagus taste, perfect spring color. I took a serving home. Crispy chicken salad is a hearty lunch choice, crunchy texture on the chicken paired with a slight touch of sweet in the dressing. On other visits the steak has been great, also the (limited) fish choices. A great variety of sandwiches, always an omelette of the day. Save room for dessert. The strawberry-rhubarb pie (with ice cream) list visit was the perfect finish to a lovely lunch, charming. We will be back. Highly recommended. consistently great food, nice pace, lively but never noisy. Watch out for weekend brunch, though, and tables with kids running around.
Best skirt steak and creamed spinach I have ever eaten.
Food was good. This was my first visit for lunch. Staff was personable, however it was very loud and difficult to hear
Our dinners were great. We all had fish - halibut, whitefish and talapia. I would definitely go back. A little pricy and everything is separate as far as a full meal. It is loud. Hard to hear one another talk. Good service. Waitress was very nice. We did have to ask for bread three times. Bread boy wasn't very nice.
We live in Northbrook and have been going to Prairie Grass since it first opened. It is probably our favorite restaurant anywhere. For whatever reason, we have not been there in several months and really missed the Prairie Grass experience. Returning there for dinner last week was like going home. The food is excellent. The service is friendly. And there is always Mom's pie.
15 minutes before waitress stopped by our table while others seated after us were served meals. Depending fried fish was mostly coating. Very noisy.
Birthday. It’s always consistently wonderful at PG!
Fresh, fresh, fresh
served hot and quickly
consistent high quality proteins, salads, vegetables
Comfortable and relaxed and welcoming environment
Chefs and staff happily accommodate any diet restrictions you may require
Prairie Grass is a great value for quality food with interesting specials and great service. We always lunch here when going to the Botanic Garden.
Our dinner was lovely until some over zealous staff members took plates and tried to clean off the table as we were sitting and chatting. The restaurant was not full and this was not nevessary
My "award-winning" sirloin burger was dry and of uninteresting texture and the bun is too dry to accommodate it-- just as the last time i ordered it.
Shrimp phyllo dough roll - excellent. Miss the peekytoe crab cake from the past. Flavorful kale-cheese-mushroom flatbread. Daily specials are always a joy.
Seafood always excellent. Western sole - outstanding flavorful, spring preparation. Terrific!
Great fish and chips . Dietary request, like, olive oil allergy, is now honored here. That is a positive change from the past. Excellent cooking. Reminds us of Ritz-Carlton days.
This is more of a local North Shore dining experience with seasonal specialties. Seasoned waitstaff is professional.
Miss Prairie Fire. Glad Prairie Grass is thriving. Because the fish is specially sourced, it makes
Always a pleasure to dine here. Most nights there are families. Keep up the excellent work.
Worth the trip from the city.
The food is always well, seasoned, well prepared and very good. Our server seemed overwhelmed, even though it was that busy, can’t say she wasn’t attentive, but in a very awkward way. She didn’t understand a wine request, and rolled her eyes when it was pointed out to,her that it was not what we ordered. It was just the service we received, and by no means would keep us from returning.
Service was wonderful. Half price hamburgers were fair. Didn't care for the menu.
Won't be going back.
Quiet enough to be able to have an intimate conversation, we enjoyed this restaurant. I ordered the house Cabernet and the Salmon Pizza appetizer and both were very good. The pizza was a wonderful take on the locks-and-bagels, but served on a crispy thin crust with capers. Delish! My friend ordered a nice caesar salad and added chicken, as she was dieting and she said it was very good. I ordered the lamb sausage, served with lentils. Great, not too spicey. I also tried the double-chocolate cake, and took some home to share; extremely rich and decadent buttercream. I recommend! Service was great, not intrusive but attentive. A warm, friendly restaurant to visit with friends and or business associates, but nice enough for a birthday or anniversary, in Northbrook.
Always perfect. Wide range of appetizers soups dald
The food is always good there, though a bit overpriced.
An enjoyable meal with very good service.
Food was wonderful. Can't beat the value for a great burger. A bit noisy.
Yuck! One and Done. Very disappointed with this restaurant and would not bother going back. I had mushroom soup that was very good, followed by mozzarella and tomato salad, fair and the half duck which was awful. Although it did not describe the preparation of the duck other than "crispy" I expected it to be roasted, which is the usual preparation. This duck was deep fried and a most unappealing yellow color. I regret that I didn't return it. The service was just so-so, but it was especially irritating to have the waiter reaching in front of our faces to refill water glasses. The prices for the quality of the food were too high. Definitely would not go back.
Great meal..but tad salty today..must agree sometimes staff seems upset..I believe all are great but human..please smile at your regulars..who truly care and support all..who work hard in front and in back😉
