Prairie Grass Café
Wonderful, thoughtful chef! Delicious food every time. All of my picky eaters eat well here!
Waitress delightful, egg salad wow.
We were very disappointed with the food, service and noise level.
We were a table of 5 in a booth and our ears were burning from all the noise.
The only thing keeping me from giving an outstanding review is the noise level. Its beyond loud on a busy day to the point where you need to yell across the table to be heard. I can only recommend eating early before the crowd arrives or later in the day.
Other than that, the food is excellent.
Good food, good service, a bit on the noisy side.
Food and ambiance was good! Yes I would recommend this restaurant.
I think the food is wonderful and the service is excellent. The wait staff and hostesses were terrific. My only problem is the noise level. We went at 5pm on a Sunday so we could talk to our friends without screaming at each other. Unfortunately at a normal meal time you can't hear yourself think and you certainly can't hear anyone else. So if you want to try this restaurant do so at an early hour
We (4 women) were celebrating a friend's birthday. While the restaurant was very busy and fairly loud, it was a great location. Food was great and options were good, and our friend was given a scoop of ice cream instead of the typical birthday cupcake since she is gluten-free! Service was great -- attentive and timing was great.
Love Prairie Grass. Quality food. Service is outstanding. From when you enter and sit down they could not be more attentive. It’s my go to place. Can eat light and simple or full entrée meals. Keep up the good work.
Crispy chicken salad was sadly lacking in excitement. Boring with tons of lettuce a few tomatoes and shredded carrots.
As always, we were warmly greeted and given a great booth. We were seated with a favorite sever Nate and the food was amazing, fresh and delicious.
A gem on the Northshore! Truly delicious food, amazing wine list and gracious host and staff!
We were a group of five women having lunch. Service was excellent. Portions ample and we were allowed to sit and have a conversation without being rushed.
One negative - the parking lot had not been cleared adequately of snow and ice and was slippery and somewhat dangerous.
Prairie Grass is always a treat. Great food and service. Library is best for quieter ambiance.
Great place comfortable consistent food. Something for everybody.
We eat here at least a couple times a month and are always happy with our meal. The food is delicious, not overpriced, healthy and the service is wonderful.
This was a great place to eat before seeing a play at the Writers Theatre. The crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer was truly crispy and delicious. Husband enjoyed the lamb rolls. Then we both opted for fish dishes. He had the fish and chips which were lightly battered and perfectly cooked (although the potatoes were more like steak wedges than chips). He liked the coleslaw that came with the fish. I had the seared Ahi tuna steak which was a bit more towards medium rare than rare, but still delicious. The service was top notch and we will definitely be back.
Dinner with a longtime friend. Delicious dinner and wonderful service. We love the different fish choices. Prairie Grass is consistently great. Thank you!
This was our second visit to Prairie Grass Café. The ambience, food and service were terrific. We find it to be a bit pricey. We had one round of drinks for two, shared an entree and each ordered a salad and the bill, including tax and tip, was over $100.
We dine at PGC frequently. Never are we disappointed. Outstanding menu items, highly professional servers, and very good value.
New salmon burger was delicious!!
Not so good service not great goofed 2 meals so we all ate at different times. She said she goofed and comped the 2 meals but when u go out for a special bday it ruined it. I appreciate the 2 meals but the night was not what it was suppose to be. They also gave free desert but then never asked if we wanted coffee pretty much a disaster. Should if had much better service no manger ever came by to apologize. Server did it and it really was not right. Good was just ok... Brussel sprouts were good rest of the food was ok... bummed it wasn’t a good choice. 7 of us and no one loved it... wish service was better and wish food was better
Excellent service and food. Love the seasonal menu
The food and service were delightful. I have diet restrictions and the server worked with the kitchen and made me feel very comfortable that I would get a safe meal. Starting was a little slow, which made paying the bill a bit rushed at the end, but we stayed on schedule for the evening. We plan to return.
You good value on Wednesday , burgers. Pleasant comfortable restaurant, staff professional, good martinis
My friends have never been to your restaurant . They loved it and would definitely come back. The service was a bit rushed and we had a hard time understanding the waitress accent . She was very nice but couldn’t always understand her. A great evening never less.
Great food and service from start to finish. Realizing that every time we go there, we comment on how great it is. Will be going back soon.
I have come to Prairie Grass about once a year since it's inception. Good food, good service, good location on the North Shore. Farm-to-table concept, seasonal dishes (like the squash soup I had in early Nov), and good desserts. If I could afford it, I would go several times a year. One drawback is the din. Was there on a Wed, starting at 5pm. By 6pm, restaurant was full. Nothing about the layout or design softens the din. But you will find good quality food and dishes not offered at other restaurants. Make a reservation to hold a spot!
Always a pleasure. For weekday lunches, a reservation is a very good idea. On a recent Wednesday there were people waiting to be seated since they did not have reservations. It's busy and a bit noisy for weekday lunch before 1; it is much less crowded when the office workers head out. Highly recommended: soups of the day, egg salad sandwich, and tilapia (recently served over Caesar salad with tomato and avocado, just right). Servings are generous but not huge; lots of great warm sandwiches and pastas. Pies are sensational, fruit pies especially, and we always split a slice. Friendly, attentive service, uniformly good food, plenty of parking. We recently celebrated an anniversary there with a Saturday brunch for about 20 guests. Everybody was delighted with the food and the service. We will be back.
Menu needs a refresh
Very popular for years. Good food but informal atmosphere has many hard surfaces. Thus, noisy when crowded on weekends.
Great tasting food! Creative menu! Restaurant is comfortable! A little pricey but delicious!
We enjoyed it
Pricey for what you get....
$16.00 for an egg white omelette is crazy!
This is my go-to for a business lunch. The food is great and the service is quick and friendly.
Always good! Attentive service, tasty food with lots of choices and reasonable prices. An excellent value.
High quality and lovely dining experience. Fresh from the farm and quality meats and fish dishes. Lovely presentations. Comforting seasonal and delicious options.
Warm bread...Interesting Cocktails....Delicious Specials...Wonderful desserts
My guests thoroughly enjoyed the food at Prairie Grass - innovative specials and locally sourced foods.
We were early for our 730pm reservation so decided to eat at the bar. The bar tender was in overload with orders and beverages. He was a bit lax in taking our food order, but it took close to 40 minutes and a couple of reminders to have our meal served.
We will never eat at the bar again!! It was a major disappointment. The people seated next to us had their orders taken quickly and got their food very fast.
I have a favorite waiter in the dining area. I believe his name is Jorge. We should have waited for his table.
