wonderful as always! The woman who served us was so nice! She was always there to make sure we had everything we needed. . and she recommended a great full-bodied cabernet for me. The catfish tempura was amazing! So tasty and fresh and crisp coating. . we really enjoyed it. Prairie Grass has become our favorite local restaurant

My wife and I went on a Friday evening and it was quite crowded with a boisterous, senior crowd that you'd encounter at a Sunset Special in Florida. We're seniors ourselves so that was OK! We agreed to be seated in "the back room" since the front area was running behind on reservations. The folks in the front room looked like they were having fun and enjoying themselves. The back room was dead and felt like an afterthought. Wait for the front room. We were split on the food. We shared a small shrimp egg roll appetizer which was very tasty, but definitely small. My wife had the Lake Superior Whitefish...it was excellent, came with a huge side of mashed potatoes and a small one of broccoli. I had the touted Ancho Marinated Skirt Steak. Not excellent. It came with fries, that's it. The seasoning was meh and the meat itself was chewy and kind of tough... not the delectable marinated and grilled skirt steak I was expecting. We shared a dessert of 3 small scoops of ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce and nuts. That was good. Prairie Grass Cafe appears to be an extremely popular place with a lot of regulars from the area so I cannot in fairness say I could definitely NOT recommend it. But I was disappointed and will try someplace else next time we happen to be in the Northern Suburbs.

We had a fantastic dinner last night at Prairie Grass. I had the half chicken special with Greek salad and potatoes. My wife had the Parmesan crusted tilapia. We also had to try the corn fritters, the spring rolls and the burrata salad. All of it was really damn good. Service was excellent. Only regret is we ran out of room for dessert!

Salad was beautiful and delicious. Main course was beyond disappointing. Chicken Pot pie was ugly when served..unappetizing to look at and tasted bland. Waiter was totally uninterested in my negative reaction.

The food was wonderful. We had the skirt steak and the boneless crispy chicken. Both were excellent. Service was good and staff was pleasant. We will definitely go to Prairie Grass Café again!

Sirloin burger not like it used to be. Not as tender. I prefer 1/2 a bun but no bun was offered. Beinlich's across the street has a burger that beats this one by a mile...

In my opinion, the food selection is not as good as it used to be. What they keep on the menu is as good as ever. I’m really referring to specials and desserts. The wonderful mom’s pie that they always had is only offered occasionally. Unless you’re a chocolate lover you’re almost out of luck for dessert. The menu is available on line daily so many times we don’t go because of the selections. I still give it 4 stars. I recommend this restaurant with the above comments.

It was a great evening! The fried shrimp special was delicious, as was the beet salad. We loved our special cocktails. . . the blackberry mojito and the special martini UP. As usual, the service was very attentive and friendly. . enjoyed talking about wines with the manager too. This is one of my go-to neighborhood restaurants. . . I think the people who run this restaurant are just great!

This is very clean restaurant, the wait staff knows the menu and drinks, I find this important. The sommelier stop by induced himself. The chef also came out and introduced herself. This is a scratch kitchen the taste reflected that. Don’t forget the homemade pies at the end. Excellent experience we plan on coming back by monthly.

Special short ribs were good but too many mashed potatoes. Caesar salad was mediocre & warm! Halibut was excellent— wish it had come with braised carrots instead of all those potato wedges. I’ll return but am disappointed in this irregular quality.

We went to Prairie Grass for a birthday dinner. The service was outstanding. Our waiter, Ansar, was delightful and friendly. My husband and I both had fish dishes that were amazing, fresh and so flavorful. It was a Monday night, not too crowded. It was my birthday and they brought a delicious chocolate cupcake as well as the desert we ordered. I couldn’t ask for a better birthday celebration dinner.
