Prairie Grass Café
Wonderful as usual. Wait service and bus service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Dessert of chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and chocolate sauce exceptional.
Always very good. Dine there often.
We had a very nice meal. We had some business to discuss and the staff were very accommodating to us doing that and taking our order when we were ready.
We were in a hurry and they responded by serving quickly.
Went for lunch with a friend. Great service, excellent food along with healthy choices. Becoming a ‘go to’ place for me.
You consistently deliver good food in a pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere. Your personnel goes out of their way to make your customers feel welcome and I would add that you have a secret weapon in the person of Jose!
Another stellar experience at Prairie Grass Cafe. This time we were wowed by the halibut with a brioche crust, heirloom tomatoes and creamed corn (!) that was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere is cozy and I love the ever hanging seasonal photography-seems like it could feel gimmicky but it always adds to the atmosphere in a quiet way. Service was perfect and warm as always.
Lovely brunch spot. Everything was delicious!
We love Prairie Grass.
We had a wonderful lunch at Prairie Grass Cafe last Sunday. The sirloin burger and chicken were delicious!
We love this place...we know some staff, are warmly welcomed and the food is beyond delicious and fresh.
As always the food was fresh & delicious, the service was great.
Corn soup- creamy. Seasonal corn fritters - great.
Duck is always a flavorful dish. Well-prepared. Some of the seasoned servers provide a better experience than newer individuals. They help create an ambiance. Worth the trip , out of city.
The food and service were exemplary, as always!
We have visited Prarie Grass before. This time wait for service was endless although place was not crowded. Waiter never reappeared after meal was completed. Food was off target for this visit. Was told fried chicken would be dark and light meat...received only white. Water glasses were never refilled. Sorry evening.
This is a busy (and deservedly so) restaurant serving breakfast, brunch and dinner. We went there for brunch on a Sunday Their menu is unique, with some interesting and really delicious options for pancakes, Benedicts, omelets and other options. The ingredients are locally sourced, the waiters knowledgeable and passionate about the food. The portions are generous. The waiter strongly recommended the lemon ricotta pancakes which we didn't order, but he generously provided us a plateful on the house and they were exceptionally delicious, light, fluffy and lemony and certainly worth ordering on another occasion. This is comfort food, but it is all most tempting and served in a friendly, congenial atmosphere.
Fun chic atmosphere. Great brunch items.
What a disappointment. I find the positive reviews stunningly inconsistent with our experience which was lousy.
This isn’t my first time at Prairie Grass. I had been there a few times years before but thought it had declined in quality so we stopped going. Then a few months ago friends brought us here for dinner and it was pretty good so we tried it again. Big mistake.
First off, the food itself is aggressively mediocre. There were several different dishes and they ranged from low mediocre to medium mediocre. Everyone described their meals as nearly flavorless. For $36 I had the tasteless and undercooked halibut special. Sorry, but halibut is supposed to be cooked and not translucent. Mostly it was just taste-free. My wife had the duck. She described it as mostly flavorless. My son had the pasta bolognese which he described as mostly flavorless but with an unpleasant sweetness. You get the idea.
Service was bad. Our waiter couldn’t handle basic food allergy questions and was slow and not particularly responsive.
I wouldn’t accept this poor experience from a place charging half as much. But PG is expensive and so not worth it. Definitely not going back.
Such a delicious omelette/perfectly dressed side salad too. Only downside was the noise. Got better as lunch crowd dispersed. We stayed beyond and enjoyed a relaxing time together.
We have gone to dinner here many times, but this was our first brunch. It was very good. I prefer going to brunches where you can order off a menu (NOT a buffet) and this hit the mark. The menu options were varied and there was something for everybody. All of our food was great! Will definitely go again.
Service from waiter was non existent until the bill showed. The side of bacon was burnt and way too greasy along with the eggs Benedict coming burnt. Experience was lacking since being a Long time guest. This experience was not to expectation and cost did not justify the value.
Prairie Grass is consistently great! The watermelon side dish for the ahi tuna was new to me and delicious!
Excellent waiter, a pleasure
As always, the food and service were excellent. It was reasonably quiet at our table, but overall the noise level is bothersome for my 65+ year old ears. The prices are a little on the high side compared to a few other restaurants of similar quality.
Kitchen sent out our dinners before the apps. This was a problem
We went for Sunday brunch you eat off the menu it is not a buffet the food was delicious delicious and had a very nice time
Good place for consistent service. Menu is somewhat limited. If you don't want the specials, the regular menu is difficult, needs an update. Chicken is good. Fish so-so if not one of the specials. Overall, a place to which we return despite limitations.
It was very good. Only one of the four of us wasn’t happy with her entree, but it wasn’t what she expected. The rest of us were pleased with everything.
While we always enjoy the food at Prairie Grass, the noise level on a week night was off the charts. Sitting at a round table, it was almost impossible to hear the person across from me. Also, our server was abrupt and impersonal. Definitely could use some finesse in the area of common courtesy and engagement.
Great local dining option! The bar and food menu are outstanding.
For a restaurant in its medium price range, this is a wonderful establishment--adventurous food, carefully prepared, beautifully served, yet very close to comfort food even with the refined touches. Excellent soups, very hot and crispy tempura, both make for starters we come back for over and over. Favorites include the delicate tilapia with a light Parmesan crust, juicy flank steak, and the big burger. On the lighter side, there are lots of good salads, some with unusual touches. The crispy chicken salad is a favorites, with a marvelous dressing. We always share a piece of pie. Be sure, if it is a fruit pie, to ask that it be warmed and served with a bit of ice cream. Warm, genuine welcome, attentive and friendly service. How we wish the season for corn fritters were a little longer, and we'd love to see the guacamole back on the menu. For lunch later is better because there is a big business crowd and it is very busy 12-1 weekdays. Weekend brunch is full of memorable dishes, including lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry sauce. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back.
It was a birthday celebration. Prairie Grass provides a special chocolate cupcake. with a candle, which is
Shrimp rolls - great appetizer. Corn products - current. Flavorful - cream of corn soup, outstanding.
Fig jam and bacon - all right. Real larger figs would add more texture. Flatbreads are usually a good choice.
Duck - with corn and blackberry salad - great choice. Halibut is always outstanding. Blueberry pie had corn
crust, which stands up to the blueberry moisture.
There was a new waiter, and it would be nice to have someone you know for a little celebration.
Wednesdays are big for senior citizens and burger special. Always quite noisy. The farm fresh produce makes a difference. Attention to detail. Both Sarah, chef, and husband were working this night.
We had a great meal at Prairie Grass! Haven’t been there in many, many years and decided to try it. We split both the chicken and the burger. The kitchen split both for us which was a bonus. Both were delicious and sides were great as well. Didn’t even know that
Wednesday was 1/2 price on the burger, another bonus. Our server was good, not overly attentive, but we enjoyed our meal.
Definitely an older crowd (I’m in my mid/late 60’s-felt young).
Would definitely go back, maybe sit at the bar.
Exceptional service and fantastic soups and fish presentations and tastes..such as salmon, halibut, and tonight’s awesome scallops and cauliflower dinner..thanks for a great meal..also the salads tonight were large and well dressed..yes many attendees are seniors..but families on weekends..and fantastic brunch preparations..thanks!??been to Daniels in NY and Alinea four times..and many times Prairire Grass is at the top as they are too!!
We made a reservation on Open Table , but it was not honored when we arrived We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated!!! We might have waited longer, but we chose to be seated in the bar, which worked out great, because the noise level in the restaurant was very loud.
Prairie Grass is one of the better restaurants on the North Shore. It is always one of the first name that comes to mind when I am asked “ where would you like to have lunch or dinner. Food and service are always first class.
Good food and creative dishes!
Everything was perfect. Food, service all flawless.
Celebrating two birthdays.
