Prairie Grass Café
Excellent specials. Friendly wait staff. Fresh ingredients from local sources. Never disappoints.
We were accommodated in the booth we requested, our service was very attentive and the food was perfect according to our order. We lingered over second drinks and did not feel rushed to free up the booth.
Outstanding shrimp spring rolls. Flavorful smoked salmon pizza.
Brussel sprouts salad was interesting with thin match stick cut vegetables.
Duck is always excellent. Now it is thighs. We also enjoy breasts.
Solid pumpkin pie. Nate is an attentive server, outstanding.
Whole staff, from front desk reception to everyone, really care. It is worth the trip from Chicago.
This restaurant is my family's favorite for many reasons. The food is spectacular and often unique. my family values the thought and diligence given to sourcing and quality of all of the ingredients involved in each dish. We have not found an equal in the quality of service that they manage to maintain there - which, I believe, indicates both quality of service to the customer, but also to the employee because the employee retention seems obvious to us. We value this restaurant.
Waiter was terrible. Service was very slow.
Two of the four meals came out wrong.
First visit. Food and service was very good. Will be back.
Loved the meal. Waitress was awesome
Fantastic steak, carrots and Parmesan wedges..as usually great fish and chips.. and always over the top great service.. thanks😉🍀☃️
Food was great
Always a very good meal.
Only good thing was the food although it was overpriced. Service was terrible, very inattentive waiter.
We came for brunch for the first time. The menu was fabulous. We could hardly choose. All of our choices were excellent. The service was attentive and friendly. We can’t wait to try it again
One meal of the four took much longer then the others to be served.
Asked for straw , it never came till we asked again
Took sometime to place our order for out table of 4.
Salad stated on the menu that avocado was on salad,
There was no avocado! Had to ask for it.
We always enjoy Prairie Grass. The servers are excellent. The quality of the food was excellent. I thought the prices at dinner were a little steep. We usually have lunch there and find the prices better at lunch. Keep up the good work
This is a nearby favorite of ours and we look forward to each visit. The atmosphere is always welcoming and warm, and in this case, it was five people at a comfortable table with a sound level that allowed the conversation we hoped for. Prices are most reasonable and the waitstaff was responsive to our needs and wishes. The specials are creative and the regular menu is my favorite with a few "must-order" items to which I look forward each time. The wine list is also quite complete with a good variety of wines-by-the-glass that can, to my tastes, complement any item I choose to order. The pacing was excellent. We'd recommend this to any one in the area looking for a place to go with friends. The skirt steak on the regular menu was, as usual, quite good, while my wife was most pleased with her hamburger, done as she wanted it. Our other diners enjoyed their choices as well. Our only negative, if you can call it that, was that we were too satisfied to continue on with the desserts, which we've found in the past to be excellent.
All good! Great wait staff, awesome burger!
Overall a good experience. Easy to have conversation. Attentive to children. Service was a little slow.
Salmon was suburb‼️
As always, the food was delicious, the service was stellar and we had a lovely evening.
Thought the food was fair and prices too high. $90 per couple with no liquor, dessert or coffee.
Always great food and service. Love this restaurant.
The food was fantastic. Great service. Casual atmosphere with creative chef specials and tasty comfort food. Great place if you want great food and don't want to "dress up".
Terrific hamburger. But we often dine at Prairie Grass and we love the food.
The food and service at Prairie Grass are both quite good. But the restaurant is too expensive for the quality of the food. I have eaten there on many occasions; we are a party of 3 ordering one app, one dessert, three glasses of wine and being price-conscious on the entrees and have never gotten out of there for under $200. We generally go for an early dinner so it is quiet.
Love this restaurant. Brilliant chef, wonderful waitstaff. It always feels like a party...maybe a little too noisy, but worth it!
Comparatively overpriced. Food is good, portion sizes were adequate. Service was excellent.
Awesome flavors for the new style chicken cutlet dinner.. squash flavor ♥️..fish and chips meal great also..as well as great staff.. always a delight.. fantastic👍🏻♥️🍀☃️
Had a nice dinner at Prairie Grass! We have not been there in along time! The food was very good and so was the service! My husband had the bun-less burger and I had the Halibut from the specials! It was breaded and very good but wished they was a light sauce to put on top! Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back.
I came to town and brought my daughter out for dinner.
She never gets a chance to go out for dinner with a (1) one year old and four year old.
Our reservation was at 7:30 and they sat us promptly.
My daughter picked this restaurant because she remembered 4 years ago the duck was so good.
She ordered the duck and they were out of it.
She ordered the chicken. I ordered the White Fish.
1 hour and 10 minutes later the manager comes and tells us, they’re out of chicken.
Who runs out of chicken? We came so hungry, now we were starving.
The manager says he’ll buy us dessert!
My fish was good but I didn’t care for it sitting on mushy mashed potatoes. All I ate was the fish.
We ate the toll house cookie the manager sent but we thought he could have done more.
Too loud to have a conversation in a group.
All of the soups are flavorful, potato-leek, could use some color, but it is well done. Shrimp roll- always flavorful. Brioche halibut is still on menu, excellent. Salmon - excellent . Flatbreads are reliable. Grapefruit Basil- refreshing.
New on menu - strudel. Not seen before. Definitely worth trying. Cooking is a little different whether George or Sarah are the night chefs. Both are excellent.
Delicious food and excellent service.
Once again..superb meal..halibut..wow..apple strudel best ever and its presentation lovely..thanks as always
I suppose that this restaurant should be praised for its reliability. Dishes are well-prepared if not especially imaginative. Ingredients are fresh.
On the other hand, the menu is always the same apart from a daily special or two. The volume of noise can be punishing.
No complaints about service. If, like me, you find many suburban restaurants wanting, this place could be worse.
Always a good experience!
With caveats: good food , not exceptional but too pricey.
I have been here before and brought some new to the restaurant. They enjoyed it, but we wish they had more of a selection of reasonable priced items on menu.
We were going to the Chicago Botanical Gardens and Prairie Grass Cafe was suggested as a great place to eat. It did not disappoint! I had the sirloin burger and it was delicious our entire party enjoyed their meals.
