Powder – Waldorf Astoria Park City Utah Ratings and Reviews
Skiing for a week in Park City and decided to splurge on an expensive dinner one night, Powder was an excellent choice. The food and service were both absolutely top notch, and it was nice that it’s comfortable enough for those who want to come in in jeans after skiing all day. There is a lot of attention to detail at this place. Highly recommended.
Fantastic lunch! We had the salmon, buffalo chili, dirty burger & prime rib sandwich. Son was a little disappointed there wasn't more meat in the prime rib sandwich, but everything else was off the charts. Truffle fries were great as well. Great service by Marina & Juan too.
We've been going to the Waldorf for great dinners for years. It's one of our favorite places in Park City. Last week we had one of the best meals ever. They always have very interesting choices on the menu. The food, presentation and service is always excellent. The wine list is a little expensive by comparison but I can overlook that.
This place is the REAL DEAL! Amazing food Amazing service by everyone from server to to water server All ultra professional. Our waiter Manuel was a true pro. Menu is fabulous and food is off the charts. So good we ate breakfast there the next morning and my review is identical to dinner! If you are in park city and love great food and restaurants do not miss this gem!!!
We had reservations for 845 pm however weren't actually seated until 930 pm. In light of the delay, we decided to wait at the bar which was very full. The bartenders took over 10m to even address us and when they did they informed us drinks will be another 10m wait because they didn't have any glassware. The overall experience was very frustrating. In fairness, our server was very pleasant and the food was delightful however the wait and delays dampened our mood and interest in revisiting.
We had a table by the windows overlooking the pool surrounded by trees full of lights for the Holidays. The service was friendly and professional, and the staff was very kind to our kids. the food was excellent; we had the bison dish, venison, pappardelle with rabbit ragout, the tuna tartare, and it was all excellent. I would skip the seafood tower , all the seafood was good but not a very generous tower for the price (i love the one at Capital Grille) . Overall , perfect place for a special after ski diner
We frequented Powder for breakfast in September when my father was staying at the hotel. We may have eaten there three times and each time was great. My father was in town again and decided to go there for breakfast before taking him to the airport. We were so happy we did! This time (12/28), they had a buffet as an option. It was pretty steep in price ($30/adult, $18/child), but the selection was wonderful and everything delicious. I liked that we didn't pay for things we weren't as in love with and could just eat our favorites. When you have kids, too, it's nice they can fill up on what they love instead of wasting food on their plate. The eggs/benedict station was outstanding, beautiful selection of fruit, greek yogurt with many toppings including homemade granola (a favorite!), smoked salmon...too much to list! We could not have been happier with the food. We love the service there, too, because the employees are all courteous and try to make you happy. The only negative we noticed every time we dined there was that it's difficult to get the silverware and other small things you need. I had to ask for a spoon each time and when it didn't come I had to ask other people. Why not just have them out if you're serving coffee and yogurt? Will go again!
We really enjoyed our meal at Powder. Our server was excellent, very warm with a relaxed yet professional personality. We had a very nice table in the back room, found the seats to be literally as comfortable as I can ever recall at a restaurant.
We had some very nice salads to start with as well as some of the excellent french fries. Entrees were great, moon fish, bison filet, both delicious and cooked to perfection. Bread pudding for dessert was outrageous as were the home spun ice creams.
We would definitely recommend Powder for anyone traveling to Park City, also a bonus to have the Waldorf Astoria valet parking as opposed to looking for a spot on or near Main Street.
Thanks for a great meal.
On the up side: the food was elegant and good tasting with good service. On the down side: the portions were meager and the restaurant was freezing cold (my wife and I should have worn ski parkas to dinner). Maybe it is just me, but I feel like I shouldn't be hungry after I've spend $200 on a dinner for two.
We were delayed 30 minutes from our reservation time on Thanksgiving night.
Menu was very limited, and service was satisfactory at best.
Waiter made inappropriate jokes with available menu items, given our delayed seating.
A complimentary glass of wine would’ve been well received compared to a horrible joke teller.
For Thanksgiving this year we wanted a repeat performance from what this restaurant did in 2016 which was an elaborate buffet. In 2017, they went in a totally different direction: minimal choice, basic Thanksgiving items. Definitely overpriced for what it was. Our vegetarian in our party had minimal choices to choose from. We believe the restaurant director realized they had screwed up. I'm sure others were less than delighted.
Went for their Thanksgiving Special. Everything was perfect, served family style (we were a party of two) and they boxed up the leftovers.
Three courses, a squash soup, the turkey/potatoes/yams/stuffing/green beans/cranberries, then a dessert course of cupcake size carrot cake, a pumpkin tart thing, and apple pie.
We'll do this again!
Overall good experience. Food was delicious, but overpriced. We enjoyed a 2:1 entree special which lowered the price to reasonable considering the quality of the food. Service was 5 star from our waiter but a 25 minute wait from our 7pm reservation lowered my rating two stars.
My wife ordered the flat iron steak. It was so tough she could not chew it. When we complained the waiter told us that flat iron steak is suppose to be tough. I asked if it is suppose to be so tough that she couldn't chew it. After speaking to the chef the waiter explained that they did find a membrane running through the middle of the meat. No one ever apologized, in fact the chef nor a manager ever came to talk to us. Extremely disappointed with the food and the service. There are so many great restaurants in Park City don't waste your time at Powder!
Bummer. You hear Waldorf and glance the menu and expect a top notch experience. Our expectations were FAR from met. Our server was a professional, knowledgeable sweetheart, but our food experience left us exasperated. We opted for the tasting menu with the wine pairing for a birthday/honeymoon dinner. We had one bite that we liked; the amuse bouche. The rest of the meal had all the pretension with none of the quality. Too artfully plated courses left you with no where to cut, or place your utensils. Heavy handed cream of the risotto left a bland, paste taste in my mouth. The scallop with that dish was perfectly cooked and sweet, but it had to be pushed down through the dense risotto to cut. Mushroom soup presentation was lovely, execution was blah. The intermezzo of sorbet was hilarious. Even the server said, "Doesn't it taste like Welch's?" And it did taste like a bad, grape popsicle from the 90's. My husband's entree was so cold I asked, with all sincerity, if it was meant to be a chilled preparation. After being re-flamed, the flavors were better, but the red pepper overpowered the stuffed squash which also remained untouched. The wine pairings were fine, save the desert port which remained untouched. It felt like a culinary school final. We honestly counted it as our one sour note in Park City cuisine. Hopefully it was a one-off and I would give this restaurant the benefit of another visit, selecting my own wines, and ordering from the regular menu.
Powder was amazing, food was prepared with a creative mind and really a pleasure to not only look at but eat. I was having dinner with my wife and 2 kids 1 and 3 and they can be a handful. The service was out of this world, they took so much care in making sure my family was comfortable and happy. I literally felt like we were family here. If you live in Utah use this as a special occasion they really know how to make it special. If your Visiting the Waldorf on vacation this may just be the best experience in all of Park City and that says a lot. Thank you for a wonderful meal and comfortable evening to the wonderful, inviting and well "Special Staff" in this restaurant. This is how service should really be. It will always be remembered.
Off day for this restaurant. Despite arriving on time with the place less than 1/2 full our table was not ready so we had to wait. After ordering we still had to wait over 1/2 hour for our brunch. Actually had to say something to the Maitre'd. Table near us arrived after we did but had their food served in about 10 min. Our food was good but three of us ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs were overlooked to the point of almost hard boiled. My guess is that the kitchen was short staffed so part of our table's food sat under the warming lights while the rest was cooked. Definitely not up to Waldorf standards, IMO.
The food was so delicious and great value. The service was GREAT! From the hostess to our server (he was so awesome!!) to the gentleman clearing our plates, all addressed us by name and made it very personalized. We felt special and had an amazing anniversary meal. Already bragging about it to our friends and family and we can't wait to come again!
Great food, service and ambience. Fact that online description of menu available was incorrect and we were not able to get what the 3-course online menu offered was a little disconcerting. restaurant/hotel with at this level should have top notch/correct marketing.
Beautiful setting in Park City. Food was fresh, local and deliciously prepared. Our recommendations from this evening are the Tasman Salmon, short ribs and fried chicken. I gave the food 4 out of 5 stars because of the friend chicken. Don't get me wrong, it was yummy. But for those of you who have had their fried chicken in the past, you will notice the recipe has changed a bit. Not as good as their previous preparation. Overall, delicious food and impeccable service! Mike and Manuel went above and beyond in making sure we were happy and taken care of. And finally, the red velvet cake was a hit for dessert. Be sure to ask your server about the story behind this popular dessert.
