Powder – Waldorf Astoria Park City Utah
They charged me $$$ to share my food , like who does that ! They didn’t even inform me of the fee when I placed the order , so sneaky such a scam fee
We loved the food but really disliked the ambience of the actual restaurant and our service.
Our server, Paul, was extremely professional, knowledgable, and personable. He and the exquisite food made a perfect evening.
The valet, concierge and host also were friendly and helpful.
Every single bite was AMAZING! Our server was AMAZING! We will definitely return when we come back to Park City area.
The view was beautiful and the food was amazing!
Amazing breakfast menu and impeccable service. Felt very Covid safe.
We came to the restaurant at 2:30 pm and was almost empty. Our waitress was nice but did not know much about the food. Our food seemed purchased at a supermarket and heated. The restaurant is beautiful but the quality leaves much to be desired
The food was terrible. No flavor and not fresh (the breakfast fruit plate actually had bad/sour Mellon that had clearly gone bad). I was surprised given the reviews and “farm to table” claims. For a high-end, overpriced breakfast, I at least expect decent food.
Evening out with my wife sans kids. It was a Monday evening so the restaurant was virtually empty (I think only one other table there the entire duration of our visit) so it was very quiet but I can see how it could be much louder given a full dining room. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the dining experience and our server, Colton, was even kind enough to give us some “local” tips as we are new to the area
Excellent food and service. The waiter was friendly and on point with recommendations.
As expected, the menu was diverse and exciting. The food preparation was superb. Paul, our waiter was responsive, helpful and friendly.
We have eaten at this restaurant before. This time we were not informed that the restaurant was under construction and that we would be eating in a hotel lobby instead. They had a menu of frozen cocktails that were not available to start. Everything else was eatable but we could have gotten a similar meal at another restaurant for half the price.
Outdoor dining was cold. They need heaters if they expect you to eat outdoors when the temps drop. Blankets helped but not enough.
Shelby was amazing
We were eating at the pool for dinner I think due to construction. Was very challenging for the servers to run the distance.
Currently renovating Powder, even though it has only been opened since June. Apparently a construction defect closed them down, except for pool side service only.
If they were transparent, they would let you know this in advance. But of course, that is not in their corporate culture. Too bad!
So, all F&B comes from a long ways away. The service component does their best with a bad situation.
I suggest passing on Powder until next spring.
Everyone we met was extremely friendly and professional. We celebrated our anniversary here and were very satisfied. I would highly suggest this restaurant to anyone.
A perfect night under the stars
The ambiance was excellent, and our server was clearly service-oriented. However, I canceled the second reservation I had made for this restaurant after returning home from this visit.
I ordered a breakfast sandwich that was twenty-something dollars, expecting a fantastic sandwich--that wasn't the case. The sandwich was only slightly better than average and sized the same as the typical, square, slice of bread we're all familiar with--the value definitely was not there.
The tea I ordered was served in a disposable cup and I didn't have anything on the table to put my teabag on after it had finished steeping (nor a spoon with which to remove the bag.) That seemed inconsistent with the swagger of the restaurant and certainly with the prices.
No doubt, Powder provides an inviting and enjoyable atmosphere, but I can't pay those prices until the food and service are commensurate with the prices.
The food is great - nothing at all to even nit pick with. The atmosphere is ok. Given that we all need to eat outdoors now and they were not set up for that (the tables are by the pool, which was in use when we there), I think they're doing the best they can on that front. The service was good, but I would have expected better given the prices. The prices are quite steep.
We arrived at the hotel and no valet could be found. We had to go in and ask the front desk for assistance. The hostess could not find our reservation and even after I showed her the reservation confirmation on my phone, she said that she just “added us in”. We were escorted to the outdoor pool area and seated at a table with no linens, no candles or ambient lighting and kids running around in wet bathing suits yelling “Marco, polo!” and nearly colliding with the waiters and waitresses carrying large trays of food/beverages. Thank god one of us brought our phones because we had to access the menu with a QR code. We had to ask for water; ask for a drink menu; and, ask for napkins/silverware. When we finally met our waiter, things improved, but when we asked for butter to go with our bread, we were given those little, hard pre-packaged butter pats - just not what we were expecting at all. Because we were being served by the pool (again, not what we were expecting) everything was served in plastic, including the wine. Overall, the food was good, but the ambience and service was bad and definitely not what you would expect at a luxury hotel restaurant. Table linens, table lighting/candles, better service and the absence of the “open swim mayhem” would have made this a better experience.
Lovely outdoor setting and the food was good but very, very expensive... $30 hamburgers! It is a Waldorf, but the limited menu did not give a lot of options.
Service was below a glacial pace.
Food only good, not exceptional.
I won’t return.
Can't actually comment on the food because we never got any. We arrived on time for a 7pm reservation. We were seated and water was delivered. When we asked for a wine list so we could order a bottle of wine, this seemed to throw the wait staff off. No one returned to take our order--no drinks, no appetizers or entrees. After 35 min of waiting we got up and left. The worst service I've had at a Park City restaurant ever.
Waldorf Astoria ambiance still being priced into the menu, but there is little ambiance in the COVID-19 outdoor seating.
Portions were respectable but only if you eat like a bird.
My halibut was quite undercooked, the center resembling sushi... at best.
Overall experience... meh.
Service was terrific and the setting outside was great. The 3 taco wraps for about $30 is not good value and the lettuce cup was so thin that it fell apart in your hands. Not a good value and food experience. This issue was mentioned but nothing was done to fix it or credit us.
The Duck Carbonara had a good taste and the shredded duck was very good. The Pancetta cubes were very tough to eat. Cut needs to be thinner so it is not so tough. Portion small for $34.
Overall cost was about $170 with tip including a $58 bottle of wine. Very expensive for a lunch. The one positive is the service. Don't change that but get the food and value fixed.
In these strange times, Powder and our server JD have worked hard and provide a great evening. While the venue has changed to poolside, there was little lost in terms of a pleasant night. This was our first visit here, but we were impressed with the quality of the food, the duck carbonara is now a new favorite. No loss at all in the food category. JD our server was not only efficient and caring in his service, but friendly and very personable, we felt like we got to know a new friend. We could list a couple of items that might have distressed us pre=Covid (tablecloths are not out of place poolside ), but it hardly seems appropriate when there is so much that they got right.
Service was excellent product was below average and selection was minimal
Food is okay, but expensive for what it is. Menu is really limited currently. In 3 visits over several week, each order was incorrect. Management was great about correctly the mistakes, but to have problems every time we've been is concerning.
Most underrated restaurant in PC. Always exceptional!
For the price we pay. We sat by the pool with tons of people and kids around. Was not the anniversary dinner we had in mind.
Reopened as Powder by the Pool, this favorite with locals and tourists hit it out of the park! New items on the menu include a lobster pasta and pomegranate oysters - both simply exquisite. The Chef here seems to have used the stay-at-home time adding creative item to an already unique menu. Well done. Service - always an attribute at Powder - remains attentive with a perfect balance of attention. The meal lasts longer with the distance to the kitchen but in the beautiful evening air, with a glass of Chardonnay at hand, I was grateful for the relaxed, unhurried pace. This was my birthday dinner, and the culinary highlight of this challenging year. Highly recommended.
Would have enjoyed the full dining experience but outside dining ( aka pool side ) was pleasant enough.
Duck pasta was amazing! I liked it better than the Wagu.
Delicious and attentive. powder is my new favorite park city restaurant.
Everything was excellent! We had the salmon and sea bass. All a la carte. Drinks are pricey - especially the $28 Manhattan. Would not take small children there.
Beautiful setting. Excellent quality of food and exquisite presentation. Service is supreme.
A casual environment with a delightful, yet managable menu
The hostess at this restaurant is clueless - she showed our part of 3 to a table for 6 in the back dining room which was empty before we told her we wanted one of the several vacant tables for 4 in the main bar/dining room. After we were seated, the same thing happened to another group that ended up next to us - it was rude and a little insulting to walk by empty tables and be shown to the back - probably wouldn't go there again with so many great options in PC that care about the customer experience ......
Nice dining room with view out to pool and terrace area.
Service a bit slow and took a long time to even get bread to our table. Three of us ordered the salmon and one ordered the duck. Salmon was good but a bit on the dry side (a comment from all of us).
There are many restaurants in Park City to choose from, while Powder is good just don't think it is great.
Valentina was wonderful !
