Posto Ratings and Reviews
We went into DC for a nice dinner. We past Posto and based on ambiance through the store front, decided to go in.
The setting is nice, service friendly but we found the food to be average at best, portions on the smaller side and really not all that creative. There are so many choices in the area. I'd suggest you try somewhere else.
When my dinner guest and I arrived, our table wasn't ready so we was asked to wait at the bar. My reservation was at 7 and we were seated by 7:30. Not a big deal but worth noting. The hostess was fine. Didn't offer us anything for the extra wait but smiled and was friendly enough. The table we were seated at was right next to a server's station and a cement pole. This was problematic because the entire evening different servers would hit my chair while trying to squeeze past a tiny space to get to the server station. It disrupted the meal several times and made it less enjoyable. Also, our waiter never smiled. He always seemed to be in a hurry and made dinner feel a little rushed. But his suggestions, when asked, were good and I appreciated his input. The food was delicious, but somewhat over priced. The appetizer we chose was the bruschetta and it was $12 for two pieces of bread with prosciutto on top. Okay? I did not think it was worth the money. However, the ravioli was excellent and my friend also thoroughly enjoyed her seafood pasta as well.
I would come back again but there is still a lot of room for improvement in the hospitality area.
Family in town and looking for a casual spot with great food and service. Posto was an easy choice and has been a favorite spot for years. Attentive service, a vibrant atmosphere, and wonderful food. Tried the steak for the first time - fantastic. The salmon was cooked to perfection. (The pasta is always good). Someone ordered the grilled lobster - smokey and very tasty (a smallish portion in the split-shell but really just the right amount). Highly recommend this place.
We had to wait 20 minutes for a table even thought we had opentable reservation and were waiting/drinking at the bar for 40 minutes after arriving early. The food was tasteless, I am not sure how Italian food can taste so bland. We read good reviews about the ravioli and tagliatelle but not impressed. Calamari was decent, cooked very differently than the usual crispy fried. Overall, I would not go again.
Four of us dined at Posto before going to Studio Theater. We all had something different - ravioli, tagliatelle, pizza and fish. All the dishes were well proportioned and well seasoned. The service was polite, timely and not intrusive. It's a great place to eat pre theater and anytime.
Going into the reservation I was excited to try this restaurant. When we arrived and saw the oven I was sure it would live up to my expectations. One of our appetizers was delivered and had strawberries instead of plums and we were not notified of the change. Upon consideration the manager took the appetizer off our bill which was nice.
We ordered a couple pizzas, soup, and grilled calamari. The calamari was excellent but the pizzas were not up to par. The crust was not nearly crisp enough for a true Neapolitan style ... very surprising considering the oven in house.
Ordered the margherita pizza...red sauce was sparse and too watery, also causing the crust to be too moist. Waiter said it was because of the type of cheese used, but I'm not convinced. This pizza could have been much better (if I ever go back, I wouldn't order it again). I would, however, still recommend Posto since my friend enjoyed his fish dish and since it's located just a few skips from Studio Theater.
Terrific, tasty dishes and attentive service. Would recommend not rushing the second course though - I think it came within 5 minutes of the clearing away of the first course, which took away from the experience and from the elegant menu offerings. Otherwise the dishes were all of perfect portions i.e. not designed to leave any for the doggy-bag, thank heavens.
Posto had some positive reviews with open table so gave it a try. We were able to get last minute reservations on a Saturday night. The wine list had a pretty good selection but I think the prices are a bit high. I had couple glasses of the Young Borolo and it complemented my pappardelle carrot pasta. The bread at the beginning of our meal was to die for and we asked for some extra and had to wait for the fresh batch to arrive. For entree we had the Calamares with the Asparagus and it was just delicious and done perfectly. Rabbit and boar ragout tasted good but then half way through you feel it was a little heavy and the my rabbit ragout texture was not great. Our Waiter Fadi was wonderful whereas the others-who served us the oil for the bread and water- were not professional and oil and water spilled outside the glass and plate and they did not even pay attention to clean or apologize and we had to clean the spills ourselves. Maybe some extra training is needed in that domain.
We think this is a great place to eat before a Studio Theater performance. Posto accepts reservations. Service is friendly, efficient and fast. Outside, on Friday night, there was chaos. Inside, at 6:30, we could converse with ease. Menu offers small plates and small pizzas in addition to regular entrees. Pasta carbonara very good and very rich.
Posto is a delight! We started out with the grilled calamari salad and the pomodori salad (heirloom tomatoes, beets and a whole lot more). Both salads were superb. I must say that I have never had such tender calamari. Our entrees were a grilled pork chop and the strip steak-both perfectly cooked. Our dessert was a trio of sorbets-all delicious. Posto is on our list for a return visit! We highly recommend it.
Posto remains our "go to" restaurant in Logan Circle. The food is always outstanding, and the service consistently good. We love the Insalata Del Posto, and get it almost every time we go. The pastas, seafood, fish and meat entrees are all outstanding. Chef Massimo is a master at keeping food simple but remarkably delicious. We recommend it to anyone who enjoys fine dining without an attitude.
There's a reason the place was empty on a Thursday night. Service was terrible, our server hardly ever checked on us. We had to flag the server down (or the manager) everytime we wanted anything. Quality of food has declined since I was last there a couple of years ago. I think it's having a hard time competing with all the new places on 14th.
I live in the 14th Street corridor and Posto is one of my most frequent go-to restaurants. The food is great, the service is attentive and the noise level is contained enough that you can have a conversation with your friends. For a quick bite, we will eat at the bar and chat with the bartender, and on a nice evening, we will take a take outside and watch the crowds go by. This is not another small plate venue or a bar scene restaurant and that is exactly why I like it!
A bad and uncaring waiter ruins what should be a good dining experience. Getting orders wrong and accusing customer of being wrong. Not listening when told of a time issue due to theater. Having to get up to get waiter's attention. All examples of bad service which leaves a bad taste.
