Post Oak Grill Ratings and Reviews
Food and atmosphere was great. The service was slow. The restaurant was not crowded or big parties at lunch time. The wait staff was courteous. But took a while to get the check and the waiter to return to take our payment. Not someone one should go if on a time schedule.
Poorly organized reservation and table management + indifferent/unfriendly staff + out dated/tacky decor + horrible tables & arrangement/crowded walkspace + buffet that was not grand with COLD food + a buffet that wasn't advertised + crappy service = NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND NOR GO TO THIS TRAGIC MESS OF A RESTAURANT. Yuck!
We had reservations for 1:30 but due to large volume of patrons, we ended up waiting another 25 minutes before we got seated. The waiting/seating area is tight so it was cramped with people waiting, leaving, and entering. Once we sat down, the service was nice and the food delectable.
I always enjoy the food at the Post Oak Grill; however, service on my latest visit was unacceptable. I was the only customer in the restaurant. It seems that all of the attention was focused on setting up for Thanksgiving dinner on the next day. I was ignored for some time. My presence seemed to have been an inconvenience.
We have been a few times at Post Oak Grill and we always enjoy our visit. Food is delicious and service excellent. We will keep coming back for sure.
This time we tried the Houston Restaurant Week menu and all 3 of us were very happy we did. One comment though is hold yourself on the very tasty bread and butter at the beginning so that you can make it all the way to dessert (mmmmm!!).
Thank you for a great dinner experience, again!
We had not been to Post Oak Grill in years and decided to select it for our Houston Restaurants Weeks choice because of the menu. All the food was delicious - the salmon, duck, oysters, shrimp, salad, ribeye, flounder, bisque, cocktails, wine, dessert - everything. The portions were generous and the price very reasonable. So glad we chose this restaurant and will definitely go back at 'a regular time'.
Goof food and attentive service, quiet dining room. The Dining Menu is somewhat limited but foods are very tasty and have great presentation. We will be back for more, highly recommended.
We had much better fine dining experience compare to B&B Butcher Steakhouse which I regretted every dime I spent there (non-existence service and borderline Steak grilling skills and Management did even bother to follow up on feed back left).
The restaurant was hard to find from the iPhone GPS. The Asian gentlemen in the front of the building was extremely rude and lacked hospitality and didn't have any concern for what I was trying to convey. First place I have been that's been 1/2 empty
that you wait 10 minutes for a menu. The restaurant was dated and looks like the glory days have long passed and great service was a thing of the past. Please reevaluate the restaurant week menu and establish a management presence on the floor and train the the front of the house staff on proper phone etiquette and skills. The restaurant has invest in a Galleria billboard but not training for the staff that interacts with the most important part of the restaurant the customer
Shelly & I went to dinner at Post Oak Grill before heading to House of Blues Houston to see Jackie Venson & Los Lonely Boys.
For dinner, we both chose to order from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. They first start you off with a nice basket of breads with herb butter & chicken liver pate. For appetizers, she selected the Hoisin Glazed Baby Lamb Lollipop with Gnocchi Mint Infusion. I went with the Chipotle Honey Glazed Jumbo Shrimp over Grilled Polenta. At first I was a little disappointed with the small size of these dishes. As the meal went on, the less it seemed to matter. For $35 & 4 courses, this is a steal!
For our 2nd course, we both decided on the Roasted Lobster Crab Bisque with Cognac Essence. This soup was decent. I've had better & worse elsewhere.
Third course, she again copied me, as we both ordered the Earth & Sea (Sliced Prime Beef Tenderloin Medallion & Lobster, Jumbo Asparagus and White Cheddar Potatoes, Finished with a Pomegranate Sherry Sauce). This was the highlight of the meal. We both cleaned our plates. I used the last biscuit to sop up the remaining sauce.
Now to the sweetest part of the meal, dessert. My wife loves surprises, so naturally she wanted the Surprise Trio Dessert. Our waiter, Armando asked if she wanted to know the surprise. She declined, "What's the fun in that?😋" I went with the Bananas Foster with Cajeta Vanilla Homemade Ice Cream. While it was tasty, I was sad to see that the ice cream was already melting.
In closing, it was a perfect meal capped off by a great concert!
Some restaurants put on their best face during Houston Restaurant Weeks, showcasing their culinary prowess. Others treat it like a coupon offering, with the food being at the lowest common denominator. Not having been to Post Oak Grill in years, I decided to use HRW as a reason to return. Unfortunately, Post Oak Grill fell into the coupon-offering category, serving mediocre and forgettable food. We have so many other incredible restaurant choices in Houston that I will not return to this one.
Really liked this restaurant before but we haven't been back for more than a year. So I took my family out for Houston restaurant week and we all agreed that the quality of the overall experience has gone down hill. Food quality and service are not as expected from fine dining restaurant. Such a disappointment because we did have great experiences from dining with Post Oak Grill multiple occasions before .
We went as part of HRW, as the menu selections looked inviting. We were not disappointed. Everything we ordered was beautifuly plated, and tasted delicious! We chose several of the seafood entrees and appetizers and found the fish fresh, and perfectly cooked. The sauces paired well, and did not overwhelm the fish. The service was attentive, but not rushed. The "wines by the glass" selection was good. We will definitely return!
