Post Oak Grill
We were enticed to come to Post Oak Grill tonight due to the promise of its 30 year anniversary celebratory dinner replete with the promise of live music and a fancy pre fixe menu. To our utter surprise, when we arrived for our 7:30p reservation, we were the only table in the entire restaurant. We actually thought we had the wrong night! Granted, there were people in the bar area watching the Astros game, but the overall vibe in the restaurant was more akin to a mortuary than to a celebration. There was no live music, there were no other people in the restaurant for the entire 2 hour dinner, there was no ambiance. I was actually sad. That being said, the food was good. However, my chateaubriand (which was said on the menu to be “prepared” table-side) came out from the kitchen as one giant lump of beef. Normally, the meat is delivered and sliced table-side for a special presentation. I had to send the beef back to the kitchen to have it sliced before I could eat it which delayed my husband’s dinner. Unfortunately, Post Oak Grill’s idea of presenting the chateaubriand table side has all of the charm of a smile with the two front teeth missing. Obviously, as the only table in the restaurant, the service was good. What else did the waiters have to do? As I departed, I was left wondering , not if Post Oak Grill would see another 30 years in business, but if they’d see another 30 days.
I had not been to Post Oak Grill in a couple of years. The food is as good as I remember it. The service is outstanding. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Great experience.
Ambiance is always good, and waiters were attentive to all of our needs. Food was particularly good. I look forward to my next meal there.
We did the HRW menu. Everything was delicious, drinks were tasty and our server Jose was awesome!
Excellent in every way! We enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu and were delighted with 4 courses for $35
I invited some friends of mine to try the Houston restaurant week special. Dinner went okay, but several days later I was shocked to discover that the staff had added their own tip to my payment despite me tipping in cash. This is fraudulent and unacceptable, and falls below the standard of service I’ve come to expect from what was once my favorite restaurant. I’m never patronizing this business again and will continue to warn anyone that will listen.
Visited for HRW, the portions were mediocre, the food was sub par. We waited forever to place an order and to get drinks. Food was not timed appropriately, waiter let us know they ran out of lobster, shrimp replacement. We were not offered to change our order or anything. The waiter never asked us if everything was ok, if the food was good, if we had what we needed, no refill on tea until asked. Slow service, took two and a half hours. Crowded space we were 1 foot away from each table on each side. The waiters had to ask one person at our table to get up multiple times so they could walk by to the next table. Will not be returning.
We were there for HOUSTON Restaurants Weeks, the service was extremely slow in the bar area. I waitress rarely came to the table the check in, unless it was to drop off our food and drinks, which took an extremely long time. Ambiance was nice, maybe it was an off night
Awesome service, great food. Will definitely frequent The Post Oak Grill again soon
I had never been to Post Oak Grill, went & took advantage of HRW. We ordered the surf & turf, & the snapper. Both dishes were very good. We would definitely go back again.
Best value of all the restaurants participating with the Houston Restaurants Weeks! Delicious food, excellent service. Loved it!
HRW menu was of great value and good sampling of their regular menu. While everything was tasty there was nothing spectacular that wowed us. Cocktails were very good, though. So probably will return for their happy hour and also for everyday dining.
Disappointed with the service and quality of food.
Went for Houston Restaurant Week. Food was mediocre and the portions were minuscule. The worst service ever at a nice restaurant. Not only were we seated 20 minutes late but it was another 2 hours and 20 minutes before we finished. This was the 2nd time we've been there; won't be back.
Waited 25 minutes after reservation time to be seated
We have eaten here many times and the food, as usual, was outstanding. The service however was not what I am accustomed to from Post Oak Grill. We had eight people at our table and six were given water. We had to go seek out a water pitcher and ended up leaving it on our table as the glasses were rarely refilled by staff. When it came to ordering cocktails, four of us gave our order and the waitress disappeared. I had wanted to order an entire bottle of Pinot Grigio as one of my guests had ordered a single glass and I figured that we would drink an entire bottle or two throughout our meal as well as some red wine. I did end up ordering a bottle but when I wanted another, there were none left of that type.
I do plan to return at some point but hope the service will be better.
Great service, atmosphere, and delicious food.
Nice band playing lovely usic to dance to.
The food and service was phenomenal!
We were very disappointed. The courses didn’t arrive together. There was a 5 to 18 minute lag time for our 4 entrees. We may have had a new server because the timing was way off.
This meal and ambiance was truly wonderful! Tablecloths and covered chairs, attentive service and serene ambiance all added to the dining experience. The Houston Restaurant Week menu was extensive and four courses which is generally unheard of. Great wine offerings and did I mention delicious food! We all tried different appetizers, entrees, soup or salad and desserts. We all were enchanted.
Always good - thanks for not keeping your air conditioning so low so as to "freeze us out".
The food was delicious. The only complaint was the side dishes were not hot which would have made the meals perfect.
Service and Food quality was excellent. Quantity was quite small for all courses. Possibly the smallest piece of cheesecake I have ever seen!
Loved the ambience of everything. Food was okay, some dishes were great, others we didn’t touch. Could be because it was during Houston Restaurant Week?
Service was good and we enjoyed the evening. Not in a rush to come back.
One of the best restaurant. Food is consistently good. Very few in the Galleries area that still offers three course restaurant week lunch.
We celebrated my friend’s 59th birthday.
The service was excellent and the food wasn't bad. Visited for restaurant weeks and was excited to check it out. The main course was seriously lacking and it left me disappointed.
very very disappointed we had a reservation, got there on time were seated and waited 20 minutes before we left because we did not get served, not even acknowledgement from a server, no water no menus nothing. we watched 3 other couples come in after us and were served right away. when we left we explained the problem to a server and not even a sorry was given no effort to make things right nothing. NOT at all what I expected from a place with this reputation.
Always wanted to try this place as it is walking distance for me. The food is very average.
I have not been to the Post Oak Grill in a long time. The food was excellent, the restaurant is beautiful and the service was amazing. I would definitely recommend this for dinner.
Awful experience. It took them 15 min just to serve us water and bring us a menu. Then we asked for a steak to be medium rare. It came out well done. Throughout the meal, our water glasses remained empty for 15 min 2x. They stuck us in the back wine room. The room echos and they also seated a large birthday party in there as well. We couldn’t even hear each other.
Excellent presentation and taste
Truly enjoyed the service given by Vicenté.
Great promo for the food month! Your menu is the new mark that other restautrant needed to follow. Will come back and try the other option next week.
We went for Houston restaurant weeks. Loved it.
Great food, atmosphere and service. The dishes were inconsistent. All of my party ordered the same entree but we had varied amounts of food. I had two green beans while another had three yet another half a plate full.
The food was not bad.Had restaurant week. For the price not bad for 4 course. Main entree was definitely the best.
I noted it was a first date in the reservation and they put us in an intimate back room that was very quiet and the perfect setting.
Special seating, great service, good food - what else can one ask for? POG is consistently great.
