Overcrowded. Standing room only. Had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, with a reservation. Cleared my table myself by taking dirty dishes to the bar. Drink never refilled, nor was I asked if I wanted a refill. Waiter walked around socializing with the customers instead of servicing us Food was mediocre. Very dissatisfied
I rarely write reviews. The only reason I’m doing this is to protect my neighbors from this restaurant. There is good reason why you rarely, if ever hear people discussing Post Oak Grill. The service, food quality, facilities are atrocious. For the same price and in the same area you have dozens of superior options.
Food was fabulous as always. Our waiter was very attentove and helpful. We enjoyed ou lunch.
We had a wonderful Easter meal. Their buffet had a wide variety of foods that appealed to both of us. We’ve been to Post Oak Grill before and they never disappoint.
Didn’t know it was Latin night. I would have dress for the occasion. Latin band was great and the food was good. It was nice place to take my GF out for her birthday and she love dancing too.
Nice and quiet during our visit. Everyone was wearing masks and the food was delicious
my go to place for business lunch. The best.
Very good service. The food was very nice. My wife and I were just visiting Houston and enjoyed the experience.
As usual Chef Polo provided a fantastic lunch! Great atmosphere, pleasant service and a tasty lunch! You can't beat it for the location and price! Go see Chef Polo today!
Tragically, this Houston institution has fallen on hard times. They had a C rated band playing in the bar at 7 p.m.. The band was so loud, it filled the dining room. However, the manager refused, I asked twice, to turn off the recorded music being fed into the dining room. So as we tried to enjoy our dinner, we had soft jazz music and a bad cover band ringing in our ears. Suddenly, I realized why most of the tables were empty at 7 on a Friday night. The food was good except the sauted spinach was inedible. So long Post Oak Grill...you have had a great run but it won't be long before you will have to shut your doors...and don't blame CoVid, who ever is in charge has no idea how to run a fine dining establishment.
Pretty good for the most part wld def recommend to a friend
This place was very nice & the food was good they have a lounge to dance
Wasn’t able to get a table
I had to rate food in order to complete the review, and I gave it a 3 star. Since I didn't actually eat, this rating may have been generous or may have been less than it deserved. The overall rating was based on the experience.
I had an 8 o'clock reservation, and when I arrived on time there were a lot of people waiting. I announced myself to the host, and rather than verifying my reservation, he proceeded to write my name on a piece of paper, asking me multiple times to repeat my name. I reiterated, that I had a reservation. Unfazed, he continued to write. When I asked him why he was writing my name, as I had a reservation, he responded that they were behind. I asked how long I would have to wait, and he responded probably 45 minutes, which based on the number of people waiting, seemed optimistic. I told him that wouldn't work. As I turned to leave, he again asked for my name, even though he had just written it down.
We left and went to Joyce’s Seafood and Steaks, where we had a delicious meal. It had been a while since I had been to the Post Oak Grill, and my memories weren't bad, but they weren't good enough to accept being waitlisted, when I had a reservation.
The place was overbooked. However, they had some great employees that made the experience worth while. If they get their act together, I would definitely recommend this place.
miserable because old people kept yelling about covid 19 and we reserved a table for 8 and never got sat
I have worked in restaurants and steak houses my whole life… And I can honestly say this was probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I think the restaurant made a mistake by not closing off their open table reservations because they were extremely overbooked. We did not even get seated till an hour and a half after our reservation. I don’t know if management just doesn’t know to close off open table reservations when they are hitting their reservation limit but that’s restaurant management 101 especially in ‘fine dining’. When we showed up the hostess said 45 minute wait, we went out to our car for a minute and called to let them know we were just stepping outside and the hostess literally told us we probably won’t even get a table, She was all over the place and seemed like she genuinely had no idea what was going on. I asked to speak to a manager which she said none were on property. On a Valentines weekend Saturday night there’s no managers on property? Again what kind of management is that? That is probably one of the busiest nights a year and there is no managers on property? We finally got seated at a table, a drunk Man stumbled by and started slurring some thing to someone. We thought he was an intoxicated patron and he turned out to be someone who was in charge that told them to seat us in a different room. The food was terrible, it took us another 35 minutes to even get menus and order a drink, I had to go ask the hostess for menus and the server. they forgot to give us one of our courses I realized after we left, and at the very end of the kitchen staff got in an actual fight yelling ‘F you’ to each other. It was actually Comical how terrible this experience was.
Even with reservations, we waited over an hour. Seems they overbooked and patrons stayed longer than expected. We could get beyond this, but the food was not good. We both chose the Valentine’s Day fixed menu. The lobster bisque was fair, the entree of beef and shrimp was bland, and the chocolate mousse was just awful. The key lime pie was good. Over not a good first impression.
The owner has to have something going on. He was walking around all might with no mask. Not helping his staff at all. His host’s were struggling hard with no tables available. No reservation system in place. They main host was on his 2nd day of work and had no assistance. People were yelling at him right and left and where was the owner? Who knows! No staff member could find him. The servers were having to keep coming over and calming down the people that had been waiting for hours. When we finally got seated an hour after our reservation our waiter, I believe his name was Fuentes, was incredibly nice apologized about the weight and then was very prompt in every part of our meal. All the other staff members that we spoke with were incredibly nice. I can’t believe the owner of the restaurant didn’t care enough to pay attention to where the problems were and be available. We will not be coming back not to do the food quality or staffing but purely because the owner is ignorant of what is going on in his restaurant
We had reservations for me and my wife at for 7:15. We got there at 7: 05. There was a line outside waiting We had to wait for 45 minutes and still there was no table for us. Finally we got tired and left. Messed up our whole evening. But we will try again sometime.
The experience was not goo;
Went for Valentine's Dinner on Sat night. Absolutely worse experience we have ever encountered. Nothing went right - not a single thing. Started with hostess saying we have no reservations (showed her our Open Table Confirmation). Another guy said ok no problem we'll seat you. Took us to a 2 seater table (we were 3) one foot from the very loud DJ speaker. Refused to take it and demanded sitting at another table for 3 people 30 ft away (didn't really matter for noise.) Menus took 15 min, drinks ordered and took 25 min, food ordered and took 65 min (yes over an hour). Very understaffed, no courtesy by waiters or host people (worst and least trained I have ever met). Room temperature was so cold, 4 parties had to leave to their cars and some came back with thick coats. Meanwhile, 8 other parties were led to the same table they tried to seat us at, and they either left (3 parties walked by us and said they were leaving) or just went back to other tables and sat down without asking permission. How embarrassing for the restaurant owner and staff and its reputation. Finally two ladies were seated there, and lasted 15 min and got up and left very unhappy. Point is, the staff had no clue how to treat or read customers. Food was average in quality. After an hour of waiting for main entrée, waiter comes back to say to my son the ribeye was out...so he ordered the filet instead. Well the check came back at the end charging us for both the ribeye he never received and the filet. and so on and so forth...we were so relieved to be out of that place....check; will never go back! Diner be ware!
Excellent service and delicious food. Drinks are great.
The food was delicious and it was a great value for the portions they gave. The rainbow trout was cooked to perfection with yummy sides. The service was fantastic. I was surprised this place wasn't packed. Overall a great experience for a nice night out while on vacation
It was COLD inside the restaurant. Our waiter was not all there either.
Very nice service and awesome food! Couldn’t have asked for a better night of food and celebration!
We had a very nice dinner at Post Oak Grill. Service from the valet to the waiters to the bus staff was top notch. The ambiance was on the quiet side, and we know the place would normally be rocking with Christmas parties if not for COVID. The crab cake appetizer, wedge salad, and lollipop lamb were all exceptional. The surf and turf, and our three layer chocolate cake dessert were average. Post Oak Grill has always been a classy place, and our first time back in many years did not disappoint. All in all it was a very nice meal, and we look forward to coming back.
They could have used a few more waiters.
Thanksgiving here was delightful. We had a tasty meal, complete with all the usual fare, plus great selection of other entrees. The flounder was done to perfection. Enough variety for everyone. Desserts were just awesome. Service was attentive and prompt. Highly recommend it! Plan to make this one of my go to places.
Everything was fine except the Ribeye steak. Wanted medium rare and 1st one was closer to medium well. 2nd one wasn't much better unfortunately.
Post Oak Grill always hits a homerun! I invited some friends that had never been to the POG and they loved it! Chef Polo always provides great off menu specials! 5 Stars!
Their food is always delicious and different than anywhere else! Service is outstanding.
Vicente was great went for Houston restaurant week and food was presentable and tasty
service was slow but due to the events of the world--I understand. Keep up the good work
Our large group dined during restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food and service were excellent. Arrive early to enjoy a drink in the bar area before your meal!
Our waiter was excellent and the food was fantastic. Had the crab crusted flounder. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for foodies.
Food was good but took too long to get. Waiter was terrible. No ambiance whatsoever. Wouldn’t go back...
The service was amazing and the food was really good. I enjoyed my dinner immensely. Every server greeted me and that was so nice .
Superb food and outstanding service in a relaxed setting.
We went for the Houston Restaurant weeks menu and really enjoyed our evening!
Our server was so accommodating and really took care of us. I had the surf and turf and it was cooked to perfection. We will certainly return to the Post Oak Grill !!!
