Located conveniently in downtown Ardmore, Positano features the most authentic Southern Italian dining this side of the Mediterranean
Join us for dining under the stars on our terrace, or in one of our three cozy and candlelit dining rooms. We offer an extensive list of daily specials, as well as a full bar and wine list.
Great place to get together with a group of friends. Good food, good wine. Everyone seemed to like the experience.
Two of the diners ordered chicken parmesan, and the chicken was tough and skimpy. A salmon entree was good. Other entrees were just OK. The waiter seemed rushed. I don't recommend this restaurant.
Very disappointed in the restaurant. This is our second time here and I thought maybe my first time was just a bad night. However, I should have read the reviews. I have been to Italy 8 times so I would say this is not true Italian food however, most are not. The service is poor and they are not very attentive to needs such as water re-fills. My wife's chicken was so overcooked it was not tender. My Veal was rare inside when I asked for medium well. I know Medium well is not recommend but it was actually cold inside. I waited for about 10-15 min before I actually could get his attention and then he seemed insulted when I told him I wanted it cooked medium at least. No apology or anything at all to me. Tiramisu was not very good either. I would say if you are in the area and want to eat and your hopes are not high it might be ok. However, dont make a special trip or expect a rated restaurant like the name implies.
Excellent Christmas Eve dinner, the food was great, broncino fish and the swordfish were outstanding. The Octopus salad and bacalla salad were very delicious. It was an excellent experience and our server, Christopher, was friendly, funny, attentive, well verse... a total delight.
My favorite Main Line restaurant and favorite wait person, Rosie!
Our waiter was a bit busy and service was a bit slow. He was attentive and a efficient, but a little overwhelmed. Food was nice but pricey.
Decent Italian food with inattentive staff. Waited for check for 20 minutes, then asked for it, then after another 10 minutes had to walk to the front to ask for it. No water refills. Late drinks after reminding the staff. Service is what really impacted our experience.
cynical waiter, food was good but expensive for what it was-$20 for pasta with peas!
Enjoyable time after just back from Positano in Italy (swoon). Great food and server (sorry forget his name) was very courteous and attentive. Nice wine selection. Give it a go! Great location too.
Very strange restaurant. If you love veal and shrimp, but no other options, you are set.
Excellent dinner. The food was great, specially the broccoli rabe and sausage and also the doversole.
Place looked absolutely amazing, was all ready to have a special dinner out for my anniversary. Atmosphere was wonderful and the service was good, but the food was strangely tasteless. Maybe we went on a bad night, but it was an expensive restaurant price for cafeteria quality food.
HORRIFIC! This is actually the first time I’m ever writing a review... it was bad enough that I want to make sure no one else has this experience. It was for my mothers birthday - I made reservations for my family to go out. I took a cake with me to surprise her. They brought bread to the table - we asked for the bread to be heated up, they said they could t do that but they offered garlic bread. We ordered our meals - no one liked the bland food. MOST IMPORTANTLY - my mom started choking - she pull out a piece of aluminum from the back of her throat. We were then told it was a bristle from the chef cleaning the grill and that it’s rare for this to happen!!! Then the manager came out to apologize and said I understand you have a cake for a bday is that correct...?!?! I let him know he ruined the surprise!! The did us a “favor” and did not charge for my moms meal. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!!!
The food was excellent, albeit very expensive (and unnecessarily so). The wait staff was curt and indifferent. There are other fine restaurants in the vacinity that serve Italian food. I see no particular reason to return to this establishment.
Very good food!
Everything was great. Really enjoyed my dinner.
Waiter was very slow; had trouble with basic orders
We were not impressed with the food. The restaurant has a tile floor and they use a metal cart to deliver food to tables creating a very loud rattle from the kitchen.
I remembered this restaurant being delicious but I guess I overestimated. Oh well...
My husband and I were there for the Ardmore Restaurant week. The food was delicious. Price was affordable for a three-course meal. The desserts were really good.
Food was okay. A bit overpriced. I got shrimp linguini which is a pretty basic dish.
There are so many italian restaurants in this region that a place w/ okay food is not worth the trouble.
We recently dined at Positano Ristorante in Ardmore. Had a great meal. Started off with mussels marinara that was full of flavor. The homemade bread dipped in the mussel sauce was awesome. Our dinners arrived promptly. My wife and I both had the Dover Sole that was served in a lemon butter caper sauce. The fish was filleted table side. The entree was served with some fresh vegetables as well. We also picked out a nice bottle of Italian wine from the extensive wine list. All in all we had a delightful meal and will certainly go back again.
The waiter was a bit surly at first but then warmed up to us and was great. The food was very good as was the wine, and the outside patio is an oasis.
The food was amazing and the staff impeccable. It was so nice to have dinner and catch up with friends and be able to actually talk and hear each other. They give a good wine pour too!
Positano was very pleasant and the style of the rooms reminiscent of Italy. Wonderful pasta and risotto and @ memorable bottle of Italian wine. The waiter was a little odd in his conversation and overall expensive, but we enjoyed the 3vening.
This was my second visit to Positano this time with family visiting from CA and MS. The fact that I brought first timers illustrates my confidence in Positano’s. We were not disappointed. Service was excellent, ambiance was perfect for us and dinner was very good. The indoor parking lot across the street is a great convience.
Outstanding meal with great service. Our first time back in several years. Definitely will return again and soon.
The food and service are excellent, as indeed they were at every previous visit to Positano. One challenge not previously encountered was parking. Parking in the Ardmore area that evening was extremely limited. I ended up having to park 3 blocks away and dropping off my dining companion, who is unable to walk that distance due to a back injury, at the door.
great service but limited menu. what we go tasted good
Food was lousy.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this restriction at all.
went for a pre Mother's day dinner with guests from Pittsburgh. Food was delicious, service was horrible.
Food was excellent! The service was great. Will definitely go back!!! I would 100% recommended to a friend. Great ambience and very nice decorated. I felt like I was sitting in a restaurant in Italy!!
My favorite restaurant on the Main Line. Great service. Thanks, Rosie!
We started out meal with great homemade crispy bread. My husband had a veal chop which was tender and juicy. I had the scallops that were so fresh and loaded with flavor. We also had broccoli rabe that was seasoned perfectly. All in all we had a delicious meal with great service. What a special neighborhood gem.
Not crowded but very noisy...table next to us was very, very loud and the staff did nothing to accommodate other customers.
Ok for a quite bite if feeing lazy to cook at home. However, not authentic by any means. We ordered gnocchi and got rochetti, ordered bolognese and got meat sauce (probably just crumbled meatballs in the red sauce). Dinner rolls were hard and very dense. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, server was nice enough and food came quickly, however, I don’t think it made up for the quality of food.
The waiter was wonderful. He gave us wine recommendations. He had amusing stories which entertained, while he also gave us space to enjoy ourselves. The food was delicious. I especially liked the meatballs. My main course was Tortellini Bolonese. It was delicious and just right. My five companions enjoyed themselves, as well.
I felt that the portion was very small and not worth price
