We recently dined at Positano Ristorante in Ardmore. Had a great meal. Started off with mussels marinara that was full of flavor. The homemade bread dipped in the mussel sauce was awesome. Our dinners arrived promptly. My wife and I both had the Dover Sole that was served in a lemon butter caper sauce. The fish was filleted table side. The entree was served with some fresh vegetables as well. We also picked out a nice bottle of Italian wine from the extensive wine list. All in all we had a delightful meal and will certainly go back again.
The waiter was a bit surly at first but then warmed up to us and was great. The food was very good as was the wine, and the outside patio is an oasis.
The food was amazing and the staff impeccable. It was so nice to have dinner and catch up with friends and be able to actually talk and hear each other. They give a good wine pour too!
Positano was very pleasant and the style of the rooms reminiscent of Italy. Wonderful pasta and risotto and @ memorable bottle of Italian wine. The waiter was a little odd in his conversation and overall expensive, but we enjoyed the 3vening.
This was my second visit to Positano this time with family visiting from CA and MS. The fact that I brought first timers illustrates my confidence in Positano’s. We were not disappointed. Service was excellent, ambiance was perfect for us and dinner was very good. The indoor parking lot across the street is a great convience.
Outstanding meal with great service. Our first time back in several years. Definitely will return again and soon.
The food and service are excellent, as indeed they were at every previous visit to Positano. One challenge not previously encountered was parking. Parking in the Ardmore area that evening was extremely limited. I ended up having to park 3 blocks away and dropping off my dining companion, who is unable to walk that distance due to a back injury, at the door.
great service but limited menu. what we go tasted good
Food was lousy.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this restriction at all.
went for a pre Mother's day dinner with guests from Pittsburgh. Food was delicious, service was horrible.
Food was excellent! The service was great. Will definitely go back!!! I would 100% recommended to a friend. Great ambience and very nice decorated. I felt like I was sitting in a restaurant in Italy!!
My favorite restaurant on the Main Line. Great service. Thanks, Rosie!
We started out meal with great homemade crispy bread. My husband had a veal chop which was tender and juicy. I had the scallops that were so fresh and loaded with flavor. We also had broccoli rabe that was seasoned perfectly. All in all we had a delicious meal with great service. What a special neighborhood gem.
Not crowded but very noisy...table next to us was very, very loud and the staff did nothing to accommodate other customers.
Ok for a quite bite if feeing lazy to cook at home. However, not authentic by any means. We ordered gnocchi and got rochetti, ordered bolognese and got meat sauce (probably just crumbled meatballs in the red sauce). Dinner rolls were hard and very dense. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, server was nice enough and food came quickly, however, I don’t think it made up for the quality of food.
The waiter was wonderful. He gave us wine recommendations. He had amusing stories which entertained, while he also gave us space to enjoy ourselves. The food was delicious. I especially liked the meatballs. My main course was Tortellini Bolonese. It was delicious and just right. My five companions enjoyed themselves, as well.
I felt that the portion was very small and not worth price
waiter friendly and nice - kitchen a bit slow - good value
We had to ask for everything; bread water etc. there were only 4 tables occupied with 3 waitresses and no one paid attention,
I was happy with the venue, and with the menu. Unfortunately, my entree was cold when it was set down, and I could not get my waitresses attention to warm it.
Valentines Day. Nice ambience. Understaffed which was surprising since all the tables were reservations. The server was hurried throughout. Never spent more than 30 seconds at our table. And almost threw the dishes onto the table. The food was OK but a little disappointing given the occasion and prices. Lobster capellini had a tiny dried out lobster tail and tiny shrimp (that looked like the ones frozen in a bag from Costco) on store bought pasta. The porcini ravioli in a cream sauce that my wife ordered were better.
I had such high hopes! Came here with my mother to celebrate her 88th birthday. Service was terrible (barely saw our waiter and when we did, he was running so I'm assuming they were horribly under staffed; appetizer came with entree; never saw waiter after entree was served until we asked for the bill twice from the hostess and wasn't greeted at the table for at least 15 minutes after we arrived) and the food was worse! Ordered the caprise salad - no flavor, two slices of tomato cut in half and zero presentation; calamari and clams in what was supposed to be a garlic white wine sauce and was a flavorless broth with tasteless calamari and clams; swordfish and mixed vegetables with lemon and capers that again had no presentation and was subpar at best.
I think the worst part was when we told the hostess AND our server that we were having an awful experience and NEITHER had any reaction!
We will never go back and will tell everyone we know of this horrible experience!
even though it was Valentine 's day evening and the restaurant was packed the food was delicious. The only negative was that they had only one (overworked) waiter to take care of the whole room
I had the most unbelievable dinner and I’d love this restaurant. The brand Zeno was unbelievable and my fillet table table side and the grilled calamari was incredible. There is no better italion restaurant on the east coast of America
Positano could be great if the menu was ramped up. It's such a great space, but the he food is average and it's a tad pricey for what you get. I love the homemade bread with balsamic and olive oil. Just wish they would have the " to die for " house special.
Always excellent. Never a bad meal or service. Best veal chop ever.
Love this place! The food is delicious!
We ( party of 3) enjoyed our evening at Positano. Our waiter was attentive, and when we asked for a special appetizer (a large plate of charcuterie) to share, he was happy to oblige. We each ordered a small portion of the pasta with mixed seafood and found that it was more than ample. We did not feel hurried, and we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal with coffee and good conversation. We would return!
We expected a lot better quality food and the prices that appeared online seemed to be somewhat lower than what they were in reality. Also the restaurant was basically empty and the bread was cold. I was born and raised in Italy and the food definitely did not live up to the standard. Would not recommend.
The food was very good, as were the menu choices. However, we were seated in a dark corner and could not read the menu. There was a candle, but it was not enough. The service was also slow.
I had an unbelievable meal at Positano Ristorante. The bread, which must be freshly baked by the chef, was very good especially dipped into the olive oil. My salad was great and the Dover sole, which was filet at the table side, was delicious.
We were there for a special occasion, it was a great night and I can't wait to go back.
Everything was great
The decor was beautiful and the service was excellent. I definitely recommend Positano Ristorante .
We were seated right away and out waiter was so kind! We ordered our food so we could share and he brought everything in two separate plates. We will definitely go back!
Although our waiter Chris was unique and a little hard of hearing he did a great job!
Our food was served promptly and hot
Definitely will go back
Had a great time Went on restaurant week everything was delicious had salman very moist very delicious service excellence will go back again
Absolutely fabulous! The food was delish and the specials menu is rewritten every day by the owners so you can have a new experience every time you go. The service was amazing my waiter was so attentive! It's definite must go restaurant.
This was great for Date Night. Very quiet and great service. I would return for another opportunity to dine here.
I don't normally write reviews but I was really bummed out about this place. Disclaimer: we went for restaurant week. However, the restaurant week menu had regular menu items on it.
When we got there we were seated near a window. It was pretty warm inside. I was sweating. It seemed as if the air was not turned on. This is summertime when the temperature reaches 90+, a little air would have been nice.
I ordered a glass of white wine. It was $10 and a very light pour.
We ordered the apps. They came out and were very good. The next was the main course.
We ordered the shrimp scampi white and the chicken parm. Both of these are on the regular menu. The chicken parm looked good but the chicken was very chewy. It was a very weird texture. It tasted fine, just was odd to eat. The shrimp scampi was not great. It was pretty much spaghetti with butter with some little shrimp on top. The shrimp looked like the kind you get pre packaged and frozen at the grocery store. I enjoy dipping my bread in the sauce of the dish but I could not do that with the scampi.
Lastly our desert came out. We ordered tiramisu and lemoncello cake. They came out and both looked exactly alike, lady fingers and some custard between the layers. The only difference was that the tiramisu was sprinkled with cocoa powder and the lemoncello was sprinkled with a lemon dust. Both tasted store bought.
The whole meal was $100 including tip. This was not $100 meal.
Although the food was lacking, the service was very good. The waiters were quick, refilled our glasses, and were very nice.
If you like old school style and good food, Positano is great. The food was wonderful the restaurant itself has old school charm.
Will be back next time we back in town.
