Positano Coast by Aldo Lamberti Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent. The server started out strong but when the apps came out disappeared. Our second round of drinks didn’t show up until we were almost done with the main course. After dinner the server was very attentive for dessert and to drop off the check.
I had dinner three evenings in a row at Positano Coast (Jan 30,31 and Feb 1) and has the same menu servings each night. I was very pleased overall and was very happy to rediscover Positano Coast as an essential "wonderful place to eat" in our neighborhood. Everything works from beginning to end, including the request for the reservation confirmation. We were never rushed and and never not attended to.
We went here for Restaurant Week and where deeply disappointed and didn't find it worth the 20 dollar lunch. We had poor service where with the changing dessert selection, the server didn't tell us what it was, we overheard him telling another table after they asked that it was Panna Cotta and Tiramisu. All of the food was very medicore, it just wasn't as good as we were expected. It seems like it would be a fun place to get a drinks in the summer but we wouldn't go back for the food. The drinks weren't good enough to come back for either.
Came during restaurant week, the service was quite mediocre. Our server didn't know even the basics like bringing water or knowing when to bring out check. Even when we gave him our card right as he handed us the check, it still took 20 min for him to come back. I understand it was restaurant week but we came at an early time--there were still a lot of empty tables by the time we ended.
The food was absolutely delicious. Their saving grace.
The place itself was a bit toned down than what the images online appear to be but that was ok I love the splashes of blue on the walls
Positano Coast usually is excellent. On this visit, I take a few points off as it wasn't up to standards. Service was okay, but waitress always seemed in a rush with every interaction. I had the branzino special (outstanding). My wife had the branzino filet on the menu (it was poor - over cooked). The cauliflower fritti also was excellent.
This was our third trip and the food was great. We had the lemon and artichoke soup and the calamari to start. Both excellent. The main courses were good although my wifes veggies were cold. She had the Mahi mahi and I had the seafood risotto. We finished it off with the cheesecake. All in all an excellent meal (besides the cold broccoli) and a good spot before the show.
Typically avoid dining out on NYE, seldom best representation of an establishment. Positano was very good.
Accommodated our early arrival after fireworks. Valet was courteous, professional, and a welcome service on frigid night.
Service friendly, lots of eager staff. Cocktails excellent. Starters excellent, SALADS and entrees very good and well priced.
Will return for tipsy tiramisu, as I was too full for dessert....
Despite having reservations we were seated next to the bar in a closed in outside porch with space heaters as opposed to the main dining area. Overall the food was okay, but nothing special. I had the short ribs as an entre and they were seriously under seasoned. Not at all what I expected. My date and I both had glasses of wine from a nice but limited wine list that was way overpriced. That was a factor in our decision to not stay and have after dinner drinks at the bar. Overall the food was so-so and the experience was overpriced for the value.
Food was fantastic and the menu was ever changing and inventive. BUT.....
Our waiter explained zero about the menu and answered our questions with a head cocked confused look following up with a one word answer or a head nod.
He brought my wife wine in a small carafe but didn't pour it. Brought me a bottled beer with no glass. Never even asked how we liked our meal. BTW the drinks were the only thing he actually brought to our table and he half assed that. Did not expect that from this place. We ate in 4 courses and enjoyed each one albeit a little rushed. We were not asked if we would like to look at a dessert menu. So we never had it, so we sadly cant give a review that aspect of the meal.
Not a good experience for anytime let alone being dressed our best and on new years eve 2017.
Early NYE family dinner. Our server was very nice, attentive and professional. Food was very good to excellent. Appetizer of grilled octopus was surprisingly good. But Etta was also great with butternut squash cubes and quinoa (almost undetectable). Scallop entree was “best ever”. Short ribs good but not raves about and the lamb was good but less flavorful than expected. A side of Brüssel sprouts, usually good anywhere, we’re bland and the pancetta was soggy, more like boiled ham.
Desserts were amazing. The Nutella crepes were perfect with an excellent hazelnut gelato. Chocolate gelato was also great with a more unusual chocolate flavor that was delicious.
All in all, this was a good experience. Child friendly (a children’s room it appeared) and chicken and fries were available.
Best of all was the location and ease of getting to the fireworks at Pena’s Landing.
I went on a date here and there happened to be a rehearsal dinner going on as well. They were so obnoxiously loud that no one could hear their dinner partners. I was disappointed that the staff did not say anything to them or even bother to address the issue.
We arrived at 7:35, had reservations at 7:45, but were not seated until after 8:20. Then another 10 minutes before the waiter approached the table. From there, things changed for the better.
Cold food came out cold, hot food was hot, and all came promptly. The wine too.
So they must have overbooked because of the Christmas holiday, I get it. However a little more attention to us up front would have been nice.
Our waitperson took forever and never showed up. Another waitier did and apologized for the issue. I appreciated the waiter's move.
We order 3 items to share and the Mussels were recommendd by the waiter after he told us they were "plump"
While the other 2 items were excellent(Diver Scallops and a Tuna Ceviche) the Mussels were terrible.
We advised the waiter and he took the Mussels away.
When I gt the bill there wasn't even an adjustment and further there was no offer for a dessert or a replacement, nothing.
I frequent good restaurants 2-4 times a week, so I am no stranger to the scene.
This is not an issue of monetary value, it's one that speaks volume about how the venue disregards the patron.
Very disappointed,. I will not return
