About

This restaurant is permanently closed. "World-class executive chef Michael LaPlaca gives an unforgettable modern twist to classic Italian foods.

From the hand-made pasta to the finest imported ingredients to the dozens of fine wines, you'll get a true taste of Italy right on the Strip. Reflecting the quaint, beautiful and wealthy Italian village it's named after, Portofino is tucked away from all the casino noise, offering large leather booths, beautiful marble, vintage wood fixtures and Tuscan-style chandeliers. The white linen cloths and rustic Italian decor brings you close to the old world while dim lighting and classical music create an intimate, romantic atmosphere. From the Burrata Agnolotti handmade with simple ingredients and prepared to order to the Crab Cake Arancini fusing the traditional Arancini rice ball and Maryland-style crab cake, it's no wonder Portofino has been highly-praised by Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas Magazine, Trip Advisor and Open Table."

We had Christmas Eve dinner here, and my wife, 14 year-old daughter, and I loved the laid-back atmosphere at this comfortable Italian restaurant. The cocktail, meals, desserts, and service that we received were outstanding. We felt relaxed and completely satisfied with our dining experience when we left the restaurant. It was a wonderful night before Christmas at this restaurant, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a great dinner out. My family and I look forward to going back soon!

Service was good food nit that great. The focaccia bread that was brought to the table was dried out and hard. When it was time to pay our bill ,we asked it to be charged to our room like we always do.. Our service said that was not possible and that we had to pay with a credit card.So we did.But thinking that it was strange we spoke to restaurant manager and asked why that was and he advised us that we could charge it to our room and didn't know why we were told that.He wanted to reverse the charges but we couldn't be bothered because we would have to wait for 5 days for the charges to drop off the credit card. We lost out on points on our mlife due to the server. He should have inquired when we were adamant with him about having it chrged to our room.We will not be back and food was not worth the price .It was expensive.

We were seated promptly. We ordered a glass of wine, very nice. The waiter told us about the specials. We decided upon one of the specials, lobster ravioli. It came in a HEAVY cream sauce, the waitress indicated it was light. You could not taste the lobster at all. The pasta was made fresh that day. It was good, not outstanding! I couldn’t taste the difference between Trader Joe’s and this!

I will not be returning.

Service was pretty bad. Thought they comped us a bottle of wine to make up for the poor showing, but ended up charging us after they remembered highlighting their incompetence. Do yourself a favor and don’t go here.

My wife and I were looking for a great place to unwind, be us and just enjoy the night...Portofino has all that and then some! The Staff was amazing! We decided to have a cocktail before dinner and the bartender Raul was top notch! His recommendations we're spot on...and as far as the food...5 star worthy! Portofino is now a staple for me in Las Vegas!

Excellent food. Micheal Le Blanc is the finest chef ever. Wish I had the recipe for lobster ravioli dish. My husband had the stuffed chicken signature dinner. It was the best meal we have ever had. The bread was delious. The wait staff was top notch! Like having 3 people waiting on u. Worth every penny! Will definitely make this a regular stop when in Vegas!

Food is amazing, venue is stunning! Over all a perfect experience, most definitely the best restaurant in Las Vegas.

We chose to have dinner at Portofino based on the menu displayed on their website.
After we were seated we learned that the entrees we saw on line and wanted to order were not available. As it was too late to go elsewhere before the Terry Fator show, we stayed and ordered entrees that were not what we came to Portofino to enjoy. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Our server was very nice, and the quality of the food that we had was good, but we do not feel that it is fair to show a menu on line that is not what is actually available. If you are considering having dinner at Portofino we suggest you call an inquire as to what will be offered the night you plan to have dinner there.

The best italian restaurant in Vegas in our humble opinion. The wait staff, kitchen and general manager do a great job in service and food. We would recommend Portofino, even if it is tucked far away in a corner of the Mirage. Try it, you'll like! :)

An attractive and cozy restaurant with a very limited menu. On the evening when we went, they only had eight entrees and were out of one of them (which they neglected to mention until we ordered). Overall the food was good but not spectacular, we had meatballs and gnocchi as appetizers, the gnocchi were the better of the two. For entrees we had Osso bucco, scallops and branzino. The osso bucco was quite good, tender with a rich gravy and a little acidity. The branzino was a bit dry and the skin was soggy. The scallops were cooked properly but had little flavor.

Very nice atmosphere and quiet enough to speak to each other. Elegant. For starters we shared a beet salad. I'm not a beet lover but the choice of golden beets made the salad really excellent. For entrees we had the veal Pacino and the Burrata Agnolotti. We live in New England near the ocean so normally not inclined to order lobster in the desert, but the lady at the table next to us spoke about this entre as "life changing". After eye rolling, we figured try it. The lobster was truly fantastic. Mouth watering. The veal was almost as good and was enormous. Sad that we couldn't take a doggy bag. One of the best parts was the manager, Chris. Very very helpful. As sommelier, really exceptional. Not just a "red wine with meat" guy but analyzed the spices and flavors in out accompanying items, recommending just the right wines. Well done.

The house specialty burrata agnolotti with lobster was so creamy and decadent, I would go back just for that. The grilled octopus was also very well cooked, some of the best I've ever had.

After wading through the throngs of people, on the strip, and the noise of the casino slots, the Portofino is a welcome refuge.
Tucked away in the corner of the Mirage is an elegant and quiet get away.
Our waiter was excellent (as were the rest of the staff). He explained each meal with his recommendations of the favorites.
My wife ordered the Burrata Agnolotti & I, the Chiocken Rollatini Parmesan.
The Burrata was a rich, but not overly rich or heavy, creamy dish with just the right amount of lobster that wasn't overbearing. Excellent!!
The Chicken Rollatini was a rolled breast with a chicken sausage inside with a very nice and smooth marinara sauce. Very tasty.
The only thing I would suggest is to serve the bread warm. Minor detail as the bread was still excellent.
There are very few restaurants we repeat but the Portofino is on the definite 'again' list!
I can't wait, to try some of the other dishes, on my next trip.

This was clearly an outstanding dining experience and just as clearly chef Michael LaPlaca has created a menu that is both creative and modern yet somehow comforting. The "crab cake"arancini is not to be missed. If you are thinking tiny balls of risotto and crab deep fried--you will be disappointed. But if you think delicate crab cake with lemon saffron risotto and a pesto aioli then rejoice at each bite. Chef LaPlaca has taken the already exhalted burrata to new heights in his burrata agnolotti with lobster and chanterelle mushrooms in a roasted corn butter. This is lick your plate outstanding! If italian sausage is high on your list then by all means order the ripatelli--a delicate pasta with housemade sausage and peppers, and broccolini. Veal is given several outstanding renditions--osso buco and even a pounded cutlet turned into a comforting parmesan. The osso buco is done perfectly--with bone marrow and the always needed accent of gremolata. It could not have been more tender. If you like veal parmesan it is unlikely you will taste a better one. If you have room for dessert--then my choice was tiramisu--and it was among the best. I must also mention our waiter Rocco--professional, knowledgeable, charming---our entire dining experience was truly enhanced by his attentiveness to our needs, his friendly yet professional manner and his clear joy in recommending the menu's outstanding choices.

Considering we dined early, service was lacking. We hardly saw our server and when asked to see a vegetarian menu, it was basically thrown at me. I ended up ordering the Caesar salad and my friend the calamari (appetizer) and the lobster special for dinner. Although everything tasted good, the dining experience was disappointing. There are too many other places on the Strip so we recommend going elsewhere. As with any Italian restaurant, you pay too much for what you get .

Lovely dinner. Excellent food. We had an appetizer of ravioli and lobster in a corn butter. Delicious. It would have been too rich as a whole meal so we were delighted with the appetizer. I had a wonderful sea bass with fresh tomato sauce, artichokes and olives. My husband had the Osso bucco. He thoroughly enjoyed it although it wasn't a very large serving. Others had mentioned the fact that if you didn't order wine the service was lacking. This is definitely true. You could obviously see it from where we were sitting. Order wine, they will fawn all over you. Don't, and you'll have a very private dinner.
