Great place for a romantic dinner with nice atmosphere.
Great dinner. Always consistently delightful food and experience. Will continue to return next time in Lexington.
Portofino's is one restaurant in Lexington that can be counted on for consistently good food and service. My visit this past Saturday evening was no exception.
One of our favorite go-to places. We can always count on a friendly welcome, excellent food and service, and great parking (a real plus).
Excelente’ Food was great and atmosphere was nice. Friendly and helpful staff!
Wonderful Easter luncheon
Food and service was very good. I suggest you go with servers reccomendations.
Great food, service, and environment.
This restaurant has been operating in Lexington in the same location for a good number of years and is viewed very positively by the locals, including me. The food leans toward Italian, but there are also other good continental options on the menu. The chefs are very good about keeping popular items on the menu, but also frequently add new items, so that there's always a good range of choices.
The wait staff is very knowledgeable and will go over the dishes in great detail after delivering the menus. They can also answer most every question about the food, and if they don't know the answer, they'll seek it out from someone that knows.
For Lexington, it's a little pricey, but you can get some good mains for around $20, with more elaborate dishes costing well into the $30 range. The setting is very nice with art filled walls from some of the Bluegrass area's finest. It's also one of the better restaurants downtown if you want to be able to hear the people you're dining with. Additionally, they have a nice outdoor patio, one of the best in the downtown area in the spring - fall months.
Food was cold unseasoned n we were very unhappy not the portifino I remember bummer
Another outstanding meal and experience at Portofinos! Food and service was outstanding! We entertained family from out of town and they couldn’t say enough about how they enjoyed the evening!!
Food and drink service from the beginning delivered slow. Food cold and had to be sent back. Has to ask twice for appetizer. Wait staff disappeared for long periods of time. Offered free dessert because of issues in food delivery but ask for coffee and never delivered. Always some issue at this restaurant. Last straw and will not return again with all the other great options in Lexington.
We had an excellent meal at Portofinos in Lexington, KY. The food was excellent and service was outstanding. Highly recommended for white tablecloth dining.
This was a Valentine's day dinner for my wife and me. It was our first time at Portofino's. After an hour-and-a-half, we still had not received our entrees. We left, making sure to pay for the appetizers and drinks we had. I asked the hostess what the reason was that things were so long in coming, and she said that their had been an unusually large crowd and that the kitchen staff had had trouble keeping up. She did offer to give us the drinks and appetizers for free, but that is against my principles. Still, it was a tremendously disappointing experience. My wife and I aren't able to get out for dinner often. It makes us feel very reluctant to ever return to Portofino's.
Our dinner was amazing! We had the Veal Marsala Meatballs and the Tiger Shrimp and Scallops Buccatini. Only complaint is how small amount of meat and cheese on the ham and cheese plate. Wasn't worth the price.
Great Food Rib eye and Chicken were remarkable
Made a reservation to celebrate Valentine's day weekend with my very special lady. Wonderful ambiance, great table... although there is not a bad one in the house. Expansive wine list, terrific menu. We opted to start with a nice cheeses and meats offering with a tasty white wine to start. We shared a rib eye special and the Atlantic salmon dishes for dinner. Everything was exceptional. Our waiter was perfect, the meal wonderful. Definite repeat.
My girlfriend and I went to Portifino for our Valentines Day dinner. The ambiance was perfect. Our server Dean went out of his way to make our first Valentines Date together extremely memorable and personal. The service was outstanding although the food pricing was a bit high for the quality we received. Overall, I would certainly recommend this to a friend looking to celebrate a special occasion.
Would not recommend. Have tried Portofino twice now and had terrible experiences both times. The first time my partner and I felt like we were rushed from beginning to end. Our last reservation was at 8:15 and we had serious concerns that we would be rushed again seeing as the kitchen closed at 10.
First, we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated in an outside area. Then we were seated in a room downstairs that is clearly what they use for private parties. We were the first ones in there until 3 other couples joined us. My first two options for a meal weren’t available, and my partner and I went 15 minutes 3 separate times waiting for our waitress to fill our empty wine glasses!! A pretty simple task...
The biggest issue was that it took 1 hour and 30 minutes for our main meal to reach us. I would be more forgiving if it was 6:30/7, and peak dining time. However, it was nearing 10pm. I went upstairs from our dungeon to find someone to complain to and couldn’t find anyone!! Not a server, manager, hostess, no one. Also, my partner ordered rare steak and I had ravioli, things which should NOT take 1 hr and 30 mins to get to the table after 8:40pm. When our meal finally came, we told the waitress we wanted our check as by now we realized it would take her 15-20 minutes to complete any regular task.
The best part was that all 3 couples who arrived up to 20 minutes after us, were served food before us. They had different servers, and that seemed to be why. Our waitress seemed to just not be with it, or it was her first day waitressing ever. She never apologized for her awful service, or picked up on the fact that maybe we might be ticked off that this was the third time we had to wait for her for 15 minutes to refill our glasses. Occasionally she would come down into this room and we would try to get her attention, only for her to evade eye contact and rush out the room.
Terrible experience on so many fronts. Don’t waste your money here. The food isn’t even worth it
One of my favorites in Lexington. Great food and great service in an upscale atmosphere.
Our favorite place. Staff and service beyond professional. They go above and beyond. Food is outstanding. 5 star
Food was amazing! The veal meatballs are a must! Service was some of the best I've had since moving to Lexington over a year ago. Perfect atmosphere for a date as it is quite and elegant.
Long waits for drinks, food, etc. Not a criticism as it was nice to have a long, relaxed 2 hour meal. Just an observation. No quick dining. Great food and atmosphere, though.
SO NICE TO BE BACK AT PORTOFINO'S....FORGOT HOW REALLY GREAT IT IS!!!
PORTOFINOS WILL SEE US BACK AGAIN, SOON!!!!
My husband and I had a very nice meal. Portions were large and food was very good. Definitely get the brushetta as an appetizer, it was delicious!
You all treated us great! Thanks for making everything o smoothly and cutting up food.
The food was great, the service was outstanding and it is just a wonderful place to dine.
The evening was perfect. I think we got the best table in the house. The waitress was excellent! The food was outstanding. My husband and I both ordered fish and both were cooked to perfection. The ambiance was also perfect. It turned out to be the perfect place to celebrate a birthday.
Mistake made in two orders, but corrected, plus dessert given by waiter because of error. Food was good, drink prices steep.
The food was bland, severely overpriced for what was plated, and the service was really slow. We were there nearly two hours and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We will definitely not be back.
I believe that i had the best lasagna ever!! It was delish, we had a party of 4 and everyone loved it
We were seated in a very nice quiet area and could actually have a conversation without the music blaring! Our waiter Tom was excellent and took very good care of us.
Very nice, high quality restaurant for an excellent meal, especially for a special occasion.
Made reservation thru open table, wasn't really needed and was seated early. When making the reservations noted it was for an anniversary dinner. No mention of it from the restaurant and nobody seemed to care. Just another customer paying for over priced food. This is the kind of place people go to eat to feel like they are special within society, like a first class passenger on an airplane when in reality you're not royalty.
Made a reservation for a birthday dinner. Was given a booth near entrance. Once seated, the hostess dropped a glass from our table. Oops. Server came, but didn't seem to pay attention to what we ordered. Appetizer never came and when asked, response was simply, "Well, I guess it never made it to my ears." Food was very greasy and presentation was not impressive. For the price charged, expectation was higher in terms of quality.
A special place. Food was good but the bourbon list and service was amazing. For the wine list I expected more weird and wonderful options from Italy by the glass.
An excellent experience from start to finish, beginning with a great appetizer, followed by entree and dessert. Appreciated the wine recommendation, too. Super ambience. Great service.
Great hospitality, excellent food and service. Will definitely return. Wonderful to see owner's presence.
Portofino never disappoints. Wonderful ambience, quality food, great service. It remains my favorite restaurant for a special evening.
I like the Resturant however we went on New Years Eve. It wasn’t crowded and we sat in a new area and it was so cold I couldn’t enjoy my dinner. The food was ok. I’ve had better there. Just wasn’t a fine dining experience. Thank you
