The food, as always, was amazing and flavorful - Trevor made our experience even better with -his positive attitude and wonderful personality. It was our anniversary and it was a treat driving from Louisville for a nice dinner and an overnight. We are never disappointed with Portofino's.
Caesar salad did not have enough dressing. Mussels did not have enough flavor. Lasagna with meat sauce was creamy and the portion was decent. Grilled bread was semi carbon on one side with no toasting on the other. Service was a bit slow. Dining on the patio was very nice. The planters and flower boxes were a nice touch.
Brought a candidate for a prestigious position with the University there after a full day of interviews on campus. Our waiter was barely present at all, didn't ask about dessert or coffee until he asked to bag our food and bring our check. Very off putting and disappointing
Great food and service!! One of our favorite places in Lexington
It’s a fine place with good food.
We love this place, we always after a movie or to celebrate one of my friends birthday.
We were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary, and had enjoyed a nice lunch at Portofino a few months ago, so we decided to have a go at dinner. We are glad we did! Ambience, food and service were excellent. We’ll be back!
Portofino is always in our conversation about where to dine. Food always good and interesting specials and we always leave room to split a dessert. You can’t go wrong there.
We had a family dinner, my daughter was home from college. The food was terrific. Trevor was our waiter. Good kid and very attentive. Loved it.
As always, Wayne Masterman and his crew do a great job.
Quality of food was very good, though the portion size of the appetizer was disappointing for the cost. Entree portion sizes were reasonable. Our waitress was somewhat attentive. We waited quite a long time for everything. I realize their food is prepared fresh, but thought the entrees in particular took way too long to arrrive (and no, the restaurant wasn’t overly busy.) Am not sure I would be anxious to return.
We had a horrible experience at Portofino. They asked if we would be willing to move outside and we did. They placed in a table in the back in direct sunlight. Of course they had no umbrellas to block the blazing sun. Our server took her time and many times would disappear for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Our food took way to long to be served. I ordered the tuna (rare). After waiting over 45 minutes between our salads and dinner; my tuna was served over cooked. When I showed it to the server, she was anything but understanding. After taking my plate back to the kitchen she returned 1 minute later with a new plate and well over cooked tuna. When she finally returned over 15 minutes later and saw my plate with most of the tuna on it; she never asked how it was. I don't think she really cared. Nor did a manager ever come over to our table. I've been to Portofino before and really liked it. Was this a one-time bad experience? I don't know. Be careful; if you go there.
Portofino’s is always a treat, but this night, particularly so! We sat in the bar area by the doors to the beautiful patio, where it was sunny and warm. The seafood special, grouper over a lobster pasta was AMAZING!!! Wow! One of my favorite meals ever! Thank you!
Celebrating sons graduation for U.K. we all loved the atmosphere and the food was very good. Our waitress was excellent from the wine recommendation, to her knowledge of the menu items.
Awesome food, service as always. Never disappoints. One of our very favorites in Lexington!
Great table location. It was a rather high amount of noise.
Had to wait forever for entree.
Too cold in restaurant.
The meal was excellent. Our server was one of the best we've ever had anywhere.
Perfect for our anniversary
Love Portofino’s for excellent food, great wine list and had the usual great service! Our favorite Lexyington restaurant.
The food was outstanding. Finer dining without all the arrogance. Service was very friendly, but on a fine dining timeline. Had to rush eating for a show even though we explained our timing up front. But the server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Can not recommend enough.
Waitress failed to understand that my friends and I wanted to pay for our food individual on the check. She instead divided the total by the number of people within the group.
Food was amazing and loved the ambience.
ate there a few years ago and had a good experience, in town for last day of keeneland meet and went for dinner after races. wait staff was slow at all points of the dinner, and kitchen even slower, including a wait of about 45 minutes between salad and entree. low point of dinner was when waiter, after dishes were cleared from table, bringing out the side dish of brussel sprouts which had been forgotten. Quality of food was subpar. At no point did anyone stop over to check in recognizing the in-process poor experience....as we left, I shared my disappointment with the manager of both the experience and the lack of any awareness by the staff or management.....the manager appeared only mildly interested and offered a half-hearted apology. I will not be back....
We were in Lexington for a girls trip staying at the Griffin Gate. We had reservations at Portofino's and it was great. Our table was ready and the food and drinks were excellent. I highly recommend it.
Excellent service! Always enjoy our dates there! The bruchetta is wonderful, can't be beat. The service is always just attentive enough without being bothersome and the food is very good.
Great place for a romantic dinner with nice atmosphere.
Great dinner. Always consistently delightful food and experience. Will continue to return next time in Lexington.
Portofino's is one restaurant in Lexington that can be counted on for consistently good food and service. My visit this past Saturday evening was no exception.
One of our favorite go-to places. We can always count on a friendly welcome, excellent food and service, and great parking (a real plus).
Excelente’ Food was great and atmosphere was nice. Friendly and helpful staff!
Wonderful Easter luncheon
Food and service was very good. I suggest you go with servers reccomendations.
Great food, service, and environment.
This restaurant has been operating in Lexington in the same location for a good number of years and is viewed very positively by the locals, including me. The food leans toward Italian, but there are also other good continental options on the menu. The chefs are very good about keeping popular items on the menu, but also frequently add new items, so that there's always a good range of choices.
The wait staff is very knowledgeable and will go over the dishes in great detail after delivering the menus. They can also answer most every question about the food, and if they don't know the answer, they'll seek it out from someone that knows.
For Lexington, it's a little pricey, but you can get some good mains for around $20, with more elaborate dishes costing well into the $30 range. The setting is very nice with art filled walls from some of the Bluegrass area's finest. It's also one of the better restaurants downtown if you want to be able to hear the people you're dining with. Additionally, they have a nice outdoor patio, one of the best in the downtown area in the spring - fall months.
Food was cold unseasoned n we were very unhappy not the portifino I remember bummer
Another outstanding meal and experience at Portofinos! Food and service was outstanding! We entertained family from out of town and they couldn’t say enough about how they enjoyed the evening!!
Food and drink service from the beginning delivered slow. Food cold and had to be sent back. Has to ask twice for appetizer. Wait staff disappeared for long periods of time. Offered free dessert because of issues in food delivery but ask for coffee and never delivered. Always some issue at this restaurant. Last straw and will not return again with all the other great options in Lexington.
We had an excellent meal at Portofinos in Lexington, KY. The food was excellent and service was outstanding. Highly recommended for white tablecloth dining.
This was a Valentine's day dinner for my wife and me. It was our first time at Portofino's. After an hour-and-a-half, we still had not received our entrees. We left, making sure to pay for the appetizers and drinks we had. I asked the hostess what the reason was that things were so long in coming, and she said that their had been an unusually large crowd and that the kitchen staff had had trouble keeping up. She did offer to give us the drinks and appetizers for free, but that is against my principles. Still, it was a tremendously disappointing experience. My wife and I aren't able to get out for dinner often. It makes us feel very reluctant to ever return to Portofino's.
