We had a wonderful meal! Food was delicious and service was great!
Great restaurant - food is fabulous and service is better!
Service meal and wine were very mice
A charming place which is a little hard to find but has its own parking. Our reservation was at 8 and we were seated promptly. Our dinner partners were driving in from out of town and somehow thought Lexington was Central time so they didn't show up till 9. The staff could not have been more accommodating, no looks, no comments, they just keep checking back at appropriate intervals. We believe even the owner stopped by to discuss the wine we had selected and how he had visited the winery in Italy. Once our partners arrived again the service was superb, no rush, just as if everyone had arrived on time. We had the Baked Brie and Toasted Ciabatta appetizer, delicious. Our friends shared a Cesar Salad and my wife and I shared the Goat Cheese and Apple salad. For our main course everyone had the Risotto of the day along with our meat of choice. Perfectly prepared risotto and mine included six nice size shrimp, more food than I could eat. I would definitely go back the next time we are in Lexington.
It is always a pleasure and a highlight of our trip to Lexington each Spring and Fall for the Keeneland races to visit Portofino's. The food, service, ambiance are incomparable, and it's especially nice to see the owner, Wayne Masterman, when we visit. Wayne is what makes Portofino's one of the finest restaurants in the Lexington area......a very gracious host, paying attention to details, making you feel welcome, and there's always new additions to the menu, like the warm brie w/toasted ciabatta.......absolutely delicious, and always an excellent selection of wines.
Looking forward to our next visit in the Fall!
The food was so delicious, and the service was very good. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
Excellent setting, excellent service and outstanding food!!
Great service and restaurant. Food was good but rather bland.
The food was not good. Over $30 for shrimp Alfredo and there was hardly any shrimp and very bland. The chicken Parmesan had so much sauce you couldn’t taste much else and very little chicken.
Our entrees were very good
Did not like ir
The service was impeccable. The food truly Italian and very good. We had a lovely time at Portofinos.
Great night! Large selection of wine and drinks. Menu is smaller than other places but every dish is quality. Large pasta, meats, and seafood options. They also had a great fixed menu- 3 courses for $33 and you can substitute a glass of house wine for one of the courses. Would recommend!
Excellent service and great food
Portofino is a local Lexington gem. My brother-in-law was in town, so we decided to go to Portofino for nice dinner. Our waiter (Jay) was terrific and the food was outstanding. We had the scallops and salmon. Both were perfect. I highly recommend Portofino!!
Always consistent with delivering warm service within a welcoming environment that’s vibrant yet still very relaxing. Explore any dish and you can’t go wrong. With our visit, my quest was traveling in from abroad and it left us arriving late in the evening - despite it being near closing, they didn’t miss a beat. The meal was wonderful as has always been my experience, and in fact despite the late hour we were still left feeling very welcomed and not rushed whatsoever...they welcomed us like good friends in their own home.
Always a good choice. Cheers!
It was a nice place but waaayy over priced. I had the short ribs, which was the special. That was good. My husband had the sea bass. It was terrible! Over cooked and chewy. We shared my plate, which was more than enough for us. It was just OK. No WOW factor for the price we paid.
Went before game at Rupp. Good time good food good company.
Portofino is one of my favorite restaurants. They always have great food and specials that change. Relaxing place to enjoy an evening if you want or quick if you need to go somewhere after. They are also open on Sunday and Monday when many good restaurants are closed.
The food was good but we were catching up with friends and felt a bit rushed . It was a Sunday night but they seemed happy to see us leave at 9:30 . A bit off putting and does not make you want to rush back
Haven't been here in years. Always love the restaurant itself. Food has always been good. Slow service. Had a 7:30 reservation. seated right away. Ordered drinks and looked at menu. Ordered before 8:00 and didn't get food until 9:00. took forever to get check and pay it after eating.
the hostess was kind enough to seat this old lady in a quiet room. I was visiting with my children and was ableto hear them . Great
As always wonderful food, big wine list and bourbon list. Service was great and will go back!
Food was excellent but service was terrible..Slow at bringing food and getting the check. On top of that we had a party of 6,tip added to check that was max tip.Bad business!
We were in town for a wedding and the host of our Airbnb had recommended this restaurant so we gave it a shot. It didn't seem very busy for a Friday night, so we weren't sure how it would go, but our meal was excellent from start to finish. Two of the people in our party shared the mussels appetizer which was HUGE and they raved about it. Our dishes varied but the hit was the risotto special of the night. We can't complain about anything we sampled and everyone was satisfied with their dinner choices. Service was good, however there was a period where we felt it was just a little too slow, but nothing that would prevent us from returning. Overall a great dining experience for us.
This is an outstanding restaurant. Wayne Masterman is a great host, the staff is very attentive and personable, and the food is outstanding. It is a must do when in Lexington.
Hadn't been in several years - it was just as good as I remembered. You really can't go wrong here.
Menu was iffy as far as selection. I ordered the chicken parmesean and I got an extremely small piece of chicken on a bed of some kind of pasta I have never seen before which was terrible. Chicken parm should be about the chicken NOT THE PASTA. Location is not convenient to Rupp Arena, and even the entrance is not where you would think it should be based on the building it is in. Quite simply we won't return.
Our food took a long time to arrive and was not very hot.
The food is good, but the entire experience is better. The tables are nicely arranged and not too close with no side by side tables for two and shared seats. Quiet. Able to have a nice conversation. Lighting nice. Service excellent. Courses nicely spaced and we did not feel hurried. Also no one was grabbing our plates before we were ready as if they needed the dishes like so many servers do. It was a very relaxed and lovely evening.
Always love Portafinos!!! Mr. Masterson has a great team!
I had the beef tenderloin medialian. One of best steaks I’ve had in Lexington in awhile. Better than the last steak I had at Malone’s
Wonderful Valentine’s Day venue. There was a wonderful wine selection and the atmosphere was amazing as well. The service was personal and very well mannered. The food was slower than expected to make its way out to the table, but my date and I did not mind considering we were there for each other and not solely there for food. My food was a little cold, but my date’s food was perfectly made. I would definitely recomend this venue for entertaining, especially if the purpose is to impress the other people in your party.
Filet was ordered medium and came out well done. Ordered calamari appetizer extra crispy and was
Definitely not even close to crispy.
Service was great.
Great food and service was excellent. Drinks were
Great. Restaurant was clean. We will be back soon.
We eat here a couple of times per year, usually for special occasions. This visit was Valentine’s Day. Dining room, early evening visit. Server was doubling as bartender. Slow on drink refills; a real pet-peeve. Should be either/or, not both. Given the entree price, would have assumed a side item or salad/soup would have been included (not the case). Usually the owner circulates the dining room checking on patrons. Saw him, but no such visit. Lots of competition coming. Hope they’ll up their game.
Valentine’s Day was a success due to the perfection of Portofino
We had a lovely dinner, and the service was good up to a point. After dinner, we asked for the drink menu. It was delivered, and we selected after dinner drinks, but the waitress had disappeared. We waited for a while (at least 15 minutes), thinking she was tied up with another table, but after a while we gave up, paid the bill and left.
It made a nice evening end on an unpleasant note.
Very nice place for a special date night. Excellent atmosphere, excellent food and excellent service. We are, and will continue to be, repeat customers.
The food was good, but the ravioli was a tad overpriced. The appetizer and main course were hot and good portioned, but it took 20 minutes to get the bill
