I ordered the Ribeye steak dinner. I was not pleased with the taste of the mashed potatoes . I also did not appreciate being sat next to the kitchen. This restaurant is average with average service and above avergage menu you are paying for the view that's all. I wouldn't recommend.

We dined at Portland City Grill at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. Didn't know there was parking that can be verified until the waiter told us. The view was nice at the 30th floor. We reserved 2 months in advance for a birthday dinner. It's weird how they don't reserve window seating but I find it weird how there were several empty seats near the window as we sat down somewhere else. Pricing was alright, each plate had a strong taste besides the Peking duck and chicken. They did forget to add birthday decorations on our table and I had to remind a waiter as I saw other tables already had it set up before arriving. Overall a good environment, very confusing with all the moving in and checking in.

Our first time to Portland and we decided to try this restaurant...we enjoyed our meal immensely! Our crab and prawn appetizer was delicious! The wagyu and boneless rib eye were so delicious, we ate them up! Service was excellent! View was the best! Everything was great!

I was both disappointed and satisfied with dining at Portland City Grill.
Two downsides:
1. upon making dinner reservations for our 10th anniversary I requested a window seat, only to find after completing the reservation that PCG doesn't honor seating requests and that they are first come first served;
2. upon entering the restaurant there is no guidance as where to check in, since there are at least 2 check in points and no-one is around to assist.

After a short wait to be seated, after declining to wait & drink at the bar for at least an hour until a window seat would became available, staff did make sure to congratulate us on our anniversary. Wait staff was helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable.
The wine list contains many local wines, and the options for food were great as well. As far as quality goes, it does not rank among the great steak houses, but it's close. It is clear that the main attraction for dining at PCG is the view.
All in all, we'd still recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes good steak, good wines, and a view of downtown Portland.
We will probably not return; our search for a comparable steakhouse in the PDX area to Cabernet (in Alpharetta, GA) is still on.

Great food, great views, great service. 3 of us went, and all agreed every course was amazing. My personal opinion they have the best steaks in Portland. And no doubt the best views. Service was great and fantastic wine selection. All you can ask for in a restaurant.

We dined there for a special occasion. Unfortunately, it took a quite a long time to get our starters (soups and salad). The halibut dishes a few of us ordered were dry and overcooked. For the price, I expect better food and better timing of first course. It's just ok, not a good value for what you get.

I always enjoy taking friends and family to Portland City Grill to celebrate special occasions and to see the fabulous view from the 30th floor. Underground parking is convenient and validated. The standards are always excellent and the seasonal and specials are also nice. Enough variety for every palate except maybe vegan. Fun and interesting cocktails and nice wine and beer selection.

We went the day after Thanksgiving and while the experience was pleasant, nothing stood out for me. I had the American Wagyu sirloin and had it prepared'medium' (chef's recommendation) - it was average. On the plus side, service was quick, prices are reasonable and everyone in my party had a pleasant time.

We have enjoyed dining here a few times for special occasions, but we are disappointed with our most recent experience. We wanted to wait for a window table, but were told this would be impossible. Our party of four was seated at a five top, making intimate conversation difficult. Not long after we were seated, we noticed a four top available very close to the windows, and within minutes, tables began to open up next to the windows. We were very disappointed with the lack of regard for our requests. One redeeming factor was the warmth and professionalism of our server. Our experience certainly did not match what we were expected to pay.

Food was excellent. My filet was cooked perfectly and my girlfriends "surf and turf" was great. Little overpriced but good. Only complaint I had requested a window seat when booking a month in advance. Got there and no way I could get a window b/c they were 1st come 1st serve and since they were closing seating in 45 minutes. Whole reason we went was for view of city over dinner since its a top floor. Had a terrible table right as u walk in the place.

I expected the City Grill to be a very mainstream “Republican” dining experience, and it definitely appeared to be on the surface. But the food was surprisingly excellent. And it kind of has to be to survive in Portland’s outsized foodie/restaurant community.

I was asked if I wanted my parking stub validated, and I said yes. When I paid my bill and signed the check I inadvertently left my stub in the small leather folder where the check was. I returned less than 10 mins later when I realized I forgot to retrieve the stub. I was told they could not find it, but I got the sense the staff did not even exert the effort. I got the vibe that they already got my money hence my concern was of no importance to them. I paid the max amount of $20. It's not the money. It's just that this is a sign of sloppy service; and this after I gave a tip of close to $40 for my party of 4. Bad taste in my mouth especially since I bring my children to this restaurant every Thanksgiving, or close to it.

From the moment we walked in we just knew it was going to be a great meal as every table was filled. And the view from the 30th floor was spectacular!! Our waiter AJ was knowledgeable about the wine and menu. The 5 of us had tempura shrimp, iceberg stack with blue cheese and Caesar salad to start. AJ helped us choose a great Oregon Pinot Gris from Adelsheim. For dinner we had the fantastic king salmon, scallops, rib eye steak and cioppino. And we squeezed in a bite of creme brûlée which was perfect. We can highly recommend this spot and it was only our first night here.
