Went to Portland City Grill for an anniversary. The restaurant was mostly empty but we were still seated close to a very very loud table, which was annoying since we were the two occupied tables on that side of the restaurant. The server prioritized the loud table over us and we had to wait a little time just to get a little service. In the end as the other table was finally leaving we finally got better service and he waiter paid attention to us again. Overall it was a good experience but I wish the other table hadn’t been so obnoxiously loud or that we had been seated further away from them to receive better service.

Second time coming here and the second time they mixed up my steak with another customers. Waiter took care of the situation but still got a bad stomach ache after taking a bite out of a raw steak. Could improve on making sure the customer gets what they ordered.

Appetizer sushi deluxe roll absolute best, honestly could have just settled for that as a meal, expensive but fair in portions and view and atmosphere certainly made it worth it. Also had the salmon, very fair portions and honestly should have split (especially including bread, drinks and appetizer). Absolutely delicious!

We went to celebrate my daughter’s 25th birthday. Upon arriving, the hostess was less than cordial and couldn’t seem to be bothered to answer our questions. We were told that 5 people can’t be seated at a window table, which I understand, but she assured us it was a nice table. It wasn’t.
The food was good and the waiter was kind if a little hurried.
Overall I was disappointed as I was expecting so much more.

Excellent dining experience. The service was professional yet friendly. A menu with wide varieties was offered, and the food was prepared with the changes we requested. Overall a fine evening. I have dined there before and will continue to do so.

Frequent diner there usually 110% great service but this was the first time the service was utterly terrible. The waiter was very rude and inconsiderate, the water man ended up taking care of us better.

Still great food and view though!

We went for an anniversary and they had confetti on the table & a dessert with "happy anniversary" piped. Our server was fantastic, though we ordered a cheese plate that was never brought out. Overall great cocktails and entrées (steaks, pork double chop, and chicken with prosciutto/goat cheese are great!).

I recently went here on January 1st for my 1 year anniversary and the service was great! Very kind server and we constantly had people checking on us.
Unfortunately I ordered a boneless rib eye and had to return it back to the kitchen 2 separate times. I asked for medium rare and I recieved a steak that was cooked more then medium rare, then they took the steak back to the kitchen and brought me a new one. Unfortunately this steak was "blue" it seemed like it was set on the grill for a minuet then brought back out. Again after that happened they brought me another steak. Meanwhile my significant other is completely done with their food. I recieved my 3rd steak and it was cooked well done but the exterior of it seemed a bit burnt.
I was very bummed to have spent my 1 year anniversary switching between plates because I didn't recieve the right one the first time.
I wish I would have recived the steak right the first time especially when paying 60+ dollars. But even then I wish the 2nd one would have came out, but it didn't.
I definitely don't think I should have had to pay for it considering I sat there for a good amount of time waiting for my right food. I would try it again just because the service was really good, but as for the food it didn't live up to the hype.

The crab cakes and sushi rolls were amazing! However one of my friends did not get her salad. Everyone got their food except her. When we asked the waiter he was apologetic and said that he could get right on it. They were very busy! But otherwise the service was fab.

Great spot as usual but for New Year's it was somewhat disorganized. Had to wait for our table over 15 minutes (I think they just wanted more bar business) and our reservation was 9:15 P.M.
Nothing extra for New Year's celebration at midnight, it seemed like just another night for them.
We were with some really great friends so the evening was fantastic!

My wife and I had an awesome experience here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We were sat next to the window and they had sprinkled “happy anniversary” confetti on our table which was a very nice gesture. The food was amazing and we will definitely be going back. This was our second time going here and it continues to impress. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or if you want to treat yourself!

Many of the reviews I've read say you pay a premium for the view, the food is so-so for the price, but overall it's a good experience. I would second that, the service was excellent, the food was good but we're in a foodie town so expectations are a little higher, we waited for a window table and they found us easily at the bar so their system for that works.

We love the view and vibe. First time ordering from their dinner menu and found it lacking in choices and very very over priced for what you get. I will enjoy happy hour next time, or lunch menu.
The overall experince was good.

Through OpenTable, requested a window seat several weeks in advance for our special occasion. Hostess greeted us with “I saw your request, however, window seats are on a first come/first serve basis and that you can put your name on the list, it is about a 45 minute wait”. Second we had to wait approximately 20 minutes just to be seated for our reservation. And third, to add insult to injury, we were seated the furthest away from the windows for our special occasion next to the kitchen. Seriously, why take reservations? My son is getting married in May. In celebration of their first year engagement anniversary, we were test running the Portland City Grill to see if we liked it for the rehearsal dinner for about 50 people. What a major disappointment. I guess one major accomplishment, I know where we are not having the rehearsal dinner.

I can't thank my son enough for recommending this restaurant to me & my husband to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary..
Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was wonderful. Place , atmosphere, service, food, view, drinks & dessert was totally out standards!!
A special thanks to our waitress Mady at the bar while we we're waiting for our table and our waiter Jason G, who took care of us during our dinner.

On this outing at Portland City Grill, I was a bit disappointed. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls contained almost no peanut bits and the amount of sauce was way short of that needed to enjoy the rolls. The bone-in New York steak was on the tough side and a bit past the medium rare I requested. The wine was from the lesser 2014 vintage in California and lacked complexity but not price. The lighting was past poor. While the low light was good for looking outside for those with a view (not our table), the menu could not be read without a cellphone light. Then during the meal, it was next to impossible to see what I was eating. As a consequence, I ended up chewing on several almost all fat pieces of steak. I do not look forward to going back.
