I had been here multiple times before and have really enjoyed my time. This time was a extremely disappointing experience. It’s was extremely dark, loud and very busy for a Wednesday at 7:30. The tables were really close together. The waiter kept bumping into me when he would walk through. I order a strawberry mojito and it was just a bunch of strawberry seeds and it was very watered down. My Cesar salad lettuce was browning and not fresh.

Usually a great Restaurant but the staff was not very friendly this time. We were told our table was ready when we arrived at 7 and then told by someone else it was not ready so we waited at least 15 minutes for the table. In the meantime we chose to order drinks at the bar which we were told would be delivered to our table. After arriving at our table it took another 15+ minutes to see a waiter at all. He went to check on our drinks and finally after 30 minutes of being at the table we got our drinks. It then was another wait before our order was taken. The waiter was not very personable and came across as rude to the table. It was not the service I had hoped for or expected from this restaurant.

Food was good but for the price should’ve been much better. Getting a window seat is tough and if you don’t I feel there really isn’t much value for the inflated prices. Service was good.

Our Server Allie was amazing, it was a busy night but she was very attentive, the busser for our table who we forgot to ask his name was super helpful, picking up the dishes we fishes and packaging our food. The chef/sous chef, who cooked our dinner was on point on the meals, very tasty!

My husband and I came to Oregon for the first time and we are used to having dinner on rooftops, the young lady stated we would have to wait for 30 minutes for a window seat but we only waited like 10 minutes. Super sweet of her.

We ordered our food which came out superb but what made the night was Will our server. My husband was looking for a lounge that will allow him to smoke a cigar and Will suggestion was El Gaucho on which we went after dinner.

We will definitely be back again

We make reservations at PCG whenever we have a special occasion. Last night, things seemed to be “off” a bit. Our server, Jeff, although professional did not present a friendliness we’ve come to appreciate at PCG.
Barely finishing our salads and one of us still eating our salad, the entrees were brought to the table. Three out of our four entrees were fabulous- done to perfection, however the halibut was over cooked and dry. Jeff, our waiter, was attentive and checked on us regularly which was great, just not personable. My daughter’s birthday dessert was given to her 10 minutes before any other desserts were brought to the table leaving her to decide: wait for the others or eat it while it is warm. Suggestion is to bring all desserts out at the same time. Overall it was enjoyable and very good experience it just seemed as though we were being rushed. We will go back without hesitation because PCG offers more than any other restaurant!!!

Food was sub-par this time around, over seared / overcooked on both the lamb and the scallops and the scallops were only cooked on one side, which left the uncooked side with a gross texture / feeling to it. The service was phenomenal as usual, but the food left much to be desired.

Our family visited for a birthday. Customer service and staff were exceptional as was the food. We dined with 3 teens who are difficult to please and even they found joy in the upscale menu. The view is amazing - we got here early so we could see the sunset. The dining room is a bit darker than I remember from prior visits once you loose the natural lighting but it’s a trade off so you can see out regardless of when. Some additional lighting on the tables would be helpful. Nice complimentary lava cake for our bday celebration. We all left happy.

Portland City Grill used the be out favorite restaurant in Portland. Last night it took us 20 minutes after being seated for our server to come see us. After she greeted us she did not offer to take out order and we had to ask to order an appetizer. The appetizer arrived and we were over half done before we had to ask the busser to find out server so we could order our meals. The view is awesome so it was nice to have 2 hours to watch the world from above but the service was very slow and our visit lasted too long.

The service was wonderful and the view was stunning. Our waiter did a great job taking care of us, updating us, and most importantly really worked with us on one person in the party’s food allergies. The interesting thing to me was that all their meat is pre-seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic. Some people have garlic issues and that restricts them from being able to eat the meat there. I understand they have a way of preparing but in this day and age I found that unusual that they didn’t have some set aside or a different way of doing it so that everybody can be accommodated.

What a lovely dining experience. We started with the king Lao calamari: spicy, tender, and delicious. I had the scallops: they were cooked to perfection with just the right combinations of flavors in the risotto bed. My wife had the seared yellowfin appetizer. We finished with the crème brûlée as a very pleasant ending, the setting was an intimate window table looking across the glorious Portland city lights and the river: beautiful

My husband and I set aside 1:15 for dinner. It took closer to two hours. Others who arrived after us were served their dinners first. My dinner came out cold. Not warm, cold. I could not send it back since we were already late for the blazers game. Salad was stuck or frozen together. Sushi was falling apart. Our server lost our credit card on the floor and couldn’t find it. It was a very bad experience all together.

Chicken Marsala was overly salty and weirdly sweet. Chicken was tough. Short ribs basically a block of pot roast, stringy and overcooked, nothing special. Ciopino was good. Seafood fettuccine was good but overly salty. View and atmosphere are great but was disappointed in the food.

Not sure if the waiter just had a bad night or what, but I had to ask for everything:
1. He didn’t ask for a drink order
2. Our drinks were very late (he blamed the bartender, but tables seated after us received drinks way before us). I had to remind him that our drinks had not yet arrived (our salads arrived before the drinks!) We would have ordered additional drinks but he never asked, so we gave up trying to get his attention.
3. He did not ask us if we wanted dessert, which we did (he was ready to bring us the bill).
4. We spent 90 minutes there, but had to keep waving him down for simple stuff, which took away from the experience.
Very disappointed by the service. I am a typical 20% tipper, but could not justify it this time.

As expected the price is for the view. Certainly not as fine dining as expected for the money. Service was nice, however, the disappointment was in the dishes. The entrees were decently mediocre in taste but awful in presentation. My filet came out with a few asparagus and an awkwardly placed steamed potato on a plate that was far too large for the portion size. Dessert was an overly rich cheesecake not worth finishing. If you want the view and have extra money to spend that give it a shot for experience alone, however don't expect a top dollar meal.

The Filet was not very good. I was not impressed with the shrimp that came with my steak. They tasted very fishy. The menu said we would be getting mashed potatoes and it came with a potato wedge that was steamed. Was not as good as I remember a year ago. The last time I came.

The food and the view are magnificent, but you pay for what you get, and they're suffering from the same staffing issues as everyone else. The fact that it's a very nice and expensive restaurant, however, makes the staffing issues more glaring (for example, no one refilled by beverage the entire time we were there, and we sat for over 15 minutes before a single person greeted us/took drink orders). Still, the lamb is the best lamb in town, and all of the appetizers we had were great (carpaccio, yellowtail roll, calamari, shrimp cocktail). The salmon was very good too. Our server complained a couple of times that he'd been working all day, and hadn't had a day off in over a week, and that was offputting at such a nice place, but like I said, it's not their fault they're short staffed. I'd still recommend it to anyone and I would go back. Also check your bill: they double charged me for some things, but I caught it and they happily corrected the problem, so no harm no foul.

The view, the service, the ambiance, the drinks, the food: in that order.

You can't go wrong dining, appetizing, or drinking at Portland City Grill. Whether visiting or it you live in the area, you owe it to yourself to go there once just to experience the highest restaurant in Portland. Day or night.

Not cheap if you all have entrees and drinks, but it is a special place. You can make a meal out of appetizers to save some bucks. Like the calamari appetizer: large portion and kind of tastes like kung pao!

We went here for the view, we weren’t disappointed. We had drinks and apps in the bar, excellent service, good apps and drinks. Once we were seated in the dining room, things really went sideways. Our server was very slow and inattentive, rarely came by to check on us. Our meals came our cold, but we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get anyone’s attention. Our meals were remade and were hot this time. The steaks were done correctly but tasted over seared. The mashed potatoes were unremarkable. The chocolate dessert was mediocre. We really loved the view and ambiance, but the poor service and poor food value means we will take this restaurant out of our special occasion rotation.

The restaurant atmosphere of Portland city grill is amazing, however service was average and the 75 dollar wagyu ribeye was comparable to a 25 dollar Safeway steak. You are paying for location.
