Mediocre salads and appetizers. Great desserts, service and ambiance
Loved the restaurant for dinner, or snacks in the bar area where if yoy get there early you can grab a cool window seating area. We had a window table for dinner (also getting there early even with a reservation) but we were in the far back in the corner (great view) but it was really chilly. Wear warm clothes.....would definitely do it again.
Great service, food was great.
Being a Portland native, I've been to PCG many times over the years. The view is great. The ambiance is fantastic. The service has always been impressive. The food, unfortunately, is so-so, especially for the price point. If I'm specifically looking for top notch steaks, I'll go to Ringside. I typically don't mind paying the premium, though, since the place is so iconic. It's a great place to take guests who have never been to Portland.
My friend and I both ordered an entree and her pork and my steak were both chewy and under cooked. Didn’t charge me for my meal, just my drink. Waiter was nice but food was poor.
PCG never disappoints! This was my second time visiting. First time was with friends to have some drinks and we had a great time. Great food and drink during happy hour. Second visit was with my girlfriend for a romantic, post-Valentines day dinner. She was blown away by the setting and views at the window tables. The food was great, a little pricey but worth it. Service was great as well.
Wonderful, as always.
First time to Portland city grill it's unexpectantly snowed that night. The view of the snow covered city was AMAZING! I will for sure go there again. Upscale restaurant! Dimmed lighting and a lit candle at the table really set the romantic mood I was aiming for. Definitely worth the high dollar to dine there. If it is your first time you most wait for a window seat!
This restaurant gave us one of the most unique experiences ever! Our waitress was amazing, and capable of sharing an abundance of information about the menu. Our meals were absolutely delicious, and I have never ate a New York steak so well prepared. I am far from being a regular consumer of red wines, and our waitress recommended a local wine that was absolutely superb! We visited this restaurant during our first trip to Portland, Oregon and I can honestly say it left an everlasting impression. We definitely plan to visit this place again!
Delicious food, outstanding service, and a terrific river/city view can be expected when dining at Portland City Grill. This is without question the best restaurant in Portland, and never disappoints.
The apple gorgonzola & Caesar salads were excellent while the fillet mignon & rack of lamb were absolutely delicious, as was the creme brûlée. The loaded baked potato and spicy green beans were also wonderful. The waitress offered three different wine tastes when my daughter stated that she did not know what type of red wine she wanted, and frequently refilled our beverage glasses.
Portland City Grill is a special occasion restaurant due to its high prices, but it is the place to dine when one seeks the highest level dining experience.
Food was amazing. Best meal I have ever eaten. My only complaint is that you can't make a window table reservation ahead :(
We arrived a couple of minutes prior to our reservation and were told we would need to wait to be seated. Immediately 2 other parties arrived with no reservations and were immediately seated. They both had tables with better views. Apparently having a reservation is no advantage. The food was okay, not worth the price, service was just so-so. I would not bother with the dining room, though happy hour in the bar may be worth the money.
WONDERFUL Sunday brunch. We booked through Open Table and got an amazing corner window table. The waitress was so nice and encouraged us to relax and enjoy. We stayed 3 hours watching the weather change from sun to rain to snow - that’s Portland! We ordered the champagne mimosas and all the different flavors made with fresh juices were delicious. The buffet was great. Seafood, sushi, many entrees and salads, a carving station, desserts - and made to order Benedicts, chicken and waffles, and waffles with blueberry compote. Something to please everyone. Everything was fresh and yummy. Highly recommend!
My boyfriend and and went there for a late Valentines Brunch and Was Not Dissapointed. Service was awesome and food was spot on. Lots to choose from 🤗 We will absolutely be back for brunch.
The food was hot and fresh. Service was perfect never obtrusive. The view is icing on the cake.
I love this place. The food has always been Excellent. The view is gorgeous. Brunch is always worth a treat.
Although the check in person seemed a bit cool, everything after that was perfection. Our waiter was the perfect combination of being attentive without making us feel rushed in ordering, eating, or leaving. The food was superb, beautifully presented and so very good! We’re already planning on returning for Sunday happy hour, as we’ve heard it shouldn’t be missed.
Portland City Grill was amazing! My boyfriend and I went for our late Valentines Day date, and the staff was amazing right away, and the food was delicious. It was a beautiful view, and the whole staff had wonderful attitudes. An amazing place that employs amazing people!
Overall it was a nice dining experience. We decided to wait 45 min past our reservation time to get a table by the window. While we waited we sat in the bar area and got an appetizer and drinks. The clam appetizer was amazing, that wine butter sauce was to die for. It was very loud and packed in the bar area. It's also very loud when you first come off the elevator. The actual dining area was not as loud, but not quiet either like you'd expect for a more upscale restaurant. I was also surprised how casual people were dressed for such a nice restaurant, but that's Portland. Our server was there when we needed (took our order, brought new drinks), but did not engage with us at all, which was fine because we were enjoying each other's company. The ambiance was nice with low-lighting and great views. We were both satisfied with our entrees and dessert. The portions are large, we each took a box home with at least half. The bathroom was not as nice as I'd expect for a more upscale restaurant, very average, did not even have nice towels.
We had a table of 7, all of us were newbies to the restaurant and each tried something different off the menu. My husband had the evening surf and turf special (7.5 oz wagyu sirloin and scallops) which he said was delicious. I tried the steak and it melted in my mouth!! My dish was the pork loin and mac and cheese and not only was the pork 2.5 inches thick(!), it was tender and the best pork I have ever had. My sister ate the halibut and devoured it. We had a great server (AJ) and enjoyed our evening a lot. As we were there celebrating two birthdays, the restaurant sprinkled Happy Birthday confetti on the table before we arrived and left a signed card from the staff. They brought out delicate birthday treats as well! Overall, awesome location, setting and food. It is worth the bill!
