Portland City Grill Ratings and Reviews
First time to Portland city grill it's unexpectantly snowed that night. The view of the snow covered city was AMAZING! I will for sure go there again. Upscale restaurant! Dimmed lighting and a lit candle at the table really set the romantic mood I was aiming for. Definitely worth the high dollar to dine there. If it is your first time you most wait for a window seat!
WONDERFUL Sunday brunch. We booked through Open Table and got an amazing corner window table. The waitress was so nice and encouraged us to relax and enjoy. We stayed 3 hours watching the weather change from sun to rain to snow - that’s Portland! We ordered the champagne mimosas and all the different flavors made with fresh juices were delicious. The buffet was great. Seafood, sushi, many entrees and salads, a carving station, desserts - and made to order Benedicts, chicken and waffles, and waffles with blueberry compote. Something to please everyone. Everything was fresh and yummy. Highly recommend!
Although the check in person seemed a bit cool, everything after that was perfection. Our waiter was the perfect combination of being attentive without making us feel rushed in ordering, eating, or leaving. The food was superb, beautifully presented and so very good! We’re already planning on returning for Sunday happy hour, as we’ve heard it shouldn’t be missed.
Portland City Grill was amazing! My boyfriend and I went for our late Valentines Day date, and the staff was amazing right away, and the food was delicious. It was a beautiful view, and the whole staff had wonderful attitudes. An amazing place that employs amazing people!
Overall it was a nice dining experience. We decided to wait 45 min past our reservation time to get a table by the window. While we waited we sat in the bar area and got an appetizer and drinks. The clam appetizer was amazing, that wine butter sauce was to die for. It was very loud and packed in the bar area. It's also very loud when you first come off the elevator. The actual dining area was not as loud, but not quiet either like you'd expect for a more upscale restaurant. I was also surprised how casual people were dressed for such a nice restaurant, but that's Portland. Our server was there when we needed (took our order, brought new drinks), but did not engage with us at all, which was fine because we were enjoying each other's company. The ambiance was nice with low-lighting and great views. We were both satisfied with our entrees and dessert. The portions are large, we each took a box home with at least half. The bathroom was not as nice as I'd expect for a more upscale restaurant, very average, did not even have nice towels.
A reservation 3 weeks in advance got us a table in the back by the kitchen - very noisy and no view. After ordering, we realized we were not given complimentary fresh bread like all the other tables were given. Staff was very accommodating and did end up getting us a table that opened up closer to the window. We were also disappointed that we couldn't hear the piano from the dining area. We will probably just walk in next time and sit at the bar.
We went here for a late Valentines Date since we both worked late, and Portland City Grill did not disappoint! Service was a little bit slow at first but picked up after first contact with our waiter. He was incredibly diligent and attentive to our needs and made us feel like royalty. The food was top tier quality! I ordered the Top Sirloin steak and she ordered the Filet And Lobster Tail, and I can say without a doubt that was the best steak I have had in the PNW! The wine pairing was on point thanks to the recommendation from PCG staff, and the ambiance made for a very romantic evening! Highly recommend!
It was Valentine's Day and mad an early reservation. Hostesses were very personable, we also were all singing to a overhead song.
Waitress was the VERY BEST, attractive, intoxicating smile, on point for our every request and on point to make sure all was perfect. Wife was smitten by her!!! She was outstanding, virw from our table was spectacular as the evening was close.
Food was well prepared and as we requested. Fine wines and drinks were well done. Excellent experience for a special day and a special woman in my life.
I sat at table #3. Right in front of the kitchen, (also a bonus!) our food came out so quickly. This was the best experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Everything was amazing. from the food, to the service. Could not have asked for a better valentines evening. I will for sure be coming back to Portland City Grill.
This was a second time dinning at this lovely restaurant. Both time very different and special. The one thing, (the only this) that I did not feel comfortable with was that I was called before the reservation to make sure to be prompt. I do take into consideration that are reservation was one of the last ones that night but I found it odd to have received that comment. Still our food was delicious and our server was attentive.
Server had an off night. Friendly guy, but definitely an off night. Our apps took a really long time to come out. Even though we never said a word about it, he said that our spring rolls were “lost” and that he would take them off our bill. He brought them out a bit later. Our meal was great but he didn’t bring our shareable side and he never mentioned it. We didn’t either and it wasn’t on our bill. No biggie. Brought the tab, and we were charged for our spring rolls. Again, no biggie- we actually got those. We paid the bill, and in that process he lost our parking voucher. We had to argue with the attendant downstairs for several minutes to be let out of the garage without paying the $20 daily rate. Not a horrible experience; our meal was delicious. Service was sub-par.
The food was incredible! Our server Alyssa was amazing and she recommended the best bottle of Pinot Noir that I have ever tasted. As usual, the view was beautiful! Our guests from Denver were very impressed!
I asked for a window table when I made the reservation and then again when we checked in. We were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait and we were welcome to wait in the bar. Seems like a sales pitch to generate more revenue rather than a table availability issue.
However, still love PCG! And Alyssa was the best!
Excellent food. We had a rib-eye, and halibut. Both were prepared perfect. We shared a dark chocolate cake for dessert, which we enjoyed. On the high end for my budget, but worth the money for a special occasion.
We dined at 6:00 PM on a Sunday. We were seated quickly. I would like to see fewer tables. It was more like a busy diner as far as the spacing of tables. I could hear tables next to me easily, and in general was quite noisy.
This place never disappoints, when it comes to food! I ordered the lemon chicken and it was delicious! I finished my plate!! My dining companion ordered the trout with spinach, which she also enjoyed, but the waitress took the plate and leftovers without asking if we wanted the rest to go! We didn't even get a chance to speak up. It seemed like she was in a hurry to get us out of there (the only downside) but the rest of the experience was great! I never tire of the views, and food is always very good.
Portland City Grill is an iconic restaurant. Gorgeous views, excellent food & usually superb service. On our most recent visit, our server forgot about our ordered salads until the entrees were served. Naturally, they weren’t included on the check, but still an unfortunate mistake. I’m also fearful that their pricing is climbing above the value received. $49 for a VERY spicy Paella is too much. It may sound petty, but their chairs are made for quick “table turns” instead of a relaxed meal.
