Always good food and great view. service is excellent
We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday & everything turned out perfectly. We had a window seating withe a view, the food was delicious & the service was great.
Too loud. Server didn’t first contact us until 10 minutes after we were seated... food was very good but the ambiance is not to my liking. I hope you don’t want to talk to your table mates.
Awesome dinner. Beautiful view of portland. Our waiter Jeffery was great.
Fairly loud in the dining room, but great view and amazing food. Will definitely be back
Food taste great
One med rare steak came cold in middle and had to be sent back.
This service was absolutely amazing! The view and atmosphere were incredible contributing to what was one of the best nights of our lives. My husband and I had been working extremely hard for some particular goals, and this dinner was our reward. We wanted to be treated like royalty, and that we were! Each course with its wine pairing filled us with more than satisfaction. We will definitely be back!
We had the specials - Pallea and Flat Iron Steak. Absolutely fantastic!!!! Great server with spot on suggestions. A beautiful night with a very special view. Definitely worth it for a special night.
I would recommend HH for any friend; however, I was not impressed with the meal. My steak had absolutely no flavor, and the mash potatoes tasted like instant mash. The wine was good, salad and soup were good but overpriced. Overall I would not recommend coming here for dinner but HH yes.
It was our daughters 18th birthday. Our sever Jeff was amazing. This is our go to place to celebrate special occasions. Outstanding food and service as always.
I was a huge fan of the place , celebrating lots of dates here with family .
This last time the prices got up there , but if it’s good quality food and the view is like no other . The food came out and it was not at its peak . The grilled salmon came out pretty raw, nobody asked how we wanted it cooked , we assumed cooked was a standard, sent it back was a little better (same piece of fish ) but still not cooked proper , served over a mix of vegies and potatoes , that was not super hot . My steak came out rare when I ordered medium .
The 3 rolls of sushi we ordered was not as great as before . I guess it’s time to find a new place to eat . It’s very busy so maybe they don’t care about the quality of the food .
We just wanted to try there Sunday brunch buffet and it was wonderful.
We went to celebrate my sons birthday and it wasn’t acknowledged. We were moved to a window table and had to repeatedly ask for silverware and napkins. Food was not replaced on a timely manner.
I requested reservations for noon next to a window for my guests visiting from China. We we're seated in the center of the room near the buffet. There was no seafood and most of the food was empty on the buffet 3 times that we checked. I asked the waitress to please inform us when some seafood would be up. We we're never informed. My guests were uncomfortable trying to find some seafood. When seafood finally became available 1 hour later it was still frozen and my guests were trying to thaw it in their water glasses. I was very embarrassed that our special planned brunch ended up this way. So Surprised, Stanford's has always been good.
The welcoming staff were awesome as usual!
My first time with Kevin as a server and he was excellent! (I hope I recall the correct name)
The oysters were very few and far between.
The shrimp were very dry and chewy.
My first time with this type of experience with the food and I hope it is my last!
The view was amazing. The food was expensive and did not taste good. Although my husbands dinner was a lot better then mine but nothing great. I would only go back for the view and might try something different.
Had a bad experience if you'd like to talk about it please call me at 503-707-6163
Everything was great. The only negative I have to say is the fact that I could not reserve a table against the window. I was told that I had to request when I come in. We arrived 20 min. Before our reservation time and when I requested it I was told it would be 1 hour and 30 min before we could get that table. This was my boyfriend’s 30th birthday dinner and I wanted it to be very special and chose Portland city grill for the view, so that was a little disappointing.
The goat cheese chicken at a Portland City Grill is delectable. After eating there our first time in Portland, we planned our next trip to be sure we could dine there again. It was every bit as delicious as we remembered. The food is heavenly and the bartenders and servers are friendly and efficient. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Had a great time ( a belated Valentine's date. The food was delicious but quite expensive. The window seat view was awesome. No doubt the view is partly responsible for the price of the food.
Great restaurant! It help up to the hype and the name! Food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting and fancy. Its a great place for a special night out like it was for me and my valentine.
Best dining experience! Took my mom here for her birthday. She had never been. The dinner was phenomenal and the service was beyond outstanding! Can’t wait to visit again!
Great night out. View is beautiful and the food matches the view.
Excellent food, attentive service, beautiful view, romantic spot.
Awful experience. For the price you pay you don’t get the amount of food you deserve. Wish we would have listened to friends and not have gone here. Beyond awful.
Great food, great view!
Went here for a lunch date on a friday, not too busy, we had a reservation so got in right away.
It was good
Mike our server was excellent, attentive, and pleasing. Our ribeye was wonderful. One was overcooked and Mike made sure a new one was immediately brought out without question. It was a bit dark maybe due to Valentine's day so it was hard to read the menu as we were sitting in middle section of the room. Everything was great!
Went here for Valentines day with my wife and had the Ribeye steak. It was one of the best I've had. Service was great, food was great and the view is amazing but unfortunately we didn't have a window table which made it more difficult to enjoy. They also validate your parking which is nice. Only complaint is the price. This is a VERY nice place so expect the price tag to be in the $150 range for a couple. I was pleasantly surprised that the noise level was pretty mild for a place so full of people.
The food is mediocre and wildly over priced for what you get, but if you are able to get a window view, the ambience is wonderful. If you're like us and aren't able to get a window seat (it's first come, first served for window seats), the experience/food are absolutely not worth the price.
This was my first visit & I thought it was lovely! I will be back for sure.
It was great!
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Portland City Grill. They were able to accommodate our window seat request. The bartender treated us as if we were regulars. Service was great and the Happy Birthday decorations were unexpected and nice. The view was fantastic. The staff was attentive and focused on making sure we had what we needed. Parking is free and hassle free! It was an experience that went just right! I want to return again soon.
The view is stunning, the food is delicious, and the drinks are outstanding.
I've been to your restaurant 2 times and both times were fantastic. Drinks were very well made, the bar tender knew his stuff and the dinner waiter provided very good service and side choices that seemed outside the box and tailored to our desires. Am coming back soon
Beautiful restaurant, it was amazing experience and i will be coming back in the future.
We had an excellent meal and the service was attentive. But the price was way in excess of the quality and imaginativeness of the food. What you're paying for is the performance of luxury.
Overall we were very happy with our dining experience at the Portland City Grill. We were seated in a booth and the place was packed, which seemed surprising for a Tuesday night. The food was wonderful. The crab cakes are to die for! My husband ordered the wild caught King salmon Oscar with Wagyu steak. He is a fisherman and very particular about salmon. He was really impressed. I had the stuffed chicken breast, which also did not disappoint. The kale/onion/maybe spinach vegetable side on my plate left a little something to be desired, but didn’t detract from the experience. Our cocktails and desserts were also delicious. Our server was attentive, but not very engaging. We kind of felt like we were inconveniencing him when we asked for drinks. That would be the only area of less than awesome. Prepare to spend some money eating here, but it’s definitely worth it.
My two children and my wife and I dine in many nice restaurants. My wife enjoys steak so we have tried every great steak house in Portland . We both agreed that the Portland City Grill is well behind the other high end restaurants. Although our steaks had a good look to them, they were under cooked (almost raw when we ordered them medium) in all cases and the taste was inferior to other fine dining restaurants. We have eaten here more than once thinking they just had a bad night but now it’s confirmed, we would probably not choose Portland Grill if we wanted a great steak.
